I'm not going to live that down for a while, am I? I blame Beeeej for scheduling his wedding during the exhibition games. I need a preseason too.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: Cornell 3, CC 2 (Saturday) postgame - 11 years ago
Robb CowbellGuy If you're wondering who they're talking about it's Shayne Gostisbehere. Yeah, him. Had no freaking clue how to spell it... Thanks to the ELynah Twitter feed I know how to spell all sorts of odd names. Well, last names anyway. I had to look up if it was Shayne or Shane.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: Sorry for the downtime - 11 years ago
KeithK What difference does DC vs. Dallas make? Are you just thinking that DC is closer geographically to a larger number of visitors? (I suppose thacould matter in the aggregate.) Or is there something else? Mostly that. I'm sure it's negligible but it'll at least be a few less hops for people in the northeast, where most of the traffic originates. Also, I don't trust Texans.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Sorry for the downtime - 11 years ago
Migrated to a new server last night and the DNS propagation for the forum took hours longer than all the others for some reason. On the plus side, the server is much, much faster, and located in D.C. instead of Dallas so performance should be a lot better under heavy load. Enjoy!by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: College Hockey TV-Cable, Satellite or Both - 11 years ago
There's a ton of college hockey on DirecTV if you get the sports pack. I've had both and cable is miserable in so many ways. And if you do decide to get DirecTV and get a referral (preferably mine!) you'll get $10 off a month for 10 months.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros:October - 11 years ago
Roy 82 CowbellGuy pfibiger I read an article that said that with a new baby, Matt Moulson isn't interested in playing overseas and he's just working out in CT. Not sure what his relationship is like with the CU program after Chris left the team. Ding ding ding... I don't speak Bell. Could you elaborate? Ding ding. Ding, ding ding-ding ding. (Ding ding). Now I've gone and said too much.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: RedCast improvements wishlist - 11 years ago
It's irrelevant. Cornell has a contract with a service provider who is going to use their own equipment.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: RedCast improvements (how others do it) - 11 years ago
You harp on incessantly about raising the cameras. Operating under the assumptions that you've been to Lynah Rink and that your eyes work, you should be aware that they can't go any higher unless they install a retractable roof. When they expanded, the press box got moved to the new top of the seats and is completely sandwiched up against the ceiling. Let it go.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 11 years ago
You're never going to be able to extract the stream to another service without the Flash layer handling authentication. You might be able to use something like Jaksta to archive the stream as it's coming in and if you can directly share that file out yourself you may be able to make something work. Or if you have a recent Mac and an AppleTV you could just use AirPlay to stream your whole displby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: ELynah Forum Update - 11 years ago
andyw2100 I had an issue yesterday (8/26/12) morning using Windows XP and Chrome. Although the issue seems to be resolved now, and had an easy work-around, I thought I'd mention it, as this thread seems to be set up for just this kind of thing. For some reason I was unable to correctly log in. I would log in with my username and password, which were recognized, but the forums would appear as iby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: NHL Draft - 11 years ago
Scersk '97 jkahn Joakim Ryan to the Sharks in round 7, 198th overall. I'm kind of staggered by how late he went—a steal for the Sharks. As the last round was winding up I was already composing a tweet in my head about how a lot of teams would regret not drafting him when he enters free agency in 3 years.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Cornell's Mount Rushmore - 11 years ago
Yes, probably. His achievements as a player warrant it. His efforts as an alumnus do not. The first probably outweighs the second. Dryden had an impact at Cornell for 3 years. Joe has had a significant impact at Cornell for about 20 and will likely continue to. So, yeah, for a Cornell Mount Rushmore, I absolutely think Joe deserves to be up there before Dryden.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Cornell's Mount Rushmore - 11 years ago
Trotsky I think when all is said and done Schafer may be on the mountain. Harkness and Dryden are absolute locks. Nieuwy was a wonderful Cornell player but his career is also colored by what he accomplished in the NHL. For sheer Cornell chops I would go with Doug Ferguson and Lance Nethery as the other two. And Nieuwy has continued to give back to Cornell since the day he left, whereas Drydeby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Generic Off Season Thread - Steve Bernier 5-min major - 11 years ago
billhoward Google, the lazy person's way to prove a point, shows 23,000 hits on "steve bernier bill buckner," so maybe it's not an isolated thought. Accounting for your authoring 22,000 of them, it's still pretty negligible.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Generic Off Season Thread - Lake Placid wants us back - 11 years ago
I've certainly given serious thought to doing a new version. After I did that one, I vowed never to do it again because it was north of 60 hours of work to stitch the images together and clean up the edges, not to mention all the test prints. However, the tools (and my gear) have gotten a lot better so it would be far less painful. I'd like to also choose a less auspicious game . So if you feel lby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Generic Off Season Thread - 12 years ago
The other issue that hasn't been mentioned is (at least as of the ECAC's last trip) that the facilities are crap. Hot, nasty locker rooms that they won't let you put fans in, players sitting in the hallway, etc. I don't think you're going to get much love from the coaches for LP.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
