Re: Thank You - 11 years ago
BenThat team also went to (and got thrashed in) an ECAC title game, which is better than this year. In the regular season, 2010-11 never needed to get themselves out of the same hole because they didn't dig one as big in the first place. I agree. BenWhat I want to know from this year is: what happened between going 3-0 up against Maine and the end of the Princeton home game? Whoever knowsby cbuckser - Hockey

Towerroad cbuckser Jim Hyla RatushnyFan Maybe he was mad that Bui is 26? I'm not, I figure the kid just wants to play hockey. I'd probably have done it too if I was good enough. Rand is a good guy, I didn't see it but I hope he at least congratulated him and his team before he left. I'm a big Schafer fan but what exactly did Rand do other than win? Re: Game 3 v. Q - 11 years ago
gomestar ebilmes Kevin Bui is turning 26 next month. weird. I just turned 27 a few days ago and I walked across the stage in December 2007 with my bachelors from Cornell. Next year Cornell will have two 21-year-old freshmen: Mitch Gillam and Jake Weidner. Woody Hudson, who withdrew his commitment, will be a 21-year-old freshman at St. Lawrence. Kevin Bui came to Quinnipiac as a 21-year-oldby cbuckser - Hockey

Trotsky Those shots are flipping amazing, especially the Lowry one and the one immediately preceding it (the "race" ). Incredibly good work. Excellent artistry. I am once again touched by the reception Omar received from his teammates. Indeed, all the Senior Night photos provide a vivid reminder of why we root for these guys.by cbuckser - Hockey

CowbellGuy Jim Hyla Larry72 They usually dress all three goalies -- home and away. Maybe I've missed it at all the away games that I've been to, but Sue Detzer and I both thought it was funny to see Hogan at an away game. It's rare for the third goalie to make trips. Usually Colgate is the only regular season away game they'll take all three to, assuming they have three. Travel restrictions mby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Wallowing - 11 years ago
Jordan 04 No doubt what the Princeton coaches did was very smart. Great move, that many would not make. To try to get home-ice advantage in the CCHA quarterfinals, Ferris State tried the same thing against Michigan at Yost. Had Ferris State scored, Michigan would have lost home-ice advantage for the first round. The hockey game finished in a 1-1 tie, and Michigan prevailed in the shootout. Theby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Pre-weekend - 11 years ago
Against Michigan in last year's NCAA Tournament, I would have taken the 2 minutes instead of a penalty shot for Locke Jillson. When Locke had the breakaway, Cornell was in the midst of killing an Armand deSwardt major penalty.by cbuckser - Hockey

sah67 Sean Collins got a solid 15:31 of ice time in his NHL debut, a 3-2 loss for the Blue Jackets against Anaheim. The Blue Jackets' beat reporter for the Columbus Dispatch wrote in his postgame blog entry: Aaron Portzline Sean Collins made his NHL debut, playing left wing on a line with Brassard and Umberger. Collins and Umberger won a ton of pucks. Umberger and Brassard each had five shotsby cbuckser - Hockey

RitaDoes anyone know why Colin Greening wasn't in the lineup for the Sens tonight? I saw that the Sens recalled 3 players from Binghamton, but didn't mention if anyone got sent down in return. Re: New recruit - 11 years ago
tretiak The jump from prep school to D1 is made a lot less rarely today than it was 20, 30, or 40 years ago. That's because the growth of hockey across the US has led to diversity of playing options and increasing age of D1 hockey players. New England prep hockey is a distant second to MN in terms skill, but it still produces a significant number of D1 and NHL players. Hockey East and some Ivby cbuckser - Hockey
Re: New recruit - 11 years ago
TrotskyIf Boston prep hockey is anything like it was back in the 70's and 80's, it's a different breed of cat. Catholic Memorial used to have teams that could have competed in the NCAA. Many of the players did soon thereafter--mostly for BC and BU. The jump from prep school to D1 is made a lot less rarely today than it was 20, 30, or 40 years ago.by cbuckser - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Aints - 11 years ago
ScrewBU The smoking gun for me would be Ferlin's Lowry's stick to the groin "cup check" in the Yale game. It was right on the faceoff, near Section A, in a nationally televised game (I think was still a close game at that point, and as I recall it was mid 3rd period.) For a player to do that and play the next night, you know the coach is OK with it. You can't even make the excuseby cbuckser - Hockey

gonyr Trotsky 3 is a lot for Schafer. I wonder if any are wavering and this is insurance. OTOH, we haven't had a really gripping goalie controversy since D'Alessio-Crozier. Always thought of that as more of a platoon than a controversy. How about Bandurski-Skazyk for one year in the early '90s? Why must you reopen old wounds?
