Re: NCAA Ticket Info - 7 years ago
Couldn't agree more. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me if the NCAA is responsible for this. A full lower level with cameras focused on it creates a much better image. Look how they screwed Harvard. Nothing about them should ever be unexpected.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Ticket Info - 7 years ago
You are right. It would be just about 5000. The ticket office did tell me that they would open the upper seating in case the lower was sold old . That being said, Minnesota and Notre Dame will most likely return a lot of tickets. I just don't like the fact that fans get the short end of it here. The upper lever seats are not bad seats at all and preferable to some. Forcing fans to sit in the endby wakester2468 - Hockey
NCAA Ticket Info - 7 years ago
FYI. Here is a little information that some might find helpful and disappointing. Being a lifelong resident of Manchester and knowing the arena well.(It's no longer Verizon Wireless Arena,it's now SNHU Arena.} after just coming back from the ticket office, this is what I have found. First, they are not even selling the upper bowl which is half of the seats. Obviously says something about the loby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
Tickets for Manchester can be obtained directly on ticketmaster, not a scalping site. Not to be confused, it is no longer Verizon Wireless Arena. It is now SNHU Arena. As of this morning there were great tickets some even center ice. Without UNH in the tourney, the host school I can't imagine that the place will be full although Manchester historically is a good hockey townby wakester2468 - Hockey
NCAA tourney - 7 years ago
Not to get too far ahead of things, but here is hoping that Cornell gets placed in Manchester, my home town, as projected by Adam and Jason. CU fans will really like the facility. Modern and all good seats. Matt Moulson is a bit of a legend in AHL history here in his days proceeding his college years. Many good bars and pubs within walking distance of Arena. Not to be confused, until this yearby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
Pairwise ranking being so volatile, it seems every game in all leagues except the WCHA and perhaps Atlantic Hockey has a potential impact on the Big Red. So for starters, rooting for Michigan and Michigan State today seems to makes sense. Thaat is unless one of the two makes an improbable run and steal the Big Ten automatic bid in which case not such a good thing.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
So here we are again in the undesirable position of cheering for Harvard on Friday night but different than other times, we will have to do it in person. The only saving grace is it's Quinnipiac who ranks right up there with teams to root against. The last thing we want to see is Q to get the automatic qualifier for the ECAC making it a little merky for the Big Red should they lose to Union.by wakester2468 - Hockey

Re: Clarkson @ Cornell 03/10-3/12?/17 - 7 years ago
My seat was low in sec L and looking directly across the rink in sec D and E, I was stunned that those sections were basically empty. So i moved across the rink for the final two periods for a much better view. Usher told me to sit where i wanted. At a big Cornell game, WHAT! Drove 350 miles for the excitement of an ECAC quarter final game at Lynah and not only did Cornell play horribly, the poby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 7 years ago
Actually that's not the worst idea you have had. In conjunction with UNH which is 40 minutes away and with the fact that there seems to be a good relationship between Dick Umile and Cornell already, there is some validity to that concept. There is a Cornell Club of NH in town and we already know how Cornell takes over Lynah East annually. The two could host jointly like Maine for awhile did in Flby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 7 years ago
Not sure how you interpret my post as complaining. This is just a thought for an alternative to the Florida games should they not continue. My suggestion is only in response to other posts that discuss the fact that the event might not continue. If I were a Florida CU alum like yourself, I would be echoing the same thoughts as you. I am a loyal alum myself of over 40 years from New Hampshire.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 7 years ago
So rather than just speculate that it wouldn't work, why not put out feelers to a handful of teams to determine the viability of such an idea. Not knowing the financial arrangement Cornell has had yearly for the Florida trip, it's difficult to compare the monetary ramifications. Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 7 years ago
So according to Merriam Webster, much to my dismay, you are correct. Several is more than a few but less than many. However, showing my age, I was at the Christmas tournament in the late 70's. I would be curious to see the breakdown of the student to non student at games the past few years. I'm not implying that the place would be sold out by any means. However, with reduced pricing for senioby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 7 years ago
