You know, there was a time when schadenfreude was considered a personality flaw rather than something to wallow in. I liked it better that way.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 Wisconsin 0 (3rd period) - 18 years ago
I just saw some highlites from the Maine-MSU game and it seems some of the players were hitting the puck into the other team's net. They seemed really excited afterwards, but that's got to be a penalty, right?by schoaff - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0 Wisconsin 0 (3rd period) - 18 years ago
action jacksonAnybody else think that was a huge flop? I mean...the guy was twice the size of Topher. It must been one strong pull for him to go down. Topher's Kung Fu is stronger than hisby schoaff - Hockey

If any one of the usual suspects posts a game report with the usual "McKee looked shakey" comment, I'll personally bludgeon him to death with an olive loaf.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: POST GAME CORNELL 3-2 COLORADO COLLEGE - 18 years ago
Jordan 04 Enjoy what we just witnessed, savor the victory for 20 hours, and hit the rink (and bars) again tomorrow and hope for a similar result. Excellent point. It's easy to get spoiled by the success of the last few years and the current students and younger alumns may not realize just how rare teams like these are. Last years senior class and this years senior class each won 4 NCAA tourby schoaff - Hockey

cth95Congratulations to our band and fans. You may have been few, but you were loud enough for my friends and I to cheer along- Hey Bâby in the 1st, rounds of Davy, Sieve, it's all your fault cheers, cowbell, Alma Mater, Gary Glitter in the middle of the 3rd (commercial and announcers so couldn't hear at beginning of the 3rd). Keep up the good work. You will have to all be at the top oby schoaff - Hockey

Looks like Schafer yelled the right stuff. At least one more game for the the players from our last final four and Cornell 3 - Harvard 2.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: NCAA First Round 3/24 - 18 years ago
profudgeBC scored on PP and had a couple of odd / lucky bounces go their way last 2 goals were ENG's so average of play was a lot closer than score would indicate + Cory S. had a very good game To follow up on the ENG's, Miami pulled their goalie with about 6 minutes left in the game when they were down 3-0. Can't say they didn't go for it.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: NCAA First Round 3/24 - 18 years ago
Just finished watching the whole MN-HC game. MN was so much more talented but it was like watching the Brazilian soccer team. They seemed to care more about scoring a beautiful goal than scoring enough goals to win. There were times when HC was on the power play and MN would be controlling the puck in the HC zone setting up one scoring opportunity after another even though they were a man down.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament on tv - 18 years ago
RichH Sure enough, my on-air guide is showing gobs of tournament hockey this weekend on CN8 (New England). Both Northeast semis on Friday, then a nice 4-game spread for Saturday: both East semis and the NE and West Finals, and then for Sunday, the East and Midwest Finals. Good job by them. The timing of it all unfortunately misses the first game I really care about, but I can't complain. I juby schoaff - Hockey
Re: ECACHL Officials - 18 years ago
RatushnyFanIf Schafer got into a shouting match, even if he was the aggressor, I still think that the officials AND bureaucrats shouldn't let it drag on and on. At some point, they should walk away. And if Schafer is out of line, give him a penalty. Can't they give him an abuse of official penalty between periods? If what was detailed in the USCHO message board really happened, it's ridiculouby schoaff - Hockey
Re: ECACHL Officials - 18 years ago
calgARI '07If it is true that Schafer got into a shouting match with an official between periods of the game, I'd be really disappointed. Well, so would I, but this wasn't an official, it was a bureaucrat. They're always fair game to yell at.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: Time Warner for Semifinal? - 18 years ago
Jordan 04And I couldn't care less about HD. No way I'm paying those kind of monthly prices, nevermind the cost for a HD tv. ...said me and everyone else before getting it Yep, same here. First game I ever saw in HD was Cornell beating OSU for the Everblades title a couple years ago. Damn does it look good.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: CC vs CU on TV short and sweet - 18 years ago
I just checked the Dish Network listings and they have it on both Fox North (436) and Altitude (410) at 17:30 EST. Altitude will also be showing Harvard/Maine.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: Pepsi Arena - barely occupied for ECACs? - 18 years ago
billhowardRatushnyFanbillhowardRatushnyFanI vote for Boston........had a blast watching both tourneys (ECAC and Hockey East) back in the Gahden in the early '90's (don't know if this would be feasible anymore given stronger ticket demand from the Hockey East). Consider the travel distances for the teams: - Harvard. The SOBs gets to sleep in their own beds. - Dartmouth. They'd be happy. - Cornby schoaff - Hockey
Re: Time Warner for Semifinal? - 18 years ago
krose (FWIW, I suspect Dish Network has a similar advantage over cable, so most of this probably applies there as well.) Kyle Yep, I just got Dish because they have a slightly better package for Gainesville than Direct TV. They finished installing it between the first and second periods of the Dartmouth/Harvard game. I told them they should have taken their time and saved me from having to wby schoaff - Hockey
ECACHL Officials - 18 years ago
I'm surprised I haven't seen this mentioned over here, but that could be because it's a fabrication. Over on USCHO there's a thread stating that Butch Bellemore (Supervisor of Officials) and Brewster Earle his assistant both resigned after the first period of the Cornell/Harvard game. The story is that Schafer and Bellemore got in to a shouting match between periods (presumedly over the officiby schoaff - Hockey

