Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 2020-21 Schedule - 3 years ago
Despite the uncertainty of all NCAA sports, should there be a hockey season 2020-2021, has a complete schedule of CU opponents be announced at this point other than North Dakota and Yale at MSG, I'm anxious to hear the remaining non conferenced opponents assuming the Iyy's stick with the 29 game limit.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Fortress Invitational - 4 years ago
It always seems like we end up behind the 8 ball with scheduling whether it be early season or after break. A few examples. CU is the only team in the Vegas tourney to have not played a game since the break. Along with that. we have played the fewest games to date in the entire country at 11 and the fewest home games at 4. It's understandable to want to play two exhibition games prior to thby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2019-20 Schedule - 4 years ago
Here's hoping a final schedule is forthcoming soon. Strange nothing is firm regarding Ice Vegas 2020. There seems to be issues. First the Golden Knights have a home game scheduled for 4:00PM Saturday Jan 4th. The Army hockey site states games are Jan 3rd and 4th. Unless the games are played at a venue other than T Mobile arena it doesn't seem possible. Secondly, unless Ohio State has a revised scby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2019-20 Schedule - 5 years ago
Not sure the team would do both an ASU trip along with Las Vegas in the same year. So it wouldn't surprise me if the ASU games were deferred for a year. That along with the fact that I don't see MSU not being reciprocated and thus Northern Michigan is a must to have at least two non conference games (not counting exhibitions} at Lynah. Too much lost ticket revenue. The flaw I see is the extendby wakester2468 - Hockey

Is there something in the works regarding a Las Vegas tournament next year?by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 11/3/2017: Cornell @ Quinnipiac - 6 years ago
Horrible streaming as previously noted. I was worried it was on my end but apparently not. I understand the audio on WHCU was quite bad too. It's 2017. One would think issues like this wouldn't happen and at best easily fixed when they do occur. Missing the last minute really sucked.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Individual game tickets - 6 years ago
Does anyone know why individual game tickets are not being sold at this time except for exhibition games this weekend? Is there an announced date for sales or are they going to sell them a few days prior to each game. Rather lousy policy if one is trying to plan in advance for a trip to Ithaca.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Disappointing but predictable. Canisius was only team available over Christmas break. Niagara on tuesday before Thanksgiving. On the plus side, 15 home games albeit 5 with no students on campus and a game after break before returning to ECAC schedule. I wonder if there is a reciprocal arrangement for next year with these two schools along with Alabama Huntsville.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
That sounds like a potentially good idea. Bentley is actually close for me too residing in southern NH. Cornell always draws well in Boston area making it that much more logical. So now BC and Bentley are my top two choices.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Four potential opponent left in order of my personal preference. 1. BC. Home and home series would be great for many reasons. 2. Sacred Heart. They play a Webster Arena in Bridgeport which is used to host NCAA regional sometimes. 3 Canisius Buffalo area potentially good for recruiting in Ontario. 4. Bentley. No good reason to play them. Home rink capacity 1200. These are the remaining teamsby wakester2468 - Hockey

Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
At least now we know according to official post announcing Red Hot Hockey that the final schedule will be announced next week. Latest prediction for the final two game is Mercyhurst.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Starting to think that Colgate games will be played on Tuesdays which will open up the weekend of Jan 19 and 20th where it might be easier to schedule games outside of conference. Creates an extremely long break from 12/2 to 1 /5 though.by wakester2468 - Hockey

North Dakota out. Schedule just released. Almost makes certain that Florida is toast.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Notre Dame out. Their schedule released yesterday. Down to Atlantic Hockey North Dakota or BC. Another deduction could be that there aren't enough teams to fill a tournament (Florida) at this point. Don't recall Atlantic hockey teams involved in the past.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Wisconsin, even though they have the dates open, according to their hockey website, they have already scheduled the maximum number of games permissible. Would be a great opponent though. Still hoping for Notre Dame, North Dakota or BC.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
You are correct but to the other more important portion of my post, do you have any additional info regarding scheduling. I still can't see Florida happening, They have a performance scheduled for the 28th which would make the arena unavailable for practice that day if games are the 29th and 30th. Pretty sure they wouldn't play the 30th and New Years Eve. Patiently waiting for official releasby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
On a hot Sunday afternoon with the AC running full guns, while watching golf for nine hours I decided to do a little cross referencing while waiting for the official Big Red schedule to be announced. Through process of elimination I've narrowed down potential opponents after Christmas assuming they actually play that week whether it's in Florida or elsewhere. Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Glad that is confirmed and certainly raises the strength of schedule considerably. I'm researching every other teams schedule that has been announced and still can't figure out what the games will be over the holidays if Florida is history. Ledyard classic in Hanover is full. Catamount tourney seems unlikely so it's looking more and more like it could be teams like Niagara or RIT. That does not tby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
If upprdeck's information is correct about the Florida tournament, it's interesting to speculate how the last two games now open will be filled. Now that UAH is confirmed at Lynah, we are on the road at Miami and the annual Thanksgiving weekend game most likely against BU occurs, who will be scheduled as the first two games after the break. I have heard that Mike has a good relationship with Bobby wakester2468 - Hockey

Do you have the definitive word on the elimination of the Florida College Hockey Classic? It sounds in your post that it's done.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Hopefully, remaining two games in Florida or elsewhere will be an upgrade. Strength of schedule takes a hit with UAB and hoping here Miami has a good season.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 6 years ago
Does anyone have any information regarding the official 2017-2018 schedule? If it hasn't been released yet, curious when to expect the announcement. Will be interesting to see who we add for out of conference opponents to go along with traveling to Miami. Also still wondering if the Florida trip will continue.by wakester2468 - Hockey

Crickets regarding regionals Maybe at the convention on the 26th. Very late and still think they will do home sites for first round next year.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Still haven't seen any sites announced for 2018 NCAA regionals. Unless I missed something, one certainly could deduce that home sites of top 8 seeds might be used which frankly I support. Anyone have any new or additional information?by wakester2468 - Hockey
2018 schedule and tourney. - 7 years ago
I am anxiously awaiting the 2017-2018 schedule, but in the getting ahead of myself department, for the past few days I have been searching to find the location of the regionals for next year. I know the NCAA has been pondering the possibility of returning the first round back to home ice sites, I don't recall reading a definitive decision on that proposal. Personally, I would very much like toby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 7 years ago
Although disappointed with Saturdays outcome, I prefer to think of this season as a success with my preseason hopes of making it to Lake Placid met and exceeded. While 2017 - 2018 season is 7 months away, I hope posts continue through the spring and summer months. Sometimes the anticipation of what's to come is as enjoyable as it is during the season I especially am looking forward to the offiby wakester2468 - Hockey

Ben Syers - 7 years ago
With five D1 schools looking for new hockey coaches and probably more to come, one would think that Associate Head Coach Ben Syers would be on a short list for some of the schools. His experience at Q and at Cornell certainly has prepared him for the opportunity. It would be a loss for Cornell but Ben has coached under two top coaches although that is tough for me to say since Pecknold is such aby wakester2468 - Hockey
