Re: Cornell 6 at RPI 1 post game - 17 years ago
Dpperk29 you're still grumpy about that? get over it Jim, it's our rink. Oh, is that how it works? Any chance you could explain that to Rich S? I think that would do away with about 98% of his posts here.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: The End of Huggy Bear? - 17 years ago
I'm afraid not, if my understanding is correct. The bookstore has access to the University service marks, such as leaning bear, and puts that on the sports apparel it sells. Huggy bear is a concoction of Athletics and is theirs to use; if you go to Lynah for a game there's a table with all sort of huggy bear items for sale. The reason I heard (probably on eLynah) that Athletics created huggy beaby JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell at Clarkson Post-game - 17 years ago
Rich SYes those cheers are tasteless and I don't like it but they are no less so than the ones directed at Clarkson players and fans at Lynah, as recently as last year. Bull. That cellphone video had more offensive behavior than I've seen from a Cornell crowd in a long, long time. Until this season I have typically sat in Section O (that's what the ticket office would have for sale) for severaby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Joe Nieuwendyk Retires - 17 years ago
calgARI '07I've thought for a couple years that whenever Schafer leaves Cornell, Nieuwendyk could be the next coach. As far as I know, he will be living in the area after he retires. What I'd like to see is Schafer staying the coach with Joe a quasi-volunteer coach who from time to time stops in at practice to share his wisdom. That would seem like an attractive situation to recruits.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Florida hockey classic (Estero) FAQ - 17 years ago
ebilmesYeah, the DJ plays "C-O-R-N-E double L," which was always surprising because the tournament director is a Cornell alum. As in year's past I will come to the defense of the FL tourney not playing Davy. First off, the "...double L" song is the new fight song for Cornell, so its at least a reasonable choice. Second, in an environment where there is a likelihood of higherby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 Union 0 postgame (12/2/06) - 17 years ago
Cactus12I always like to remind opposing players that they're not living up to their own team's legacy. For example... telling Mrazek that he's a disgrace and that Union never got blown away like this when Mayotte was around. That reminds me of one of my favorite cheers. A few years back at a game at Princeton a Cornell fan shouted out (I may be guilty of some paraphrasing): "Hey, Princetby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Help Improve All-Access - 17 years ago
Jim, Athletics will get a message from me today. I had thought that mine would be a weaker submission since I thankfully haven't been frustrated as often by All Access (I've fortunately been able to attend almost all the home games the season). But I have had my share of All Access difficulties and will pen up a message. Jasonby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: "Dumping the Old" - 17 years ago
calgARI '07The best thing for the goalies, the players, and the team as a whole is having two goalies that can play at a high enough level that the team can win. Sure, if it came at no cost. But suppose that the coaching staff has decided that Davenport is a step above the other goalies and playing one of the others decreases not insignificantly the chance of winning. Cornell is not going to cby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Message Regarding Sunday's Wayne State Game - 17 years ago
Beeeej, thanks for posting this. I don't seem to be on the Athletics email list for season ticket holders (I'll need to remedy that).by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 @ Quinnipiac 5 Post Game Thread - 17 years ago
dsr11I don't follow CU Hockey nearly as closely as I used to, but I did get to the QU game this past weekend. My thoughts? Davenport did not play well. In fact, he was outright awful. Every shot, he was always looking behind him, like he knew the puck was going to get by. Now, I know the lighting was dimmer, the ceiling was silver, but those are just excuses. He needs more confidence. Heby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Princeton 2 Post Game Thread - 17 years ago
OmieI know Davenport has been pretty solid in goal and has kept us in the games but he is certainly not great. He did a great job of keeping us in the game against Dartmouth in the 2nd and 3rd periods but he also let in 2 goals in 7 shots in the 1st which is partly why we trailed the whole game. And tonight he had awesome saves but also let in 2 shots in 3 mins, granted it was also the D's fault.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Other Friday night scores 11/10 - 17 years ago
redhair34 Ouch. What I want to know is did a Cornell Athletics chartered bus run over Goldie Knight's puppy? That person has a near maniacal hatred of all things Cornell hockey. Yipes! Rich S, perhaps you could spend some of your high horse time getting Goldie in line.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: No All-access for harvard - 17 years ago
Avash '05jtwcornell91Well, it's a good thing I'll be at the game and not in Germany trying to watch. It looks like the reason is that certain games are pay-per-view on CSTV's site: . So it's $14.95 to watch the Cornell/Harvard game online. I think I've been pretty patient with CSTV. Promised help from tech support has never come so I've resigned myself to being only able to access the feedsby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: BC 0 @ Sucks 2 (late 3rd) - 17 years ago
