Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Lynah now at full capacity - 2 years ago
Attended tonight. First game together at Lynah with my freshman daughter. Big night. We mostly controlled action but typically cannot finish. Question-is there a return to Alaska? The university would not possibly allow that unless it was in January. These trips UA makes are anathema to a so-called education. Actually a bit disappointed we participated in that. They’ve been on the road 4,000 miby arugula - Hockey

Anyone watch Harvard-Brown last night. Ugly.by arugula - Other Sports
Re: Cornell name drop by Alex Killorn - 2 years ago
Yes, hate Killorn. As a life long Rangers fan, very troubled by Fox's success. Seems like a great kid, but then there's that whole Cambridge thing. Otoh, he essentially replaced DeAngelo, so there's THATby arugula - Hockey
Re: 2021-22 Men's Schedule - 2 years ago
No insult here. I would love Newark. The Ironbound is fantastic and the arena's ok and easily accessible. Just stating the fact that our brethren didn't show up.by arugula - Hockey
Re: 2021-22 Men's Schedule - 2 years ago
There won't be a conflict. MSG always keeps the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving open for Cornell hockey. 15 years now. We played Colgate in Newark once. Disastrously low turnout. MSG is a destination. The other places are not.by arugula - Hockey
Re: 2021-22 Men's Schedule - 2 years ago
Yes, that makes sense. Why would you want to play in New York City, at Madison Square Garden, particularly when a recent alum is playing for the Rangers, when you can play at Lynah Rink on a holiday weekend when no students are in town. Sure, good idea....by arugula - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros 2020-2021 - 3 years ago
More on Barron from the Athletic: Speaking of value, in terms of bang for buck, Barron has provided that through the first four NHL games of his career. He promised he would bring the bang, and he has, especially against Washington, where he seemed to be short-credited with three hits and dropped his gloves with T.J. Oshie, who wasn’t interested. His four games have come against big teams, aby arugula - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros 2020-2021 - 3 years ago
He also tried to drop the gloves with Oshie, but Oshie begged off.by arugula - Hockey

On the webinar, didn’ t Schaf mention an ASU trip over New Years?by arugula - Hockey
Re: Class of 2025 - 3 years ago
Thanks, she's still over the moon. Looking forward to Lynah and curious why Morgan Barron hasn't been called up to the Rangers yet!by arugula - Hockey

scoop85 arugula arugula arugula osorojo What was the best Cornell Men's Varsity Ice Hockey game you ever attended? That was my first Harvard game. Good choice. One of the bigger disappointments was this one at Lynah East. Another major disappointment. The win/loss. One more. The battle of Hall of Famers. Too many losses. That was a terrific game with an electric atmosphere, aby arugula - Hockey

Two-fer-1986 ECAC semi-final vs. Yale-2OT and final-OT vs. Clarkson. Boston Garden rocked, subways closed as games went on and on. Dadswell stands on his headby arugula - Hockey

billhoward Don't celebrate until you get a thick aid-package envelope. Given the mature years of many here on the forum, "ED" gives one pause. As to the financial aid package we received, either we're poor, or Cornell is rich.by arugula - Hockey
Re: Class of 2025 - 3 years ago
Thanks for the kind words. Really can't wait to see a game Lynah. Have only seen the team on the road and at MSG since graduation I was wondering about that increase in ED. Makes sense. Handling COVID well is a reflection on handling crises well generally I guess.by arugula - Hockey

PS she already loves Morgan Barron and I have a photo of her from Red Hot Hockey first edition with a red painted face. She's a natural for cow bell.by arugula - Hockey
Class of 2025 - 3 years ago
Folks, I was ready to ask the question of how I can root for the Red if the University rejects my daughter. However, she got the metaphorical thick envelope today and was admitted early to A&S. Back to Lynah for me! Eventually...by arugula - Hockey

How's this for random. At MSG tonight for Rangers-Devils. Spot a guy wearing a yellow with green trim jersey. I get a good look at it and ask the guy "Chicago Cougars?" He says-"you're the only person to identify it." That's major nerd points. Gets better. The jersey is number 14, with no name. I ask him who number 14 was. He doesn't know. I get home and look it up oby arugula - Hockey

BU vs. BC was a spectacular game at the Beanpot. BU looked significantly better than at MSGby arugula - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-01: Cornell 5 Princeton 3 - 4 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 The thing that I wasn't thrilled about was our power play. It seemed like three guys passing it around above the circles, and one guy at each side of the net who never moved. Princeton simply packed four guys around the goalie and blocked any cross-pass that made it to the low guys. The guys at the point never shot and the low guys never did anything to get the defense out of pby arugula - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-01: Cornell 5 Princeton 3 - 4 years ago
The PK was odd. Two of the goals were great shots, the third was egregious puck watching. The PP scored thrice, but still, they pass and pass and pass. Shoot the g-d puck. Also, faceoffs-oy. Any update on Betts? Seriously, is Song a player with any possibility of playing?by arugula - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-01: Cornell at Princeton - 4 years ago
Iceberg Oh, absolutely. Those anemic power plays really set the tone and it should've been more than 2-0. Also, this isn't my first time seeing Bauld live, but he is really fast. If he had the hands he would be a star Also there tonight. Bauld was dynamite but as you say no hands.by arugula - Hockey

Different world indeed. Hs hoops in NYC is often an after school activity. Lucky if you have ten people in the stands. mountainred arugula mountainred I'm a little more bearish on Gray, but he's a D1 talent who should help. My time in Indiana skewed my view of high school gyms, but those looked like really small facilities for a NYC school. Or is that just the way it is in the City? Thatby arugula - Other Sports
