toddlose Was at my uncles earlier today to help him “declutter” his garage and came across a copy of this. It was a shade before my time, but think a few on here may find it interesting. I like the guy drinking in the photo. You would think he would have been paying attention to the photographer....or was he?by Roy 82 - John Spencer Is Dead

scoop85 ursusminor I am honored to be given the opportunity to commit to Cornell University to further my education and hockey career. I would like to sincerely thank all who have helped me along the way, but especially my parents, coaches and billets. #YellCornell pic.twitter.com/zV0F3kzYLX— nick wolfenberg (@NWolfenberg) December 2, 2022 We appear to be loading up on quality defensemeby Roy 82 - Hockey

mike1960 Find a young coach who has won at the DII level. That's always a good formula. Look at the guy at Kansas, for example. Get a person from a low-level UK soccer league who speaks in folksy cliches. Make a documentary about it.by Roy 82 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Goalie great Bob Rule passed away: "In addition to being named Cornell’s lacrosse team most valuable player in 1971, Rule was also a member of the Big Red’s hockey team in 1969-70 as a backup goaltender, earning the unique distinction of being the first Cornell athlete to play on two national championship teams in different sports." CAS I believe Cornell should invest more in athletics & not accept losing over long periods in a “visible” program (read football). As an aside, President Pollack must be doing something right. Fundraising is at a record level ($900MM in gifts last fiscal year). Interest in attending Cornell also is very strong, with record applications & yield, resulting in only a 7% admit rate. Watched the USA flame out against a Czech team that was described as being big and lumbering compared to the highly skilled and nimble USA. Where have I heard that before? Anyway, seeing the red-clad Czechs I was imagining a future Cornell-Harvard game. Coronato, who was so lethal in previous matches seemed to have largely disappeared for this game.by Roy 82 - Hockey

ugarte ugarte At the U20 championships, Cornella has won his first 3 matches (8-0 over KAZ, 10-0 over BUL, 6-5 comeback win in the QF over IRI) and will be in the semis. That session starts at 11am. Favorite has to be Sujeet (IND) who beat Yianni at a Senior level tournament last month. Cornella list the semi 4-0 and will wrestle for bronze tomorrow in a session that starts at 11. jeff '84 Denis Ladouceur, a Canadian and former COO at a Wall Street firm and transplanted New Yorker, felt as if the city was missing one main meeting place: a sports bar devoted to hockey fans. In December 2021, he opened The Canuck on Ninth Avenue in Chelsea to appeal to the legion of hockey fans in the New York area that follows the New York Rangers, New York Islanders and New Jersey Deviby Roy 82 - Hockey

Trotsky RatushnyFan CAS Think the Harvard recruit is Ben MacDonald, who’s dad is former Harvard player Lane MacDonald. Amazing how much taller he is than his dad. I met Lane a few times when he was at Alta Communications (PE fund). Super nice guy. I think he mentioned he married a Cornell grad who is a Cornell hockey fan?Not the first time he fucked us. Jeff Hopkins '82 Robb KenP Even if we won that last, all-important game I'd still say Maryland is the better team overall and deserving of #1 in the polls. Absolutely. Check out MD's box scores for the season - ahead of PSU by 18-3 after 3, ahead of JHU by 22-4 after 3. We didn't do that kind of damage to the likes of Hobart and Lehigh, not to mention our one-goal squeaker over that very sameby Roy 82 - Other Sports

billhoward scoop85 dbilmes Does anyone know the meaning of the sign a Q student was holding which said: Cornell, oldest joke in hockey. I thought the kid holding the sign looked about 10 years old, but I guess that wouldn’t disqualify him from being a Q student. CU2007 But that’s been true of viruses and illness forever. Why cancel everything and force masks etc indefinitely now? I think that as we approach, in the US alone, 1 million dead and still around 1000 deaths per day that there might just be something different about COVID compared to other viruses and illnesses in our lifetimes. BearLover Lots of IMO baseless takes in this thread. This is not a “different team” from what we saw earlier this season. Cornell was in basically the same position in the PWR (somewhere in the 20s) for almost the entire first half. They tricked a lot of poll voters and forum posters by barely beating, or tying and then beating in OT, crap teams. And it certainly isn’t true that the team “doesn’tby Roy 82 - Hockey

billhoward Bleep. Silver is first loser. Bronze is "I made the podium." But still, very nice. About Cornell undergrads winning Gold while on the Hill: I was about to say, didn't Dryden backstop Canada's Olympic team his senior year, 1970, took two weeks off and Bob Rule in the nets keeping Cornell hockey unbeaten.
