Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Frozen Apple 2018: Fish & Fowl Edition - 6 years ago
The Cornell ticket office is scalping. They seem to have jacked the tickets up at least 10% over face. I'm lucky, I can walk to MSG and buy at the box office and avoid all fees. Disappointing, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.by arugula - Hockey

FWIW, looks like tickets have barely been released either on ticketmaster or at MSG box office, which I’m leaving now. Very little available either in the presale or regular sale. Are the schools holding back for now ?by arugula - Hockey

ugarte getting bent out of shape about "we" is a psychological disorder Don’t think I was bent out of shape but I think it’s more of a mental disorder. Psychological is too fancy. But seriously, I thought it was a fair comment about something that was undermining an otherwise good broadcast. In any event, setting aside the “we” business, I don’t think Hockey Night in Canada will bby arugula - Hockey

scoop85 Trotsky upprdeck since when are Home announcers not allowed to be Homers? and Rizzuto was as over the top Homer as it gets. Some schools its all about the WE, listen to a ND radio broadcast. the show is being broadcast for the "WE" fans not the avg person so why shouldn't it cater to that? Listen to SU broadcasts. Last night his role was to be a radio guy. Using we immediately undermines your credibility analyzing the game. Listening on radio puts you in complete reliance on the announcers. If you can’t trust the descriptions why bother listening? I don’t expect complete objectivity but at least a good faith attempt. If they can’t do that, I’d rather hear a student broadcast, because such transparent biby arugula - Hockey

I was there during the Nieuwendyk years so Tim Vanini’s stats don’t particularly impress and aren’t particularly relevant. In any event, I just prefer a less obvious homer for listening. Jason’s a bit of a homer and that’s to be expected from any home town announcer but “we” is a bit much. Phil Rizzuto didn’t even say “we” after 55 years with the Yankees. Small point but I hadn’t noticed beforeby arugula - Hockey

Re: Clarkson @ Cornell 03/10-3/12?/17 - 7 years ago
True. Funny though that the .898 sp that made Dadswell a life saver then, would have him playing in DIII now. Just a completely different game. My senior year, Nieuwendyk averaged two points a game. Crazy.by arugula - Hockey

Trotsky DafatoneThen again, I haven't seen a single Cornell season without a good goalie (freshman scrivens / Davenport would probably be the low point), so it's hard to compare. The Edmands/Fawcett years were indeed a sight to behold. Edmands/Fawcett. I started throwing up at the mention. Different world then. As great as Dadswell was, he routinely allowed 3-4 goals. Of course Edmands/Fawceby arugula - Hockey

I'm a Ranger season ticket holder, so I have seen plenty of late arriving/non arriving crowds at MSG and I must say that was as empty as I have ever seen MSG (been going since the mid 70s). There were entire sections of seats which were empty until people started to spread out a bit. The blue seats were completely empty the entire game. I bought two at the blue line 15 rows up on the day of the gby arugula - Hockey

The NHL schedule was just released and the Rangers are listed as playing at MSG on 11/29 at 7:00 pm. Assume that will be moved to the afternoon.by arugula - Hockey

It would make more sense as the Leneveu award or the Terreri award if we need a Richter era name if we're talking strictly college performance, but it actually has other components-scholastic, community, etc.by arugula - Hockey

Bahnstorm Beeeej Very sorry to hear about your friend's untimely passing. I thought you might enjoy knowing that not only did "Section D Tonight" continue after you graduated, but it's still remembered. You may not have seen these posts when I made them a few years ago, but: Anyone willing to have copies of Section D Tonight preserved in the University Archives, I'll gladly addby arugula - Hockey

After much digging, I found our original template to the original Section D Tonight from Fall 1986--the Army, Princeton, and Harvard games. Will post them later todayby arugula - Hockey

Bahnstorm-I need to check our storage--which may or may not have been flooded by Sandy, the landlord won't say. I my have a 1986-87 Section D Tonite, probably the one attacking Laing Kennedy. If I recall, Frans had them so I may wait and ask his wife at the appropriate time. Another memory of the Denver NCAA trip in 86: the night before game 1, we watched Letterman, then hopped in a car aby arugula - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Yale @ MSG - 10 years ago
Thanks for that Beej. I didn't know they swapped sides. Looking at those copies, I feel like I need to dig out our copies. We were a bit more ribald, shall we say, as the idea was actually inspired by a rag called Blue Seats Tonite from the old Blue Seats at MSG (also a Ranger season ticket holder). The new Kingsbridge project in the Bronx (Messier's baby) will bring college hockey to NYC on a smaller scale. The facility will include I believe nine rinks including one which will seat 4-5 thousand. Obviously, not right for Cornell, but a good spot for a revived Columbia club program or some of the smaller college programs near the city. The more hockey in NYC the better. Re: Harvard-Yale @ MSG - 10 years ago
from what I could gather, a LOT of tickets were given away. We were surrounded by a number of High School hockey groups from Connecticut. The place was empty at faceoff, then suddenly filled up, which suggests groups coming in at the last minute. Lame crowd, definitely more Yale support, not just saying that because of the wife's affiliation. Seeing Messier and Richter together at the ceremoniby arugula - Hockey

Ben phillysportsfan Greenberg '97 phillysportsfan Why would they change uniforms now in the 2nd round of the tournament? arent most athletes/coaches superstitious? Why would a team switch from man-to-man to zone defense in the 2nd quarter of a tournament game? That just seems... oh, never mind. Huh? That is an in game adjustment.
