Re: Quinnipiac QF - 6 years ago
Trotsky Scersk '97 Let's hope the Red absolutely blitzes QU We can hope, but that aint gonna happen. It's going to be nip and tuck all the way. I'll be extremely pleased and relieved just to get by them. Think 2006. With the caveat that I didn't expect to blow Colgate out in the 1991 and 1996 quarterfinals, I agree with Greg. I do not expect this to be an easy series for Cornell. Keep inby cbuckser - Hockey

Trotsky No mention of Malott. As far as we know he's good to go, right? Since he recovered from the injury he sustained at Colgate, Jeff Malott has been healthy.by cbuckser - Hockey

As discussed on the Quinnipiac QF thread, all the games in the the Cornell-Quinnipiac series will be televised on tape delay and streamed live on Twitch and Facebook.by cbuckser - Hockey

Re: Women: Cornell vs Colgate, ECAC SF, Sat 4 pm - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla Beeeej Colgate scores on the PP with one second left in regulation for the 5-4 lead. EDIT: 5-4 final, obvs. I wish I could have seen the penalty. The announcers didn't see it and said it was behind the play, an interference call. Hopefully it was a blatant offense, to call a penalty that didn't look like it had anything to do with the play, with less than 1 minute to go in a 4-4 gaby cbuckser - Hockey

Trotsky cbuckser Eleven Sports is simulcasting the ILN feed of tonight's Yale-Quinnipiac game. If you don't get the channel, you can watch a free webcast on Twitch. Thanks! Had no idea ILDN was active for the playoffs. ILN isn't active in the sense of distributing the feeds. But the same people are producing the feeds with essentially the same graphics.by cbuckser - Hockey

Re: So Much Winning - 6 years ago
As I wrote last night: Tonight's win was @CUBigRedHockey's 23rd victory this season. Cornell has won 23 regular-season games only twice before (1967-68 & 1968-69). Tomorrow, Cornell can tie the program record of 24 regular-season wins (1969-70 & 2002-03). #ECACHpckey #LetsGoRed #LGR — Craig Buckser (@cbuckser) February 24, 2018 One caveat is that Cornell didn't beginby cbuckser - Hockey

Matt Stienburg, a Halifax, NS native, has 23 points in 12 games so far in his first season at St. Andrew's College. Here is a video on his 2015 comeback from osteomyelitis in his shoulder. His father, Trevor, is a former first-round pick who played 71 games for the Quebec Nordiques. Trevor is now the head coach for the men's hockey team at St. Mary's University. That's the school where Noah Bby cbuckser - Hockey

Beeeej Jnachod2 It looks like TUFF TV has an online stream that's free on their website. When you go to there is a large WATCH TUFF TV LIVE! banner ad that launches the streaming. The quality is not super great, but it may be an option for some of you. A very pleasant surprise, thanks. The quality is not super-HD, but it's streaming to our TV via AppleTV just fine! Re: CU vs Providence 12/28/15 - 8 years ago
Courtesy of jtwcornell91, here is a recap of the last time Cornell played Providence in a holiday tournament. John's recaps from the SIT were so funny, I remember them 19 years later. Providence is the first D1 men's team to reach Christmas without having lost a single game. The last time that happened was in the fall of 1995, when Colorado College did it. After Christmas, Cornell faced Coloraby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Red Hot Hockey (Screw BU!) - 8 years ago
ugarte I think we played them even in the first period, slightly behind in the second (but still scored two, go figure) and then were dominated in the third and OT. They were faster and crisper, though the first two periods had the best passing I've seen from a Cornell team in years. Something happened in the locker room before the third period and things just fell apart completely. Almost no cohby cbuckser - Hockey

Trotsky scoop85 New recruit -- Cam Donaldson, F, The Gunnery School. Here's what Jeff Cox from the SB Nation College Hockey Blog said about Donaldson last December: Cameron Donaldson, Jr., LC, 7/14/98 - Despite being undersized he had the most upside of any player on the ice all day in Exeter. He flies around the ice, he's got great speed and good hands and is agile on his feet. He was theby cbuckser - Hockey

