Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Mark Morris - 17 years ago
Rich SOnce again you demonstrate your knowledge of coaching. And how exactly does a post obviously made as a jest demonstrate anything about someone's knowledge of coaching? Rich S, you're a hypocritical agitator who single-handedly diminishes the quality of this board. I went over to your sad Golden Knights Roundtable and it took me all of two minutes to see that you commit or blithely sitby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: OT- when did the Greek House close? - 17 years ago
Ack! Horrible, horrible news. Every trip to Ithaca for my family includes a meal at the Greek House. Add it to the list of personally painful losses from C-town: Little Joes --where my wife and I had our first date (dinner at Little Joe's followed by a Cornell hockey game) and The Chariot (for the corn nuggets). With the Greek House gone, and the Turk Bro's (not so) recent departure, there arby JasonN95 - Hockey

billhowardIt was still better to have had him two years. Some teams don't even get a single game out of their potential stars:by JasonN95 - Hockey
Thanks, Hillel - 18 years ago
Well, it's the end of the regular season for lacrosse and I'm getting around to posting a reply I should have done at the start. When it comes to sports (pro or amateur) I'm far and away a Cornell hockey fan first, but coming in second is Cornell lax. Perhaps it has something to do with my allegiance to those teams being forged while both slid down into their modern day nadirs. One of the most emby JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: CORNELL HOCKEY ALUMNI LAUNCH CLOTHING LINE - 18 years ago
What I find distressing is that they have two options for their premiere shirt that use Syracuse's color scheme and not one that uses Cornell's. Ack!by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Albany roll call!! - 18 years ago
I’ll be there Saturday, whether consy or championship. Hell, the consy might actually matter! I’ll likely have my daughter of three (a budding Big Red fan), but my wife, a Cornell grad as well, will be stuck at home with weekend call. My father will be there Friday and, if Cornell is in the championship, Saturday. If Cornell is in the championship on Saturday, I’ll be putting my “perfect recordby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: clarkson @ cornell, ecachl second round chatter - 18 years ago
TrotskyGonna be a very, very tough series. Agreed. I somewhat understand the desire to have a chance to improve PWR or to face a tough opponent who'll hopefully bring out Cornell's best, but, frankly, I'd be much happier with the ECACHL championship and Cornell having the path of least resistance that leads to that. Playing Clarkson is not that path. Consider this: would you choose (a) bowinby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Out of Town Scores: Game 2 - 18 years ago
andyw2100Easy to listen to the Union feed now! Also, Greg, did you see my question to you on the second page of this thread, about the 03/08/94 game? I know you'll just know the answer, without needing to look it up anywhere. Thanks. Andy My recollection is that Geoff Lopatka scored the winning goal in that play-in game.by JasonN95 - Hockey

One point twenty-one gigawatts!!! Between internet audio and directv, there's too many interesting games to try to follow. I jumping around like crazy uncertain where I should settle.by JasonN95 - Hockey

KeithKThe six Ivy coaches (they're the ones who vote, right?) If so, that may explain Matt's inclusion regardless of his numbers (or lack thereof). If part of your preparation for your upcoming game against Cornell is "How do we shut down Matt Moulson?" (I don't think it's a stretch to assume that goes through opposition coaches' minds), you might be inclined to vote for him even ifby JasonN95 - Hockey

PinkyGenDartmouth radio is confused on why we are cheering a Colgate victory over Harvard. Well, we should have been rooting for Harvard in that game.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: ?s from a first time Lynah visitor - 18 years ago
Class of ’95 here, so my time perfectly coincides with the Modern Day Nadir of Cornell Hockey (I’ve used that phrasing a few times on this board, I figure if I keep it up, it’ll eventually stick ). My freshman year was the last season of the unregulated student line for tickets --the fiasco that year prompted all of the various schemes by the Athletics Dept to apply some control over the lineupby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: ?s from a first time Lynah visitor - 18 years ago
Our preferred route coming from NYC-ish area (we live about an hour north of the city) is to take 17 to Owego (the second Owego exit, there's actually a supplemental sign telling you it is for Ithaca), then follow 96/96B into Ithaca. If you're comfortable using passing zones to get around cars on small roads, this is an attractive option in my opinion.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Impressions from SLU(t)/Clarkson weekend at Lynah - 18 years ago
I enjoy these occasional reflections back to the "dark days" of Cornell hockey. Personally, having witnessed firsthand the modern nadir of the program (as a member of the class of '95), I pretty much had resigned myself after the '94-'95 season to the belief that the team would never get anywhere near to its old glory. How happy am I that I was wrong. I'll be at Lynah for this weekenby JasonN95 - Hockey

I missed exactly one home game in my four years: a 0-7 loss to Providence on Nov 28, 1993. Looking at that score, maybe I didn't miss it after all (borrowing punchline from "Office Space".by JasonN95 - Hockey

Re: Cornell-RIT post game - 18 years ago
Omie, did you watch the game or only listen to it (that's meant as a serious question, not a snide one)? *Arguably*, there was charging, but I would say not. There was no elbow; the Yale player's shoulder struck the Q player's helmet and spun it.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RIT post game - 18 years ago
I'm starting to think that the refereeing this season is putting a damper on Cornell's physical play. It now seems to be (more so than in past seasons) that delivering a clean, powerful hit that stuns the opponent is a penalty in the eyes of the refs. Charging (when the player correctly coasts) and elbowing (when its all shoulder or when a tall player keeps his elbow tucked but still makes someby JasonN95 - Hockey

I know its blasphemy and I probably already said it last year, but I prefer the New Cornell Fight Song over Davy.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Jerseys? - 18 years ago
Last year the patches said "ECAC" with "Hockey" underneath. This year's ECACHL logo on the website has "Hockey League" underneath. I haven't taken notice of this year's patch, but perhaps it too is updated, such that last year's patches couldn't be recycled.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Results 12/2-12/3 - 18 years ago
I didn't want to start another thread, but I think it's worth mentioning that Brown hung tough with, but lost to, Maine 2-1 on Wedn and Harvard picked up another quality win against UHN on Thurs, 1-0. Both games were on the road for the ECACHL teams.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Canceling CSTV All-Access Monthly Subscriptions - 18 years ago
I'm not sure any additional plugin, etc. is needed for full screen. I use Firefox (although I'm pretty sure this works in IE, too) and after the video starts in the embedded viewer, I right-click on the video and choose full screen under zoom (the % options don't work, but full screen does). I then have a full screen version of the feed.by JasonN95 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 5, Niagara 4 (Post-game Thread) - 18 years ago
Is it possible that Cornell's recent history of success has resulted in the team being able to recruit an arguably more individually skilled player that doesn't work as well in a puck control, hit-first-take-names-later system? Maybe this is some growing pains as the team and coaches have to adjust to a "new look" Cornell. (If not this year, I think we could definitely see that next yeby JasonN95 - Hockey

FYI, I just updated the audio links. It does not appear that Niagara offers free audio. Instead, it's for a fee: If anyone finds a free option, please let me know, thanks.by JasonN95 - Hockey
