Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: USCHO ECAC Awards - 21 years ago
As much as we pick on Becky and Jason here on ELF, they're always fairly kind to Cornell. And I know they read this...so....hi!by Adam - Hockey
Re: Hobey - 21 years ago
If you read the rules, fan voting accounts for a very, very small portion of the overall decision making process.by Adam - Hockey
Re: ECAC tickets - 21 years ago
Actually, the Yanks have already clinched for 2003.by Adam - Hockey
Re: Transportation to Ithaca from Syracuse - 21 years ago
Dianne, I would bid for a car through Priceline or Hotwire. For an Upstate NY rental, you won't pay more than $15 a day plus like $6 additional for taxes and fees. It's a waste of money to pay retail, even if you are a member of a frequent rental club. Priceline or Hotwire consistantly save over 70%.by Adam - Hockey
Re: If the Season Ended Today: Thoughts on Regional Pairings - 21 years ago
Wait wait wait.....Cornell's reward for getting a #1 seed is having to play a tough Providence squad in their home city, as opposed to playing a soft Alabama-Huntsville team? Thanks, but no thanks. I'll take a loss to any of our remaining regular season opponents, if that means that we get to play Alabama instead of Providence in the NCAA's.by Adam - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tix - 22 years ago
Just a heads up for those thinking about buying tickets through ticketmaster. Things are starting to really fill up for this weekend: I bought tix through Ticketmaster last night for 3 people. On Saturday we got seats in the second tier, near one of the goals and on Sunday our seats are up in the third tier at center ice. These were the best available through ticketmaster on each day.by Adam - Hockey
The Big Sheet - 22 years ago
Ok, ok...I know that we address this issue almost every year around this time on this Forum...BUT: How do you think the "big sheet" at Placid will impact this year's team, if at all? Are there certain teams in this year's tourament who have a style of play that is suited to the wide open rink? Any thoughts would be appreciated.by Adam - Hockey
Re: It just HAD to be him, didn't it. - 22 years ago
Of course there is an SI jinx. It's the statistical law of regression toward the mean. You are put in SI for doing some extraordinary and probability dictates that your next several accomplishments won't be as great.by Adam - Hockey

If Supermom was your mom, wouldn't you want to be more than an hour from home too?by Adam - Hockey
Re: Off Topic: Is it just me? - 22 years ago
Personally, I enjoyed the Latvia V. Slovakia hockey game last night. And how about the cross-country skier from Thailand. All comments tongue-in-cheek, of course.by Adam - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS! - 22 years ago
If anyone cares, here is how the Boston Globe described Lynah in their Sat morning edition: "All this came before a chanting standing-room-only crowd at Lynah Rink, college hockey's version of Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium, only more disrespectful. Greeted by a seafood medley of fish and lobsters tossed onto the ice by Cornell fans during pregame warmups, Harvard was then assaulted by theby Adam - Hockey
Re: What has to happen for Cornell to end up in Ann Arbor as opposed to Worcester? - 22 years ago
Just curious: Does anyone think that Cornell's strong fan following will play into a decision to keep them east? Obviously we don't have the numbers of say, a Michigan, but we do have a rather large fan base in the east. Are these economic considerations taken into account?by Adam - Hockey
Re: What?!?! - 22 years ago
No, No Ben...I'm a Cornell grad. It's meant for inspiration. This article appeared in "The Crimson" (the Harvard newspaper) in Feb of 2000 and became a big deal around the Cornell campus. The reporter was almost lynched by rabid Faithful.by Adam - Hockey
Never, Ever Forget (Need I Say More?) - 22 years ago
This column comes with a disclaimer: If you are on the Cornell men's hockey team, a coach, or are directly affiliated with the program in any way--STOP READING. That means you. Coach Shafer, put down those scissors. This isn't to appear on any Big Red bulletin board. However, if you are part of the hordes of Cornell fans preparing to descend upon fair Cambridge tomorrow, then take notes.by Adam - Hockey
Re: To Hide Fish - 22 years ago
That's always one of the great Harvard game conundrums: Balancing getting there early with hiding your fish when in your section early. My feeling is, smuggle it in your pants to get in and then just use your friends as a cover until more fans have surrounded you. Worst case scenario, you need to keep your fish...ummm...tucked for a bit until things fill up. It's once a year, you'll live.by Adam - Hockey
