Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Beanpot/Championship Belt - 20 years ago
Well Brown successfully defended the ECAC belt on Saturday, beating Harvard 2-1 in overtime. The Bears travel to Princeton & Yale next weekend...by Section A - Hockey
Re: Pep Band Should Not Travel - 20 years ago
Thank god for Mike, there were true fans like Avash '05 and Mike Ack who unselfishly helped him out of the snow. These are the guys who deserve seats in the allocated Cornell section at away games. Well....thanks for the compliment (I guess?), but I wasn't the one who helped Mike R. out of the snow, though of course I would have helped if I were there In light of this fact, I suppose I'm oby Section A - Hockey

If I'm not mistaken, former Merrimack goaltender Joe Exter plays in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins organization as well (in the ECHL, possibly?)by Section A - Hockey
Re: ECAC Playoff Possibility Time - 20 years ago
I get the feeling Schafer is looking to a playoff run Sure sounds like it, from the USCHO.com recap of last night's game: Schafer said, "Everybody has injuries, and you have to fight through it. We have to play a certain way, and we have to bide our time until we have a full roster and we can play our style of game."by Section A - Hockey

Re: Cornell alumni in the pros: Jan 2004 - 20 years ago
Well this will probably be the last post for this thread, since January is coming to an end.... Anyway, nothing too exciting to write about, but.....in the AHL last night, Springfield lost its fourth game in its last five. LeNeveu had 22 saves on 24 shots in the 2-1 loss to Worcester. Last weekend, he had 29 saves on 32 shots in a 3-2 loss while Pelletier had 34 saves in a 2-1 win. Doug Murray,by Section A - Hockey

Re: Jan Gets a Game - 20 years ago
Even though Jan started, I don't think he played more then 3 shifts. He was on the ice for the first 15 seconds or so and for the last 20 seconds and possibly a little time in between. Other than that, Schafer rotated 5 defensemen. I'm not sure why Jan didn't really play in the game even though he started. Did anyone else notice the fact that he hardly played?by Section A - Hockey
Going to Colgate - 20 years ago
Could someone give me the best route to get to Hamilton tonight? I'd really appreciate it; thanksby Section A - Hockey
Re: colgate's sieve - 20 years ago
I thought Silverthorn was impressive even last year; he was decent at Lynah, but his performance the night before was really good, 31 saves on 32 shots in that 2-1 OT win....by Section A - Hockey
Re: What is wrong with us this season? - 20 years ago
We've also been unlucky in the sense that we have been running into teams, or individuals, when they've been hot. Here's what I mean....... For the past 4 weekends (plus this upcoming weekend, making it 5 in a row) that we've been involved with ECAC play (so, therefore, not counting the Everblades tournament), we've gone into the weekend having to face the reigning ECAC Player, Goalie and/or Rby Section A - Hockey

You're right. Just ignore him. .......But cue Facetimer to make some stupid remark anyway EDIT: wow, even as I was writing this........ Post Edited (01-28-04 18:50)by Section A - Hockey

No idea, but I remember noticing him with it on this past weekend for a game....by Section A - Hockey

I think I know who Cowboy Hat Guy is. I believe it's our SA president. Yes, the one who was kicked out of a game earlier this year. I'm sure he'd take it off if you asked him Yep, that last sentence sounded weird....by Section A - Hockey
Re: Introducing, The Red Line! - 20 years ago
The meeting did go well. Everyone tell as many people as you can about this, and hopefully they can tell even more. It would be great to get to that goal of 100 and possibly even beyond. And if people who weren't able to make it to the meeting (including non-students/alumni), any suggestions or comments would be welcome either on this thread or via email to any of the addresses Adam provided. Re: visitors - 20 years ago
Most of us welcome contributions from thoughtful fans of other teams, like Ben from Dartmouth, ursaminor from RPI, Rich S from Clarkson, and Mark from BU. When the game is over you've got to realize that we all love this sport, and the things that unite us are greater than the things that divide us. Well said! There was also that JP Morosi kid from Harvard who wrote for the Crimson.by Section A - Hockey
Re: Game thread - Dartmouth 2 Cornell 1 (final) - 20 years ago
Iggulden was on fire!! Absolutely. He's been playing great lately, and his penalty killing is top-notch. Maybe the Everblades gave him a boost of confidence or something because he's been one of the most consistent and impressive players in the last 4 or 5 games.by Section A - Hockey
Re: Yacey's mom has got it going on - 20 years ago
Well he skated over and a little lip-reading was involved, plus the Rink was quiet and stunned at the time of the celebration. Trust me, he said "fuck off". Whatever though, I don't even care anymore. This is almost getting childish. All I care about now is our team getting better this week in practice and playing well in two REALLY important games next weekend. After all, like Schaferby Section A - Hockey
Re: Current PWR - 20 years ago
ouch; 1 loss and we go from #18 to #26 in the PWR, and that's without the "west" scores factored in yet. ...then again, I think it might be about time to forget about the PWR. Post Edited (01-24-04 22:51)by Section A - Hockey

603-646-XXXX (Ben F. is actually completely right in his later post, so I've removed the actual number out of sportsmanship and because at this point, it's just unnecessarily spiteful. I just want to mention real quick that Jessiman yelled "Fuck off" over at sections A and B twice after the game ended. Now THAT was completely unnecessary. ) Post Edited (01-25-04 00:20)by Section A - Hockey

Current PWR - 20 years ago
After last night's game, we moved up to #16 in the Pairwise Rankings. Several other ECAC teams are "teams under consideration:" #20: Colgate #25: Brown #26: RPI #27: Dartmouth #30: Clarkson ...against whom we have a total of 6 games remaining.by Section A - Hockey
Re: Cornell alumni in the pros: Jan 2004 - 20 years ago
On Wednesday, Springfield got outshot 51-40 and lost 2-0 with Pelletier in net. Tonight, Lenny was back in net for the first time since his fight last week , but Springfield lost 4-2. Lenny had 32 saves. Better news in Chicago though. The Wolves beat the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 and Bâby had the game-winning goal at 15:44 of the third period, breaking a 1-1 tie.by Section A - Hockey
Re: traveling to away games - calling all faithful - 20 years ago
jy3, yeah I got the colgate tickets from the cornell box office yesterday (Thurs.) afternoon at around 3:30, so perhaps they do indeed still have some. I also got RPI/Union tickets, so as of yesterday, they still had those as well. I then walked over to Lynah and noticed that the team was finishing up practice; O'Byrne of all people won their end-of-practice breakaway competition!by Section A - Hockey