I would strongly suggest if the Florida tourney is eliminated that CU attempt to host a tourney of their own at Lynah. An argument against might be a potential lack of attendance while students are away for the holidays. A reduced price for these games would potentially offset it buy appealing to more locals especially kids who might get the chance to attend. Re: 2017-18 Schedule - 7 years ago
In the getting way ahead of myself department, wondering if there is any update for the 2017-2018 schedule. The ECAC schedule which generally flips from the previous year I imagine is pretty much all set. Just speculation, I suspect the Florida tournament will not continue. This increases the out of conference schedule to seven games hopefully within travel distance. I would think we are obliby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: First round of ECAC playoffs - 7 years ago
It would be best for CU that all higher seeds win this upcoming weekend to prevent a Pairwise problem with an automatic bid in which case the only problem would be either Q or StL . Like Drew, would much rather it be StL winning that series for two reason. First Q seems to be finding it's stride better as of late and 2nd, Pecknold is an arrogant douche.by wakester2468 - Hockey

Re: RPI @ Cornell 2/24/17 - 7 years ago
Why is it that most other internet video offering from other schools show replays? We pay for this sub par product so it's the least they could do. Never mind the fact that most non Ivy School offer the games for free but that takes me back to posts month ago. Not sure the fee is solely a Cornell issue. It apparently is an Ivy League driven decision to require the schools be a part of the ILDN.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Looking Ahead - 7 years ago
I have posted rather erroneous posts here on occasions but this last one might be the worst. You are right about not finishing any place but 3rd and the face Harvard plays St Lawrence tonight. The point I was trying to make although with bogus facts is that it is preferable in my opinion to have Harvard finish ahead of Harvard thus requiring us to defeat Union tonight. Let's try this again. Itby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: RPI @ Cornell 2/24/17 - 7 years ago
The fact that ECAC teams are 1st 4th and 5th in winning percentage is a double edged sword. While on the surface it sure looks to be a positive, from a negative, the reason for the high % rankings causes the league as a whole to be weakened which affects Pairwise. This certainly is apparent in the current rankings. The bottom teams are very weak and bring down the top teams. There really are onby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Looking Ahead - 7 years ago
Every game seems to be more important than the previous one. While an initial goal of getting a first round bye has been achieved, Pairwise rankings sure doesn't allow for a let down in any game. The Union game, although not affecting Cornell's final positioning in ECAC standings is of vital importance. A win most likely will give us a good chance of an at large bid in the NCAA's if we don't getby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Bracketology 2016-17 Style - 7 years ago
For weeks and for that matter years, Jason Moy in calculating Bracketology and the 16 teams to qualify for the NCAA"s, finds it necessary to give an automatic bid to the team that is currently in 1st place in their conference. Does this assume that they will win their conference playoffs and get an automatic bid? This the case with BC yet not the same with Canisius albeit they have one fby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Rankings - 7 years ago
A few observations after the Clarkson game tie. Unless significant upsets occur the last weekend, we are destined to finish 3rd. Harvard would have to lose twice at home, Union would have to lose twice while we sweep. Not sure I see Colgate beating Union. The other likely thing to happen is that Clarkson will finish 6th with St Lawrence and Quin finishing 4th and 5th with the possibility of thatby wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Rankings - 7 years ago
You are correct. There still exists the chance with three CU losses and three Q wins that they end up with 13 win to our 12. That does appear to be the only combination where we lose a first round bye. Good catch.by wakester2468 - Hockey
Re: Rankings - 7 years ago
By my calculations, which admittedly have not always been perfect, Cornell has already clinched a first round bye. In the worst case scenario, there could either be a three way tie for 3rd, a 3 way tie for 4th, a 2 way tie for 3rd or a 2 way tie for 4th. In all instances, Cornell has the tie breaker beating STL twice and splitting with Q. If it gets to the next tie breaking criteria which theby wakester2468 - Hockey
