Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Post Season Awards - 11 years ago
Ben & carpy85 Wah wah wah. Based on your wealth of knowledge from time spent in the locker room, playing, practicing, and traveling with the team? Don't forget, the players vote on captains. If you want to pass judgment on what you see on the ice, fine, but suggesting you know better than the team itself as to who might best fill a role that's largely performed behind closed doors is foolisby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Your Cornell captains for the 2013-14 season: John McCarron will wear the 'C'; Cole Bardreau and Andy Iles are the assistants.— Brandon Thomas (@BThomasIthaca) April 24, 2013by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Best ECAC rink - 11 years ago
No mention of Thompson either. Probably the best sightlines I've seen anywhere. Full bowl all the way around, steep incline, good seating, open concourse around the top. Amenities are not stellar, but I'm still a fan.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Rita RichH CowbellGuy CHN iPhone users for this season. Fairly similar trend. Rita? Not me. I still have a dumb phone. I guess the question to ask is when were those hits from Florida? I bet a lot of them were from Dec. 28th/29th and originated from Germain Arena. The others probably are from technologically advanced snowbirds (there are lot from the northeast, MN, WI on the gulf coast sideby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Josh '99 RatushnyFan We're all victims of circumstances, right? That said Lenny's 2002-2003 #s look a little better than Hartzell's.That was a "JUUUUST a bit outside" kind of "a little", not a literal "a little", right? Re: TBRW Award: Determination in a Support Role - 11 years ago
Nor should top-4 defensemen be considered supporting cast. Just because they're not on the scoresheet doesn't mean they aren't vital to every game and log a ton of ice time.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Announcing the College Hockey News iPhone App! - 11 years ago
Tale of the Tape uses data that's always available so, at a minimum, that will always be shown when you tap Box Score. The rest of it is dependent on data from the live stats of each game. NCAA owns the rights to the tourney games so they're not part of our package. Everything you see in the app from the tourney is done manually. We assembled partial box score data after yesterday's games. Howeveby CowbellGuy - Hockey

marty The new Android version isn't showing the in game box today 3/29. Is live stats working during the NCAAs? There are no live stats for NCAA tournament games.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Should He Stay or Should He Go - 11 years ago
Towerroad marty So when I reply "Should he stay", am I voicing my opinion or posing a question? Don't over think it. Fair enough. Obviously you didn't.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros: March 2013 - 11 years ago
sah67 Riley Nash, playing on Carolina's second line with Jokinen and Skinner tonight against the Rangers, was flat out robbed in close by Lundqvist in the 2nd period. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the Rangers came right back and scored just a few seconds later. Clearly you meant "as is often the case" in a general hockey context, not a Rangers context.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: We can't possibly win - 11 years ago
What kind of Cornell meetup is scheduled during a hockey playoff game? Cornell was opportunistic. They were generally outplayed, scored 2 PPGs in a game, which they've only done to open the season at CC, home against Clarkson, and at St. Lawrence, and got a lot of help from the iron behind Iles and unlucky whiffs by Q players looking at wide-open nets. I hope they have more than that for tomorrowby CowbellGuy - Hockey

I need to do some work on the main ELynah site. Note that there are 5 pages of images. The forward/back buttons on the full-size images only work for the ones on the current page.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Jim Hyla Larry72 They usually dress all three goalies -- home and away. Maybe I've missed it at all the away games that I've been to, but Sue Detzer and I both thought it was funny to see Hogan at an away game. It's rare for the third goalie to make trips. Usually Colgate is the only regular season away game they'll take all three to, assuming they have three. Travel restrictions might be difby CowbellGuy - Hockey

RichH CowbellGuy RichH The behavior I'm seeing is that I once turned on the "game reminder" and have it turned off now, but I'm still getting game reminders. It was mildly startling to have been just about to turn my cars ignition just as a very loud refs whistle sounded. Game reminder uses the organ sound. Your story has holes in it. Re: Wallowing - 11 years ago
In the Harvard broadcasters' defense, apparently the internet was down for most or all of the game so they had no idea what was going on elsewhere in the league. In their nondefense, there are these things called smartphones...by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Wallowing - 11 years ago
The ELynah Twitter feed had you covered on this. Princeton win = 10th, tie = 9th, Harvard win = 8th. If Harvard didn't suck and scored an empty-netter, you'd be singing a different tune.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

Jim Hyla CowbellGuy Jim Hyla Any chance you could add a "back to (date)" button on the Box Score page? Most often during games I click on a game to see the scoring, then go to box score. At that point I usually want to go back to the date page to look at different games. It would be nice to skip going back through the scoring page. Thanks for doing this, you've almost brought USCHOby CowbellGuy - Hockey

andyw2100 marty Andy and his new mustache saved the game for us over and over. Some of his apparently meta-physical moves were both a joy and gut wrenching. Iles made a glove save shortly before Union scored their second goal that I thought might have been the save of the night. The guy in front of me was certain the shot wasn't actually on goal, and would have gone high and wide. Any opiniby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Yes, the OS notification preferences always take precedence as to whether you receive notifications or not. The game alerts are local (generated by the app, not sent from a server), so they don't fall under that setting. The first time you ran the app, it would have asked you if you want to allow it to receive notifications and you likely declined, but you obviously figured out how to turn it on.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Announcing the College Hockey News iPhone App! - 11 years ago
nyc94 Sorry if this has been covered but any idea why the Alerts feature for Favorite Team Goals is not working? I turn it On and hit save and then never receive an alert. When I go back to look at the Alerts & Reminders page the switch has flipped back to Off. iPhone 4S, latest version of the app, latest iOS update. Haven't seen that behavior and not sure I can explain it. Only thing Iby CowbellGuy - Hockey