And Harv scores on a one timer. 4-0 with less than 2min to go. Looks like Harvard finally woke up.by JasonN95 - Hockey

twh and Avash, thanks. I'm updating my the page with the working link now. EDIT: Audio links updated.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Free Net Audio for '06-'07 - 17 years ago
Chris, thanks for alerting me. I'll try to remember to test the alternate link tonight during Brown's game and if it again is not carrying their men's hockey, I'll drop it from the audio links page.by JasonN95 - Hockey
old habits die hard - 17 years ago
Watched the Minn-UMD game. To me it looked like the reffing crew lost its collective spine in the last few minutes as I saw three Minn penalties, although I guess up to two of them could have been blamed on the crew not seeing them. - Gopher defenseman on his knees places his hand on the puck and draws it into his body to stop play. Whistle but no penalty. This was clearly seen by the ref andby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Thanksgiving Games are SATURDAY and SUNDAY - 17 years ago
First, thanks for pointing this out in the other thread. As I mentioned there I had planned my trip based on USCHO's schedule. Updated my hotel reservation and now I'm all set (Sat and Sun actually work better for my family). And just to keep things lively, I'll mention that Wayne State's athletics page agrees about the games being Sat and Sun, but lists the start time of the Sat game as 7pm. Mby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: 2006-7 Schedule - It's official - 17 years ago
Not that it's in doubt anymore, but whoever answered in the ticket office also says Sat and Sun. Damn you, USCHO!by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: 2006-7 Schedule - It's official - 17 years ago
BeeeejI'm just now noticing that the Wayne State games are listed as 8pm Saturday and 4pm Sunday, not 8pm Friday and 4pm Saturday ... Well that's annoying to say the least since I've been planning all along as though it was Fri and Sat. USCHO had it as Fri and Sat (which is the schedule that I had been relying on), but I see that Athletics website has it Sat and Sun. I'll have to check the ticketby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Real Names or User Names? - 17 years ago
I think keeping the unique identifier is a good idea to prevent any easy imposter shenanigans, so if it has to be one or the other, I'd vote for the user ID. How about both? E.g.: "Posted by: "" ()" Another forum I participate in puts both your login ID and your name entered into your profile beside your posts.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Free Net Audio for '06-'07 - 17 years ago
I have updated the Free Net Audio page ( ; Age also has it linked to under "Links" to the right). Please let me know if you find any errors and I will try to quickly update the page, thanks.by JasonN95 - Hockey
Free Net Audio for '06-'07 - 17 years ago
I have not yet updated the free audio links page for this season (Age links to it on the left) but will do so next week. As for this weekend's (is my apostrophe ok? ) game, I'd be very surprised if York has audio available. If anyone has info about our opponent's audio for this year that they'd like to share now or if you discover any errors on the page after I update it, please feel free toby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: is there All access for hockey this year? - 17 years ago
All Access works on one of my two PCs. The one that doesn't work used to work fine with last year's All Access. I've called them twice but they have not yet resolved the problem on that PC and I've pretty much have resigned myself to it not working there even though that is my preferred PC for watching the games. Also, the current interface prevents you from watching full screen, which is annoyinby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Albany football - 17 years ago
jtwcornell91I'm wondering if anyone anywhere has actually managed to watch or listen to any of these games. New and improved All-Access, my arse! I tried to watch the Yale game while it was being played but wasn't able to access it. Spoke to support, but they weren't able to resolve it with me on the phone. They took my phone number and said that they'd get back to me. Never heard from them.by JasonN95 - Other Sports
Re: Three Callups to the Varsity - 17 years ago
RichHThere used to be a more formal JV team. As a brief benchwarming goalie for the Cornell JV, I can tell you that the JV team was disbanded over Xmas break my senior year (Xmas '94), the season before Schafer became coach. I've never heard that it was revived since then, so I'd say there never was a JV from which Schafer could have plucked players. As for JV players getting the "call up&qby JasonN95 - Hockey

Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
Dpperk29 and does athletics(or the university as a whole) care if these "most deserving fans" get tickets over a bunch of "non-deserving fans?" I think Athletics does care; they tried different formulations over the past several years that, although in execution may have failed, at least seemed motivated with the intent of rewarding the most fanatical. I think they finallyby JasonN95 - Hockey
Re: CU to charge students for athletic events - 17 years ago
My thought (which has been inspired by the various discussions on this board about this issue): Students get a coupon book each with a unique number that appears on each coupon and is registered in that person’s name. Athletics will collect coupons as follows (a) two for arriving at a men’s home game at least 20 min in advance of game time *even if you don’t have a ticket to get in* (obviouslby JasonN95 - Hockey
