Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Friday Times Union Article on Cornell - 19 years ago
Like or loathe it, you must afford The Program its due. Since Schafer arrived prior to the 1995-96 season, it has been the class of the league. And like or loathe the evil empire in Cambridge, you have to give JPM his due. This is the best color coverage of college hockey that Albany has ever seen. We must find this guy in the press box and buy him a fish sandwich.by marty - Hockey

For art there is the Clark Museum in Williamstown Mass (and also the Williams College art gallery or museum or whatever). The Clark was started by some fairly eccentric people who after seeing art treasures ruined in the wars in Europe decided that the middle of nowhere beat the hell out of a location in New York or Boston. They own an amazing amount of art and so no two trips are ever quite thby marty - Hockey

For those who haven't tried it, Beeeej is right on. The video translates well (not great) to a telelvision screen. So if you have video out jacks from your computer you should give it a try.by marty - Hockey

But the rotten thing is that if you drop the package and the dolts at TW make up with the geniuses at MSG you're out in the cold because you've lost CSTV!by marty - Hockey
Re: Games on TV - 19 years ago
This is a major annoyance for those of us who want to watch as many playoff games as possible. I flipped to one of the Fox sports stations today to see the damn message that I couldn't watch the college hockey game that is being replayed on that channel. So until this is resolved there will be no CCHA and/or WCHA to watch in my house.by marty - Hockey
Re: Games on TV - 19 years ago
They (Syracuse TW) grab the games from the north country. Why the HE double hockey sticks would they favor Colgate games over Cornell? I think Al DeFlorio posted that the Colgate game will be on TW this weekend. What a disgrace. Maybe they like Colgate because the trip home is shorter?by marty - Hockey
Re: XMI Webcast for the playoffs - 19 years ago
It's fine to complain if you must, but realize that XMI isn't in the black on this whether Cornell underwrites it or not. At least they aren't in the black in the way that it's taught in B School. How many here on the forum hope to open a college sports webcasting business? I agree that it would be better to do this with either volunteer talent or for the school to do it, but....my point iby marty - Hockey
[OT] Nickerson champion for 5th time - 19 years ago
Albany, Troy Nickerson won his record 5th NYS high school wrestling title on Saturday night. The story points out that his 209-7 record includes four losses in 7th grade. Even better is this: Nickerson eclipsed the record he shared with Jesse Jantzen, who won four state titles at Shoreham Wading Rivers High on Long Island from 1997-2000.... Re: Most annoying fan at lynah - 19 years ago
How about the jerk who yelled: Where's the Bears? at the end of the second intermission. Wait ... that's me. So where were/are the skating bears? I was looking forward to the striptease, etc. (So was Janice.) We have had a great weekend. Nice weather, great atmosphere and all. Re: RPI follows Clarkson and St Lawrence games with suspensions - 19 years ago
Economakos followed his suspension with the first hat trick by an RIP team since Murley in 2002. In spite of the 8-4 blowout, RIP could have lost this game if Holy Cross had stayed out of the penalty box.by marty - Hockey

Extra large with real butter. And for those who might stumble on this thread sometime in the near or distant future I will copy Jon's article here because it will disappear from the link in the first message in a few more days. Also note that the situation that unfolded for RIP last weekend may have cost them one or both games. They lost to Vermont by a goal and to a good Dartmouth team (by marty - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs Vermont Postgame Thread - 19 years ago
The final at Hamilton really makes our defense look special. Cornell stopped a talented Dartmouth team who can really click when the D isn't up to the challenge. I saw the Dartmouth 9-1 over RIP game and some of the goals there look liked like scripted practice drills. LGR!by marty - Hockey
