I thought "You skate like a Pep Band" was laugh out loud funny for Brown. Pass/Fail wasn't bad either ------------------------------- Goalie... Sieve... Cookie! Post Edited (03-18-03 15:24)by schoaff - Hockey
Re: ticket report - 21 years ago
i was told that the upper level seating (208-210) was for students. most of the line in front of us at 9AM was constituted of alumni/townies who were sold the bottom corresponding sections, 107 etc, right under us. That's too bad, especially since there are lots of us ancient types who'd prefer to sit in the upper deck. The best seat I ever had to a sporting event was an upper deck seat at thby schoaff - Hockey
Re: Polls 3/17 - 21 years ago
Author: Bill Fenwick (---.oracorp.com) Date: 03-18-03 11:23 It can never be said enough... Polls don't matter! Polls don't matter! Polls don't matter! Polls don't matter! Sure they do. The actual hockey games only last about 6 hours a week. That leaves 162 hours every week with nothing to do except argue about the polls. Not important... bah! ----------------------------- Goalie... A total of 14 goals allowed in 15 home games. Not a bad defense.by schoaff - Hockey

When do we get to smuggle in bricks from the Boston Garden? Or we could just cheer something to protest the Hockey East divorce. Maybe something like "Screw BU."by schoaff - Hockey

Well, I admit I'm a bit of a contrarian in this. I find more satisfaction in winning the regular season title which is based on your ability to perform at the highest level over the course of the entire season. Cornell has proved in the past when they won the tourney as a #8 seed that anyone can have a couple good nights and get lucky. In my mind rating the tournament over the regular season is tby schoaff - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 at Yale 0 FINAL - 21 years ago
I remember back when I was a student reading Dryden's records in the hockey program and thinking how it seemed almost absurd that someone could have a GAA of 1.46 over the course of a season. That was 40 goals in 27 games. It seemed hard to imagine. At this point Lenny's allowed 29 goals in 25 games. Wow.by schoaff - Hockey

Re: key 'cheer' - 21 years ago
Well the '87 game was at Penn. You might be thinking of the '88 "Ivy League Championship" game. I have to admit I'd gone down to the sidelines getting ready to tear down the goalpost so people may very well have been shaking keys then. I really don't remember it at the Harvard series, but who knows. Of course if you're right about the '90 QF that also predates the Brown game that everyby schoaff - Hockey

I'm with BigRed Apple on this one Beej, I don't remember hearing it at all my undergraduate years from 86-90, although I admit I didn't have season tickets my freshman year. I complete believe that it was used before that as it is a pretty obvious thing to do, but as far as I remember it was never done during those years. The first time I heard it was during the quarterfinal playoff series in '9by schoaff - Hockey
Re: Passing Maine - 21 years ago
Well, the good news is if they run the table from here on out they not only could get a #1 East seed for the NCAAs but would have a legitimate shot at setting a single season school record for wins. Am I doing the math right in that a quarter final NCAA win would be #30?by schoaff - Hockey

Section 118 here. Of course I've seen Cornell 3 times this year, and they lost all 3 games. So if anyone wants to bribe me to stay home... Peter Schoaff '90by schoaff - Hockey

New Hampshire also tied Northeastern 1-1 tonight. I figured they were a team poised to make a move in the polls. Any word on NDU/Denver?by schoaff - Hockey

Re: Cornell 4 Harvard 3, Final - 21 years ago
In the big picture, it's probably a good thing to have a tough game like this to learn from. The Colgate and Brown games didn't result in two points, but Cornell still seemed to dominate the games. This one should be useful preparing for the tournament and NCAAs.by schoaff - Hockey

Boy that game reminded me of the last OSU game and to some extend the Maine game. In both of those games Cornell completely dominated faceoffs, controlled center ice, peppered the net with shots, and lost. Hard to complain about any of it. Some days the puck just doesn't go in. What are you going to do? As for the overtime goal, I know the wonderful insightful webfeed announcers thought the issby schoaff - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson 3-0 FINAL - 21 years ago
Actually the photo is pretty conclusive. Unfortunately the conclusion is that the puck is somewhere between the back of the net and the lens of the camera. The only games I've seen this year are the two in Florida, but based on those I'd say we deserved a bounce or two going our way this year. - Peter Schoaff '90by schoaff - Hockey
