Re: Predict Final Score of Today's Game - 21 years ago
WMU played like scared rabbits at the start of last night's game. I wouldn't expect that tonight. A win by any score will please me. See any recent Dartmouth game.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: Morris - 21 years ago
My sentiments exactly, Keith. If your boss is out to get you, the last thing you want to do is assault one of the folks who works for you. Morris was a very successful coach, and I've always said that, most often in defense of him on the "old" Round Table. I hope he lands on his feet.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Jim Hyla '67 wrote: In regards to the goalies this weekend it sounds like Lenny. He said he always tries to put the best team on the ice. Makes sense. We get few enough out-of-conference games to not try our best to win 'em all. Playing less than our best could result in a loss here, and might not change the outcomes in Estero either.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: Clarkson On the Hotseat!!! - 21 years ago
Frankly, Rich, it seems to me Morris got exactly what he deserved. How you and others can claim this is in any way unfair is a great mystery to me. Assaulting one of your players is quite simply unacceptable behavior. All you have to do is read what the eyewitnesses described. I've been a college vice president, and have a pretty good understanding of what gets you the gate. What he did wasby Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Re: Congrats Age...USCHO front page - 21 years ago
One has to wonder if the cost of erecting these embarrassments to the University exceeded what the cost would have been to maintain free Internet broadcasts. How could someone moan about a tight budget and then squander money like this? Could anyone really have thought these atrocities would result in increased attendance at football games? Seriously? Re: Lines? - 21 years ago
Best as I could make out in the Sunday BU game: Bâby/Vesce/Moulson Paolini/McRae/Hynes Palahicky/Knoepfli/Pegoraro Hornby/Iggulden/Cam Abbott Chris Abbott, Varteressian, and one or two others have played as well, depending on injuries. I'd guess the first two lines are pretty well set. The last two can change with the game roster. Corrections welcomed.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: World Junior Championships - 21 years ago
Seems to me the OSU team that beat us in Florida last year was missing a couple of players selected for the world juniors. IMHO, only a fool of a coach would stand in the way of a kid chosen to play for his country in a World Championship tournament. Sounds like something a misanthropic NHL owner might do, but not a college coach. Bobby Orr, you may recall, at the end of his NHL career cby Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: Cornell now doing banner ads! - 21 years ago
IIRC, this eCornell stuff is a for-profit subsidiary, trying to cash in on the distance-learning craze that others like Stanford, MIT, and Penn State are offering business and industry. Seems to me I read recently that John Neumann, who was a year or two ahead of me, was named interim CEO of this initiative. It was announced two or three years ago without real discussion with the faculty, who aby Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Re: Thoughts of BU-CU & Beyond - 21 years ago
If that was the 0-9 (following Age's convention ) game, it's pretty hard to view it as a win. Especially if you watched it, as I did, on Boston public television. Seems to me we started out something like 10-0-1 against BU until the consolation loss in the 1971 ECACs.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Western Michigan - 21 years ago
Just looked at their season to-date and saw WMU tied Maine at Alfond in the second game of a weekend pair, with Maine needing an extra-attacker goal to salvage the tie. They also split with Ferris State in a home-and-home. Anyone here familiar with them?by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
