scoop85 ursusminor WH | @RPI_WHockey (14-18-5) concludes season with #ECACHockey Quarterfinals defeat at No. 4 Cornell, 6-1, in Game 3. Engineers are first 8th seed to win a playoff game in conference history. #RPIHockey #ECACHockey— RPI Athletics (@RPIAthletics) March 3, 2019 I find it hard to believe that this was a first. Trotsky 6:31, herpa-derp still on WHCU. They've been missing their marks worse and worse. And another butchered pre-game interview with the Cornell coach, who this night was not Mike Schafer, but Ben Syer. Sounds like tonight we're mostly worried about Yale's Joe Snively.by ACM - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Brown - 5 years ago
Beeeej scoop85 He did that after an embarrassing loss at Army about 20 years ago Yup, he did it his first season as head coach (1995-96) after losing at Army 4-1, including having them run around Army's rink for a while still in their gear before letting them on the bus. He regretted it so much (because he had to suffer with the players' stench, too) that he swore he'd never do it again. Not toby ACM - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Brown - 5 years ago
Jim Hyla I took some time getting out of Providence and to I95 on the way to New Haven. Surprised was I when I passed a Swarthout bus. Was that the team? Did Coach put the guys on the bus without showering? It wasn’t the band, they were staying with the Brown band for the night. Who else could it be? Women's basketball team also played at Brown last night.by ACM - Hockey

Re: Might be a record - 3 goals in 52 seconds - 5 years ago
KenP ACM Not even close to a record. Cornell scored 3 goals in 24 seconds in an 8-2 victory over Princeton on Feb. 28, 1976. According to TBRW it was 3 goals in just 15 seconds. Greg transcribed the time of the third goal incorrectly. On the source material I have, it's clearly 2:29, not 2:20.by ACM - Hockey

Re: 2019-01-04 #20 Cornell at Princeton - 5 years ago
For the duties of the off-ice officials: they're spelled out in the rule book. For the media timeout protocol (from an ECAC memo distributed to coaches and administrators last September): The following timeout protocol/format applies to ALL games (i.e., exhibition, regular season and postseason) featuring or involving ECAC Hockey teams, and conducted at ECAC Hockey facilities. Re: Alumni in the Pros - Where are They - 5 years ago
It appears that Holden Anderson '17 will be playing for something called the Amiens Gothiques in France. Here's the club's official announcement. And for those of you not fluent in French, here's the Google Translate version: Could it be the Gothic's weapon of death next year in power play? it is quite possible at the sight of the monstrous shoot that has this young American defender 2by ACM - Hockey
Re: Opponents News 2: Hockey's the Reason for the Season - 5 years ago
Beeeej Trotsky BeeeejThen again, this sort of thing happens occasionally - maybe not all three goalies, but I recall at least one occasion (perhaps when Pelletier left?) when Cornell had to scramble after the usual recruiting season to put a credible backup goalie on the bench quickly, and it didn't turn out all that badly. The Bad Time was 1993. Parris Duffus left early after 1992. That leftby ACM - Hockey
Re: New Rules for 2018-19 - 5 years ago
Larry72 Trotsky This also takes away some of the heartburn of working young guys into the lineup. Lots more flexibility in putting a guy on the long end of the bench who gets only a couple shifts per period. Or you could even have a soccer striker-like substitution late in the game with a guy who is fresh. I like it. You can do a lot with it and Mike is creative. It also makes benching aby ACM - Hockey

Re: 2018-19 Schedule - 6 years ago
LynahFaithful Is it possible we could have a new coach this coming year? Schafer's youngest child is graduating from Cornell this spring and this might be the time for him to retire... I'm NOT saying it's going to happen, but all things considered, I could see it happen. Schafer's youngest child is Michelle, who is a sophomore at Penn State.by ACM - Hockey

jeff '84 Trotsky redice Trotsky Grady is the second best hockey play by play I've ever heard, after Dean Vrooman in Portland. He was with Cornell for 13 seasons (I had no idea it was that long). We've been blessed to have a strong of terrific announcers in Grady, Adam, and Jason, but Grady is in a class by himself. It's a shame you didn't get to enjoy Roy Ives.... He was the best... Re: Cornell 1 St. Lawrence 0 - 6 years ago
margolism Following up on someone else's comment a while ago, in 2018, Cornell has only allowed one goal in the six games that Cairns has played. Cairns has played in seven games. In the first game, Niagara scored four goals, two of which he was directly responsible for. In the remaining six games, Cornell has allowed only one goal; Cairns has spent most of those games watching from the bench,by ACM - Hockey
Re: Cornell on TV 2017-18 - 6 years ago
NTLESQ Is it normal for the ivy league network to just have a picture of an H with no sound this close to the game. The announcers appeared for a moment then disappeared. It took me much of the afternoon to get the archives videos working. Alas, I can't access ESPN3 as that has become a paid option via cable or high speed subscribers. Yes, it's normal. Uninformative, but normal.by ACM - Hockey

GBR1234 Just wondering... if anyone knows whether CU came in to Ohio by bus or airline? It's about 8.5 hour drive. I don't know, but I can't imagine any scenario in which flying would be more advantageous than busing. Shortest flight from Ithaca to Cincinnati (probably closest major airport to Oxford) is 4+ hours, from Syracuse to Cincinnati about 4 1/2 hours. Add in time on both ends for loadby ACM - Hockey
Re: Where are our Alumni Playing Now - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla Trigger I’ve got two more additions: Joe Deven is playing with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) John McCarron is playing with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) Deven is actually the Stingrays captain. Let’s Go Red! Thanks, done It's Devin, actually.by ACM - Hockey
