Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Respect from the WCHA? - 19 years ago
From the East and from the ECAC. I know he covered RPI for at least a few years while I was at Cornell. I like his picks. And of course Adam W. is sticking with the Red after the superstitious BC pick in 2003.by Josh 03 - Hockey
Respect from the WCHA? - 19 years ago
Todd Milewski, the CSTV/USCHO's WCHA columnist picked Cornell as a Frozen Four team today in his CSTV Tuesday chat. "Denver, CC, Cornell and Michigan somehow finding their way to Columbus, and with CC taking home the title." I don't mind the West writing Cornell off one bit, but it's nice to read someone out there giving the team a nod.by Josh 03 - Hockey

A Vermont ECAC final, particularly against Colgate (to solidify their position in the PWR) could send 5 ECAC teams to the FF. Of course, my money's on the Big Red.by Josh 03 - Hockey

Don't think there's information about a ticket limit. But if there is a limit, I would count on bringing other peoples IDs not getting you very far.by Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: Who we should be rooting for Sunday, 03/13 - 19 years ago
I would want Dartmouth to get an at-large bid, because I say the more ECAC teams in the tournament, the better. It's good for the leauge and thus good for Cornell. Same reason I rooted for SLUt in 2000 and root for Sucks when it comes NCAA time. Too bad that's never seemed to work! But it's true that having Dartmouth in makes it more difficult to place Cornell. Though again, it's impossibby Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: Who we should be rooting for Sunday, 03/13 - 19 years ago
And a Dartmouth win--I'd assume--would help their chances for an at large bid, and the more ECAC teams in the NCAAs, the better. Though someone could tell me that Dartmouth losing to Vermont would help their chances of getting a bid. Who knows? Well, someone knows, but I don't. Still, I agree that I'd rather face Vermont.by Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: Albany ticket suggestions - 19 years ago
If that UVM-Syracuse game is a 12:00 one, it would be possible to catch that game in Worcester, and make the easy 2 hour drive to Albany to arrive in time for a UVM - Cornell game. That is if fans want to make the drive to see their team take on 2 Central New York favorites in a row. Of course, if Vermont were to play in the ECAC championship game on Friday. We're hoping (and expecting) thatby Josh 03 - Hockey

Re: Advice Needed - 19 years ago
It's usually possible to find tickets outside from someone with extras, usually for face or just slightly above face. But for the Harvard game and playoffs, that could be a different story. Someone's already made the comment about TV coverage. Lynah Rink will be electric, but you won't find "College Hockey Playoff Atmosphere" in the town. Does the Minnesota campus have this atmospheby Josh 03 - Hockey

And tickets to the Final game can generally be purchased for about $5-$10 outside of the arena after each semi-final game.by Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: Dragon Day vs. ECACHL in Albany - 19 years ago
I know that was the case in 2000. Had to leave Ithaca during Dragon Day on a Thursday on my way up to see Cornell beat Clarkson in the PIG. ~Joshby Josh 03 - Hockey

Last hat I threw on the Ice (for a Moulson hatrick), the students who pick up the student rink assistants who came out to collect them just started throwing them back into the crowd. Dullards. I didn't get mine back.by Josh 03 - Hockey

While we're ragging on the USCHO chat insiders, here are a few gems from yesterday... Re: 1/28 - Cornell vs. Clarkson Cornell Alumni Happy Hour in NYC - Park Avenue Country Club - 8:00 PM - 19 years ago
This game starts at 8, and with the TV timeouts it should last until 11, so you couldn't really stay until the end (though you could make it if you took a taxi and the bridges aren't too bad). ~Joshby Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: Traylen benched for tonight - 19 years ago
What a punk. He deserves much credit for the way he played in game 3 last year. And I don't even blame him for mocking A & B last year when game 3 was in hand and he successfully endured 3 nights of taunting from the faithful. But it sure made me hate him!by Josh 03 - Hockey
Traylen benched for tonight - 19 years ago
So says the CSTV website in their preview of tonights game. Junior goalkeeper Dustin Traylen had a lot to do with Clarkson's wins at Lynah last season, but he will not start Friday's game, as Roll has benched him for taking a bad penalty last week against RPI. That leaves freshman David Leggio and sophomore Kyle McNulty to compete for the start.by Josh 03 - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson in DC - 19 years ago
So I'm organizing a watch party of the Cornell Clarkson game. As you know if you are reading this post, the game is on Friday, January 27th, at 7pm. Just wanted to give people on the forum a heads up that we will be having the party. It will most likely be at the Grand Slam Sports Bar. I'll post more detailed information soon, as it becomes available. If you are in the DC area, I'm looking fby Josh 03 - Hockey
