Also, they're back to #1 in the conference in both PP and PK after having behind Dartmouth in PP and SLU in PK. How's this for statistical weirdness: Our conference combined special teams, 17/65 PP + 47/54 PK = 64/119 combined = 53.8% is somehow WORSE than RPI's combined special teams, 12/54 PP + 50/60 PK = 62/114 combined = 54.3% despite the fact that they're 3rd in the conferenceby Josh '99 - Hockey

OK Age, I gotta know, where do you get these icons? The coffee one, in particular, I'd use all the time.by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: TSN - 22 years ago
No, no, I mean in a literary sense! I didn't say it, the stuck-up Harvard guy did!by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: TSN - 22 years ago
It doesn't seem to be a very BAD translation, but the phrase "damn Canadian" just doesn't have the same ring to it as "fucking Canuck".by Josh '99 - Hockey

If anyone can find a way to use "piss" in a cheer, I think that'd be great.by Josh '99 - Hockey
Ridiculously Early Playoff Speculation - 22 years ago
Yeah, I know there's still eight games left to be played (seven for Harvard and Dartmouth), but I feel like looking ahead... If no team's performance over the last eight games is drastically different from their performance thus far, then I'd say it seems likely that our first-round playoff matchup will be against Princeton, SLU, Yale, RPI, Brown, or UVM. Re: recruits - 22 years ago
I think we're missing something very important here, and I'm surprised that nobody picked it up sooner. Namely... His name sounds like a kind of beer! And Canadian beer, no less. That's awesome! Whoa, Jon Gleed lists at 6'1", 165? Somebody get that boy some food or something. Gotta figure Schafer will try to get him to bulk up some... Oh, and from that recruits list, I noticed thatby Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: 2/4/02 Polls - 22 years ago
The first place vote is in the USA Today poll, not the USCHO poll. That poll is not updated yet for this week on USCHO.by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: 2/4/02 Polls - 22 years ago
Well, actually what I meant is that we've never won the title outright.by Josh '99 - Hockey

Olbermann even mentioned the vote on SportsCenter before the details on who voted us #1 were known. Then Cornell lost a few, and (IIRC) didn't win the Ivies. Well, we never have, so it's safe to assume we didn't that year either.by Josh '99 - Hockey

For maximum anti-woofing power, shouldn't you have said "EZAC"?by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: Krzysztof Wieckowski - 22 years ago
Haven't really formulated an opinion on the Most Improved issue, and probably won't until the end of the year, but it's impressive that there are so many worthy candidates. Says a lot about how young our team was last year and how well they've come into their own since.by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: Hornby - 22 years ago
He's also displayed some pretty good puck skills, which are always a bonus to have from a checking forward. The goal he scored against Dartmouth, in particular, struck me as quite impressive, a pretty wrister over Boucher's shoulder, if I recall correctly. (Shame that the outcome wasn't as pretty.)by Josh '99 - Hockey
Pairwise Rankings - 22 years ago
Just checked USCHO... After this evening's games (or most of them, anyway), Cornell is up to 9th in the PWR! Pretty impressive, I have to say. Next highest ECAC team is Harvard at 20th, behind such powerhouses as Mercyhurst. Nice to know that we still have a shot at an at-large, though obviously we all hope we don't need one.by Josh '99 - Hockey

Wow, Sean Burke posted to the hockey forum. Personally, I would've been more swayed if it'd been Kevin Dineen.by Josh '99 - Hockey

WTB: Brown Ticket - 22 years ago
Hey, I know it's last minute, but if anybody has or knows of a ticket to the Brown game that's available, can you let me know? Student section preferable, will pay a reasonable amount above face value if requested.by Josh '99 - Hockey

Oops, sorry, yes, Exit 8. Same exit you'd normally take.by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: [Offtopic] Pats v. Rams - Can the Pats cover the spread, let alone win? - 22 years ago
If I were gambling on it, and could really get 14 1/2 points as I'm reading, I'd take the Pats and the points. I don't believe they can win, honestly, but given how well they handled the Steelers rushing offense, complete with great offensive line, I think they should be able to contain Faulk enough to keep the game close. Definitely the Pats don't want a shootout; that's totally Martz's style,by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: road conditions - 22 years ago
If you were to want to take the shortcut to Ithaca, you'd get off 81 at Exit 7 same as normal, but rather than going to the light where the exit hits 79, you make the first left turn, not sure the street name, onto a residential street. Stay on it for a decent ways, probably 3-5 miles if I had to guess, and that road will end at 79 on the other side of Whitney Point. Did I describe that OK, Tomby Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: road conditions - 22 years ago
If I'm not mistaken, that's the one that takes you, via the same exit, around Whitney Point? Can't remember the name of the streets, though.by Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson Sucks Too - 22 years ago
I don't pretend to understand the mechanics of the RPI and PWR anywhere near as well as other posters to this board, but I'd have to imagine that those two losses in the Everblades Tourney hurt us pretty substantially... Not only because they're two of only five losses on the year up to this point, but also because they're losses to TUCs (as are all of our losses), and were our only games againsby Josh '99 - Hockey
