Re: Cornell Feed Screw-up - 21 years ago
Thanks for the long post. You are correct about the AD not being in a position to take any monetary action. It clears the air a bit and hopefully will get this thread moving in a positive direction. If we are going to make any headway with the AD we shouldn't ask for the impossible. My hope is that things will change when whatever contract Cornell has with Real Networks expires. For now we cby marty - Hockey

Shouldn't this be reported to the U of P athletic department?by marty - Hockey

Re: Who's going to Western Michigan? - 21 years ago
Adam, I have been thinking about buying a yuppy-fied AM antenna for $100 to $200 just to beat the $7 per month. It's really too bad that so many stations share 870 kHz. If it weren't for the french Canadian and southern interference it might be worth buying the damn antenna. Martyby marty - Hockey

I agree with you Al, the Cornell magazine is an appropriate recipient.by marty - Hockey
Re: No More HockeyCam - 21 years ago
This, I guess, gets chalked up to the adage concerning catching more flies with honey than vinegar or whatever that old adage is. I'm not one to philosophize and therefore don't have to remember those sayings. That our of the way, I think that the athletic department is being thin skinned and myopic. The 'cam was a one of a kind volunteer effort that should have been and may yet be copied allby marty - Hockey

Note in the article linked that the issue is not completely different. Satire and noncommercial use have been used as criteria to allow use of trademarked items. An email based group called the Stella awards used this topic as the basis of its current posting. For more information see: Note the following sentence: The court held that "Barbie Girl" fell under the noncommerby marty - Hockey

Re: Internet Radio at Risk? - 21 years ago
The amount is much lower than the 0.14 cents per song listed in the links that I posted above. The song writer receives most or all of the money. The new proposals included money for the singers and musicians. I am sorry that I don't remember the exact rates that I read for current broadcast radio and I have been unable to find a link to this info.by marty - Hockey
Re: Internet Radio at Risk? - 21 years ago
The stations which would be subject to the extremely high royalties are those which are Internet ONLY. So VBR and TKO and all of the other traditional broadcasters would actually win if the Internet only stations get hit with the excessively high royalty rate because the competition would be thinned out. TKO for example would have to pay royalties on songs but the Internet only rate is much higby marty - Hockey
Re: Men's Lax on TV! - 22 years ago
Thanks for the post. I enjoyed watching the game and think that the TV angles were better than the old on the field vantage point that I remember back in the '70s.by marty - Hockey

25 was my favorite number as a child. I guess I could get into 25 being larger than 27. Thanks for the post, Art.by marty - Hockey
Re: [Lax] Who's going to Princeton (4/20) - 22 years ago
My son wants to go but he was wait-listed. That's OK he's in at Harvard and Yale. And I wouldn't call him lax....even though his father does brag a bit.by marty - Hockey
Re: USCHO Pre-Game Shows & Town Meeting - 22 years ago
You could try to go into the audio setup in Quicktime before opening the link. That is what I had to do to get the Hockeycam audio working. The direct audio is a problem on some computers but apparently not all. Your symptoms are not the same as those that I was experiencing, but it is worth a try....by marty - Hockey

Re: April Fools! - 22 years ago
There was a tradition of joke issues for Fall Weekend and Spring Weekend as they were once called. This resulted in two joke issues per year and although I don't remember a 4/1 joke issue my memory is fading fast. But the reason that I mention the two issues per year is that during the spring of 1971 I remember reading a really funny issue concerning the university spying on student protesters.by marty - Hockey
Tape trading offer - 22 years ago
I have an extra copy of the CU-UNH game. I am willing to trade it for the Quini..... 6-1 game or the Yale-Cornell playoff game. Email me at lynahred@hotmail.com if interested.by marty - Hockey
Re: Thanks - 22 years ago
Yes, Thanks Grady and thanks Pete Tufford. The only way we can improve on these two is to talk Pete into doing more of the games. There is nothing like a player and I mean a real player like Pete making comments that mean something. This is the best broadcast team in college hockey. I also would like to thank Coach Schafer for making the players into a team. It starts during recruiting thenby marty - Hockey
Re: Really, REALLY off-topic: Pepsi - 22 years ago
Speaking of Pepsi, the ECAC should be ashamed that they don't have their tournament in the Pepsi Arena in Albany. The facility in Lake Placid is third rate. I have to conclude that the money split must be better in the Lake Placid deal. At least I hope that is the reason that they have it in such a crazy place.by marty - Hockey
Re: YES Network carrying games! - 22 years ago
I hope the Sunday game will be on YES. I missed getting a copy of the Saturday game because I didn't put my order in with my Boston buddy. I did see the game live. Priceless.by marty - Hockey
Re: NCAA tournament results - 22 years ago
I spent a very enjoyable year at UofM and root for them on a regular basis. I would love to see my two alma maters play each other soon. No contest though - CU would be favored at our house.by marty - Hockey
Re: YES Network carrying games! - 22 years ago
Will the game be interspersed with the West Regional which begins before the CU-QU game ends?by marty - Hockey
Re: NCAA tournament results - 22 years ago
Did you read about Michigan being thrown out of their own locker room? In the West Regional they aren't first seed so they don't get the nice locker room.....by marty - Hockey
