Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: NCAA scheduling changes? - 21 years ago
As funny as it seems, that's exactly what they may do.by Adam - Hockey
Re: FYI - No Reentry Policy - 21 years ago
Might be a security measure. It's easier to keep track of people if they only enter/leave the arena once.by Adam - Hockey
Re: [OT] - San Diego? No Thanks - 21 years ago
Woodbridge, VA, I tell ya. Cheapest gas this side of OPEC. If anyone has the good fortune of driving down I-95 across the next few months, I highly recommend planning your gas stop around there. Back in high school when gas was cheap, I could fill up there for 89 cents a gallon.by Adam - Hockey
Re: RPI and RPI & PWR - 21 years ago
Less than 1%? Ha, we wish. See Vermont V. Clarkson, circa 2001.by Adam - Hockey
Re: new Braketology - 21 years ago
Let's say that Harvard (or Yale or Dartmouth) somehow creep into the Top 15 in the next couple of weeks. If we play them in the ECAC tournament, does that count as a non-conference neutral site game?by Adam - Hockey

Anyone know where Doug Stienstra is these days?by Adam - Hockey
Re: 3/10 Polls - 21 years ago
I'm in favor of accounting for the last several games of the season (not sure that 16 is the proper number, but that is a mere detail). Time is just as powerful a variable as any other you might use to rank teams. Over the course of a season, things happen. Injuries have been mentioned so far. But a laundry list of things can really CHANGE a team over the course of the season. Coaches get fiby Adam - Hockey
Re: 3/10 Polls - 21 years ago
Keith, I absolutely agree that the differences point out flaws in the selection criteria. In some cases, sportswriters and coaches who watch these teams every week are in a better spot to assess equitable rankings than are computer models.by Adam - Hockey
Re: 3/10 Polls - 21 years ago
Interesting how even this late in the season it can still differ so much with PWR.by Adam - Hockey
Re: on ice accident - 21 years ago
A friend of mine in med school said that these kinds of injuries can cause a patient to waver from critical to serious several times. The key is that Joe is still unconscious, so it's still a very dangerous situation. Best wishes. "Reports are that Exter suffered a fractured skull in the collision. He was immediately unconscious and since the incident has not resumed consciousness."by Adam - Hockey
Times For Providence Regional? - 21 years ago
Does anyone know what the game times are for the Providence Regional. Both Saturday's games and Sunday's game. On the Dunk's website, it just says "Various" under game time. Thanks.by Adam - Hockey
Re: UMass stuns Maine - 21 years ago
This is a silly question for those who know more about PWR than I do. If Maine losses again to UMass they sit idle next weekend. Would they actually be better sitting idle than losing to a lower PWR team in the semi's or finals? Especially if UMass then goes on to win out?by Adam - Hockey
Re: Weekend Playoff Predictions - 21 years ago
Brown beats Princeton in 3 RPI beats Union in 3 Clarkson beats Vermont in 2 Colgate beats SLU in 2 Result: RPI at Lynah.by Adam - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 21 years ago
Melissa, does this mean that you're the one holding on to the tix this time?by Adam - Hockey
Re: Hobey Baker - 21 years ago
I think the entire UND team has put up about 8 points total in the past month and a half. Funny things happen when you stop playing Niagara, Canisius, and Bemidji St.by Adam - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 21 years ago
14-day advance purchase is a very avoidable problem, if you're smart about it. 1) Use sites like hotwire or priceline if you don't care what time of day you fly. 2) "Budget airlines" like Southwest, ATA, Air Tran, Jet Blue, etc. often have cheap fares up to the moment (or a few days before) your trip. 3) Use www.bestfares.com to find out various fare codes you'll need to get around tby Adam - Hockey

Maybe this is Volonnino's revenge for the porn thing. He's subscribed all Cornell fans to the Harvard athletics mailing list.by Adam - Hockey
Re: Bracketology article - 21 years ago
Greg, I'm sure they are saying that...but you know as well as I do that we're better than Mercyhurst, 'Bama, et al. QU was god awful last year, I would only expect more of the same from a similiar team this year. Providence on the other hand has beaten some very good teams and plays top competition all year long.by Adam - Hockey
Re: Bracketology article - 21 years ago
See Mo, I disagree that every game neccesarily would be a tough one no matter how the cards are stacked. In fact, I would argue that playing Mercyhurst or 'Bama would be very easy games for Cornell. See QU last year. Sure, we never like to "woof" or whatever people on here say....but at some point realism has to take hold. Playing a MAAC or CHA team is easy; playing Providence inby Adam - Hockey
Re: Re-Elect Darren Rumack for SA - 21 years ago
#11) Degrassi Junior High!!! What a classic, we had to watch it in health class like 100 times in 8th and 9th grade because someone different gets pregnant in every episode. I still have the theme music somewhere in the recesses of my brain...by Adam - Hockey
Re: Yale game in DC - 21 years ago
Does anyone know if they were able to get a special room for this? The CCW newsletter said that if enough people rsvp, we could get our own space. Anyone know the resolution?by Adam - Hockey
Re: Stupid Selection Committee Tricks? - 21 years ago
We "meant" to beat Dartmouth earlier....really we did. That's gotta be at least .5 points.by Adam - Hockey
Re: BU Shorthanded? - 21 years ago
Touche Mark. I wouldn't mind if Harvard knocked us off in the ECAC's, if it meant that our club team was on the ice so that our varsity could rest up for their NCAA #1 seed. What's BU's seed gonna be again? Oh wait, are they even gonna make the tournament?by Adam - Hockey
Re: BU Shorthanded? - 21 years ago
Yes, innocent until proven guilty, but for serious crimes such as assault you aren't always allowed to leave the state. Here's hoping BU gets seeded in Providence.by Adam - Hockey
Re: [not woofing] Albany plans - 21 years ago
As I mentioned to Dianne with the car rental a few days ago, you'll be wasting money if you book a hotel room directly through the hotel chain. Use priceline...if you want a 2* place bid around $35 a night....if you want a 3* place bid around $50-$60 a night. I guarentee this will save you at least 50% of the money. If you want to get an idea of what other people's winning bids have been for tby Adam - Hockey
Re: USCHO Poll, 2/24 - 21 years ago
How do you know we're not getting 4th place or lower votes?by Adam - Hockey
Re: If the Season Ended Today: Thoughts on Regional Pairings - 21 years ago
So, would we actually be better off (i.e. staying in the east with a 2 seed and avoiding a Providence home match-up) if we LOST either to Yale or Princeton or early in the ECAC's?by Adam - Hockey
Re: USCHO question of the week - 21 years ago
Cause, ya know, we're all just jumpin' at the chance to visit Fairbanks in February.by Adam - Hockey
