JDeafv CowbellGuy You can expect that by next season. Really? Making promises to help with the Android App now!?!? I'm making promises for the iPhone app. Whatever you glom off it is between you and your god.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Dartmouth Game 1 (Friday) Pregame - 12 years ago
Also, I'm quite sure the second goal was D'Agostino's. His initial shot went under the crossbar and back out quickly. It was fairly inconsequential since Espo knocked in the rebound, but those of us with a good view of it were pretty sure the first shot went in.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: College Hockey News Android App - Alpha Release 0.4.1 - 12 years ago
marty marty Next best thing for Android. One nice thing about this link is that you can click through to a live box score during any game in progress. CHN Live Scoreboard Link I apologize for asking for more to be done with a fine FREE app. But the ability to see the live box by clicking on the link I have posted makes me wish for the same function on the app. Thanks again. Re: Cornell games VHS to DVD - 12 years ago
marty CowbellGuy I use a Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR for HD capture. I was a bit skeptical about the price, but it actually works great. The only problem I've run into so far is audio sync issues when using optical digital audio input, and that only happens when the feed changes between 5.1 and 2-channel during capture. No problems with 2-channel analog audio input. It has component video input, so theby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Re: Cornell 1 RPI 2 (ot) - 12 years ago
This is also just speculation, but I had the impression that it wasn't about superstition as much as it was about refusing to impart any importance to it. Kind of a "we haven't accomplished anything yet" thing.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 RPI 2 (ot) - 12 years ago
Chris '03 My vague recollection is that in '02 and/or '03 the captains were presented the trophy before a home game after they'd clinched. They politely accepted the trophy, put it down, and moved on with their lives. It certainly wasn't skated or anything of the sort in either year. I specifically recall Clarkson being given the trophy in 2001 at Lake Placid. Of course, fittingly, the team dby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Cornell Alumni in the Pros: February 2012 - 12 years ago
TSNAccording to Gordon McIntyre of the Vancouver Province, the injury to Canucks forward Byron Bitz might affect the team's trade deadline strategy. The big forward who has missed over a year due to four different surgeries has recently returned to the club, but after seven games, he needs time off. If he can't be in the lineup on a regular basis, the club might look to add some size on or befby CowbellGuy - Hockey

DVDs. How quaint. I've abandoned that practice, if for no other reason than the average shelf life of writable optical media being roughly that of a robust fruit fly. I've gone to all-digital archiving of stuff I want to keep. I have a Canopus ADVC110 for doing VHS capture, as it does a good job of noise reduction and doesn't crap out when there are audio breaks like all the cheaper stuff does. Iby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Jim Hyla ajh258 Robb ...and Northeastern swallows. Congrats to Sucks for winning its 15th Beanpot consolation game.Gives us a boost in PWR. Can't complain. As we wait for the obligatory, why are you worrying about PWR, we have to win the ECAC to get a bid. And that's probably correct. Even if we beat Union in 2 weeks, if we then lose the ECAC, we'll probably be back where we are now. And that's nby CowbellGuy - Hockey

ftyuv CowbellGuy Roy 82 But how many goals and assists that you have is clearly a function of who is on the ice with you. Ryan Vesce scored his NHL goals when he was on a line with Joe Thornton, not when he was the fourth line center. So I am not sure why goals/assists is any better an indicator of individual value than +/-. Sure, it's a function of who you're on the ice with, but if you're picby CowbellGuy - Hockey

billhoward Is there a stat you'd rate higher, or do you find stats not meaningful in ice hockey? I think stats are very meaningful. Just not that one. And unfortunately due to the nature of the game, there aren't really many stats in hockey that tell you much. Goals, assists, blocked shots, hits, time-on-ice, face-off percentage are useful. Shots and scoring percentage are somewhat meaningful.by CowbellGuy - Hockey

billhoward CowbellGuy Jim Hyla Completely unrelated, but reading his bio reminded me to ask: where can I find +/- stats for all college players? Anyone know? If it's not on collegehockeystats.net, it's unlikely to be anywhere. They don't seem to be reporting it anywhere, which is just as well since it's such a useless stat. What stats would you rate higher? Adjusted plus-minus, relative to teamby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Aaron M. Griffin I would be fine with that. Their coverage is not bad either. Our options are dwindling. On a self-interested note, Time Warner Cable Sports seems more preoccupied with schools that pay them. FYPby CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate - 12 years ago
What Ugarte said. I'm just saying saying that by the time we lost to UMass in Florida, an at-large bid was an extremely-unlikely possibility, somewhat undone by an unexpected weekend in Colorado, but then pretty quickly redone of late. Math is your friend. I'm saying don't obsess over it now because it's too late.by CowbellGuy - Hockey
Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 12 years ago
While you're not wrong, you're still coming at it from a TV production standpoint. You can legitimately cut some corners for a webcast. First off, you're not broadcasting in HD. You will probably do just fine with something like a Canon GL-2, which I think is already a step up from what they're using now. You're absolutely right that a big part of the problem is the camera operator. Someone who kby CowbellGuy - Hockey

Jim Hyla Well, I have to say, if this is the reason it's closing, "Less than 10 years ago, kids would come out and start drinking after class … and we’d be busy all afternoon,” he said. “But drinking habits have changed.”, then it's a good thing. Not really. Everyone just pre-games in their residence all night (whether to save money or because no one else is out), then shows up from 1by CowbellGuy - John Spencer Is Dead