I seem to remember the details on how to donate to the pep band were posted last year and contrary to drawing any ire were quite welcome.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard ECAC title post-game thread - 18 years ago
ebilmes Something needs to be shaken up on the PP. We have so little creativity; it seems like everyone's just trying to get it to Moulson or OB on the point. Let's not forget, however, that the exact same power play strategy led the nation last year and played a big part in beating Harvard for the last championship. The difference between a great PP team and an awful one is about 1 goal evby schoaff - Hockey
Re: NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Bracket Selection Show - 18 years ago
Section A BansheeTrustnduztI guess we need to prove him wrong...but the only way we CAN win is for McKee to have a phenominal game and to actually score a goal on the power play for once. That really disappointed me last night. McKee actually scoring a goal on the power play would be pretty awesome. Brilliant! I needed a laugh today. Thanksby schoaff - Hockey

Re: Consolation Games - 18 years ago
Well, since Dartmouth and Colgate were tied for the Cleary Cup, I guess they just proved who the best team in the ECAC isby schoaff - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Colgate Post Game Thread - 18 years ago
Rich S Following the logic usually espoused here, Byrne must be a "goon." After all, he took a major penalty and got tossed last week for a hit on Dodge. Any opposing player who gets a major for a similar infraction is a "goon", so...? Nope. All Cornell players are saints who never commit a penalty but are sometimes oppressed by referees who may be devious and unethical bby schoaff - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Colgate Post Game Thread - 18 years ago
Just a little Trivia to throw out. Cornell has shutout its last 4 ECAC Semifinal opponents. The last goal it allowed in the semis was over 241 minutes of hockey ago in the third period of the 2001 game against Harvard.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: Colgate semi-final Game thread - 18 years ago
MolgestronCU at Stanford5+ minutes left in the game. I really worry about our low goal production, vs. a red-hot Sucks team that scored 10 goals today. During the intermission, Wodon made it sound like the high score was a case of Devine and Dartmouth just not showing up tonight, not necessarily Harvard becoming amazing. But yeah, 10 goals is scary no matter what excuses you can creatby schoaff - Hockey

Al DeFlorioTub(a)[ * ECAC Consolation game: Dartmouth defeats Colgate. This is not an unthinkable scenario either. After watching this afternoon's game, I wouldn't bet the farm on Dartmouth. Well, they should be well rested after taking a 3 hour nap this afternoon.by schoaff - Hockey
Re: 2006 Pairwise Comparisons Projections: the Final Stretch! - 18 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82Bottom line: Win and we finish 4, 5, or 6 and stay east (jy3's slate is the only way we get a 1 seed). Lose and we drop to 8 and go to Green Bay. Even worse, Sucks can finish as high as 2 by beating us. We can't let that happen. If for no other reason than to avoid a year of EZAC comments after Sucks loses to Holy Cross.by schoaff - Hockey

Rich Sperhaps you'll get lucky again and have a Clarkson fan sitting in front of you. lol. Worked for me in 2003. (They should have collected the piece of ice that blocked the empty net and put it in a museum. Or at least given it a Viking funeral so it didn't have to face the ignomy of a zamboni).by schoaff - Hockey
