Re: poor grades? - 21 years ago
The more I think about this the less I am convinced that B+ A- was the center of the curve in the intro science courses. So I'm loosing my mind. If so, the center of the curve was likely C+ B-. The fact that I can't remember of course is another argument for just how little all this stuff matters. And when I can't remember this, I feel old.by marty - Hockey
Re: poor grades? - 21 years ago
That is hard to believe Adam. 10 for 10?? I was a Chem E and I remember the chemistry department had a program for normalizing the distribution of the grades before applying the A's etc. They took standard deviation into account (unlike the Math department, Prof. Rand) and my recollection was that many of the Chem courses had the curve centered between B+ and A-. I graduated in '74 as my nameby marty - Hockey

BTW, next season, the Pepsi Center will host one of the regionals, and RPI and the ECAC serve as the hosts -- so will all ECAC teams be playing there? I'm not sure, but I am relatively sure that RIP won't be playing there. They do get a nice "sky" box though.by marty - Hockey
Re: 2003 - 21 years ago
Like a tying goal--back when fourth lines saw little action--from fourth-liner Eddie Ambis in the 1970 ECAC championship game, when it was beginning to look like Bruce Bullock might steal it for Clarkson. Wasn't Ed also the only American on the team for at least some of his time on the hill. What a great way to make your mark. I remember when one of my friends walked past Ed with me on campusby marty - Hockey

Many rinks feel like there is a size difference from the stands. Union seems small, too but is listed at 200 x 85 on USCHO I think.by marty - Hockey

I thought that the comment was concerning writing ability - which he inherited from his mom. But his devotion to the Big Red before the fall of '02 was primarily due to seeing his dad's anguish and delight at games he has attended since approximately 1990. This included a yearly trip to Ithaca that coincided with Coach Schafer's first season. His comment at the end of game two versus Yale in tby marty - Hockey
Re: Way OT: Armenia - 21 years ago
I know just a bit. My grandparents were scared out before the killings began. I think they came over in 1898. My grandfather had to borrow money to make it from New York to the Albany area and of course the story goes that he repaid the loan. But as for the other side, I don't think much history has survived. Their name doesn't seem to be listed on the Ellis Island database. Although alterby marty - Hockey
Re: "This Week in ECAC Hockey" - 21 years ago
Actually, uh, kinda - different middle name. I'm a Jr. even though my grandfather, born in Armenia, was Martin as he had no middle name.by marty - Hockey
Re: "This Week in ECAC Hockey" - 21 years ago
He should know better. He has heard the trivia question - the answer to which is Brian Cropper. And add my name to those that didn't notice. But I tend to skim to the point of distraction. He sometimes reads this board. I think I'll let it go for a few days. Thanks for pointing it out though. He was under strick orders from his dad not to spend more than four minutes writing the thing butby marty - Hockey

Re: "This Week in ECAC Hockey" - 21 years ago
Thanks for the heads up. On an unrelated topic, I received my first Weekly Hockey Release by Email. I think I was added to this list because I bought Albany ECAC tickets. And in an even less related topic my son wrote his first Yale Daily News article. Check out the topic here:by marty - Hockey
Re: Colgate Webcam Thursday - 21 years ago
As noted on USCHO you can fast forward or rewind to any point on the archive if you right click on the image and change the size. I had to change to 50% to see the controls. The USCHO poster suggests 100%. Crowe's Drug Store ad is at the 58:45 mark.by marty - Hockey

The question was generic. Do the standing room tickets only become available on game night? If not do more become available if there is room?by marty - Hockey
Attention Albany area fans - 21 years ago
My Colgate alum friend said that he heard that the game will be broadcast on Time Warner cable in the Capitol District. When I checked out the tvguide.com they do have an unnamed ECAC game listed for Thursday at 7PM.by marty - Hockey