Roy 82 Trotsky Al DeFlorioILDN shows webcast starting at 8pm est on Saturday. Dumb question: when there is video is there always "production"? It's not like the cameras are automated -- somebody has to be operating them and if there is more than one angle somebody somewhere is deciding when to cut to camera 2. Does the building management actually provide that as a service? Do theby cbuckser - Hockey

Johnny 5 Jim Hyla Johnny 5 Will there be any broadcast of the event? Audio? Video? TV? Only on WHCU, I think. Rats! I was hoping the MSG channel might cover it. In past years in which the game at MSG was not televised, the schools were given the scoreboard "feed" to broadcast on their webcasting platforms. Usually, we'd get an announcement about that a week or so beforby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: What's going on with this year's team? - 8 years ago
KeithK BearLover We have so many injuries now that, I think, last year's team (with a smaller roster than this one) wouldn't have even had enough players to fill out a lineup. There are always enough players to fill out the lineup even if you have to call on Damian Rocke. As long as the Canton Pizza Hut doesn't take out a third of the team.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: What's going on with this year's team? - 8 years ago
Maybe those of us who guessed last year that The Three Seasons of Darkness were indicative of a problematic cohort of players, rather than a systemic failure of the hockey program, are correct. Obviously, it's way too soon to reach any sort of definitive conclusion. But the early returns (as measured by both the process and the results) are encouraging. Through six games, the team has won almby cbuckser - Hockey

Re: Old Cornell Hockey Videos/Photos - 9 years ago
Dafatone Jim Hyla However, I think we did give up more 2+ on 1s than he liked. So that maybe one of next years changes. That was something I noticed this year, especially over the last month where we kinda fell apart. Flow of play seemed like our usual selves (puck in offensive zone, lots of chances, few goals), but the chances we gave up were much more dangerous odd-man rushes than usual. Theby cbuckser - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 ScrewBUHarvardtoo Happy Randy Wilson Day everybody! Would have loved to be there for that. Here's a new article from the Big Red Sports Network about that great day 36 years ago: I was there. Thanks for bringing back the memory of the best period and a quarter of hockey I've ever seen. Towerroad I think you are letting the coaching staff off way too easily. They recrutied the "underperforming class", they coached the "underperforming class", they are the architects of "The System (tm). Sorry, there are some well paid professionals who need to take some responsibility here. I have some criticisms of the coaching staff, but I don't believe that systemic fby cbuckser - Hockey

Jim HylaHow about our seniors didn't turn out as good as projected. Ferlin and maybe Ryan and Bardreau gave us something of what I expected. Ryan is still not as good this year as last, lingering injury? Bardreau has not done as well as I expected, after getting picked for Juniors. Lowry probable came close, but of course he's no longer able. Overall I, and I expect most, were expecting consideraby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: SLU 4 @ Cornell 2 - 9 years ago
Scersk '97 dbilmes According to Brandon Thomas's tweets, it looks like we'll only have 5 defensemen available for the Yale game Friday night. Perhaps there's a forward with a lot of experience at D who could be persuaded to shift back on an emergency basis... There is no need to persuade anybody. Just put Gavin back there.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: USA U18 Exhibition Game - 9 years ago
Trotsky Rauter is shown as an extra forward but I have no memory of him out there. Alex Rauter dressed for the USNDTP game, but he didn't take a shift. He did, however, take a regular shift with Matt Buckles and Jeff Kubiak against Carelton University. Jake Weidner played with his classmates on Friday night, but he replaced Cole Bardreau as the first-line center last night.by cbuckser - Hockey

Trotsky TimV Trotsky ursusminor Trent Shore of Carleton Place (CJHL) for 2016 according to Heisennerg. More size. Height. Only 170 pounds. Where's da beef? He'll bulk up. Kids are freakishly light for their frames. Also, you know, all that knowledge is heavy... He's already up to 195 pounds. I'd be surprised if he arrives at East Hill weighing less than 210.by cbuckser - Hockey

RatushnyFan cbuckser were you at the games or just providing info (helpful of course). I'm curious on the scouting report for some of the new kids like Alex Rauter if anyone saw the games.
