Re: watching the Quinnipiac game in _ _ _ - 18 years ago
Is DC not only the capital of the nation, but also of Faithful Alumni? Seems like we can more than compete with NYC and Boston. The fact that our partners don't demand a $40 tab per person like SoF helps.by Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: [OT] Cornell on Berman's Top 10 on Sportscenter - 18 years ago
Cornell basketball plays the first NCAA DI game of the season tonight at 6pm against St. Francis at the Carrier Dome (part of the Coaches vs Cancer Classic). It was cool to see their name in a DC paper this morning. Though I'm sure the Syracuse game that follows will get all of the Sportscenter attention, maybe CU will get their 2nd mention of the week. Re: 4 Point Weekend Recap and Commentary Tonight - WVBR - 18 years ago
I thought spam was unsolicited, bulk, junk e-mail, not posts on a forum that you actively access, and choose which threads to read and access. While plugging VBR may amount to a free ad, letting everyone know that there is a free place to listen to interviews with Big Red players, listen to segments about Cornell hockey, and perhaps even call in to the show, is a pretty relevant post. Re: Printed Alma Mater - 18 years ago
Asking someone around you that looks like they know what they're doing is still likely to produce a response of "See ya, asshole. You lose.'" Jeez. It sounds so stupid everytime I think about it. Why would we say you lose!? Seeing the cheers written out can be helpful, especially with lose/goon distinctions and the like, but I'd say the best way to learn the cheers is to ask soby Josh 03 - Hockey

Re: places to eat after the game - 18 years ago
The Downs family is great! Had a chance to party with some of them, running into them at a Providence bar the night before the 2003 regional finals. Can't wait to try the BBQ next time I'm in Ithaca. It's about time Ithaca had a go-to place to watch televised away games.by Josh 03 - Hockey

Re: DC's Frozen Four bid - 19 years ago
Can't imagine there's a huge following here. At our Clarkson Cornell TV game, there were about 15 Golden Knight Fans. Ran into a couple of random Maine and Harvard hockey fans waiting for the Cornell OSU game to start. And after that game, to my great delight (and very randomly) I happened to be at a party at the bar that was hosting the "official BC vs. NoDak watch party. A decent showiby Josh 03 - Hockey

Re: Testing Altitude Alternate - 19 years ago
My sports bar just called me. He said that DII basketball is on, but he said it's listed as Regional Sports Network. Do we figure that's just a description that it is a regional sports network, not the an actual network called Regional Sports Network?by Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: Testing Altitude Alternate - 19 years ago
I just spoke with Charlotte from Altitude. Metro State isn't playing. They lost. But ALTITUDE ALTERNATE IS STILL COVERING D-II Basketball today!!!! There are 2 games starting 7 EST. So there should be 5 hours of Altitude Alternate coverage (from about 7PM - 12 PM Eastern tonight). Relief! Testing Altitude Alternate - 19 years ago
Thought this was very important and the other TV thread already runneth over. The Metro State vs. Virginia Union game already happened. It was yesterday and Metro State lost. Altitude Alternate was covering the DII bball because Metro State is a Denver team. Did anyone (Delta, Hillel) see that the game was supposed to be broadcast tonight as a repeat? Because this game is old news. Ifby Josh 03 - Hockey

DeltaOne81 Wrote: Right, the only actual concern is that those of us who were planning on gathering at local watering holes, they won't get the Altitude channels (regular or alternate) without specifically paying for those channels. Re: Whats going on.....TV??? - 19 years ago
Hillel, I read your post in response to the No Game at Ship of Fools thread. I have a question for you or anyone else. Can you explain the part of the Cornell release that says the game will be available residentially but not at bars for gatherings? Does that mean that the Altitude Alternate game could be available in viewing areas for residential subscribers, but blocked for sports bars.by Josh 03 - Hockey
Re: Whats going on.....TV??? - 19 years ago
ESPN U is showing the Midwest Region Final. As I understand it, that takes precedence. They have the rights to the tourney. But if there not covering a game live, someone else may pick it up. So, since ESPN U is carrying the Midwest Final game, Altitude can't cover it. They have to cover something else (the Cornell OSU game). Does what I'm saying make sense and does it sound right to anby Josh 03 - Hockey

Looks like we're on live! I'm confirming whether our bar has Altitude Sports Network, but I'm quite sure they do. I know they have ESPN U. Re: Ticket question (no woofing intended) - 19 years ago
Like I said, in 2003, at least I had no problem finding tickets at face value, which was $150. I don't know anyone that paid more than that. Also, from my experience in Buffalo... If you can find someone willing to sell you a ticket just from Semi 1, chances are you can find tickets to Semi 2 and the Final for $5-$10 from people looking to skip town after their team loses.by Josh 03 - Hockey

I like Adam Wodon's idea of having a Lake Placid holiday tournament... "It's unlikely the ECAC tournament is going back to Lake Placid any time soon. But figure out a way to do something up there every year — maybe an ECAC Holiday Festival." Though not only with ECAC teams. If they did only, it certainly wouldn't be beneficial for Cornell or other top ECAC teams to play there.by Josh 03 - Hockey

Re: OSU vs. Cornell Stats & Facts - 19 years ago
We have the only bracket that houses a representative from each of the major conferences. I think it would be good to make Ref assignments that avoid having a Ref call a game of a team in his conference where possible. Take the best Refs, but then try to assign them in this way. Anyone know how they do assign the refs? In our region, with all 4 teams represented, they could have say a Hockeyby Josh 03 - Hockey

Re: Whats going on.....TV??? - 19 years ago
There are plenty of answers. The answer is maybe, but we don't know yet. It will be tape delayed on ESPN U at 12:30 am Sunday morning (Saturday night). There may be regional coverage (available in Ithaca markets and hopefully on DirecTV through a regional station). That's my understanding. We'll know more on Tuesday or Wednesday.by Josh 03 - Hockey
