upprdeck I think we have brought it up before. Athletics has issues that extend way beyond what normal people can see and this is just another example. Ticketing Golf course Funding Facilites/stadium issues The Practice facility, the sprint facility, Lynah issues, rowing, baseball, the football stadium etc Now clothing. tons of issues At least Andy took care of wrestling.by Chris '03 - Other Sports

Re: New athletic director Nicki Moore - 1 year ago
upprdeck Its not volume of what you buy for the team. its volume of what your fans buy that drives the bus. thats why I wonder who we use to make our Unis. It matters on the variety and control over what you can wear and get made. If you want home away and alternate and special and all that you need to show them its worth it. billhoward 360 miles Ithaca to Manchester NH for the NCAA Regional to play the defending national champ. 300 miles for us coming out of Metro NY (NJ). Allentown or Bridgeport would've been fine. Manchester is a reach for Cornell fans unless they're well into New England (Westport and Greenwich don't count). Jeff Hopkins '82 I went to the Ticket-shafter site about an hour ago. There were a lot fewer seats available than I thought there'd be. I assume the four schools get an allotment that are held back from general sale for at least a few days.by Chris '03 - Hockey

JasonN95 CU77 Many thanks for all your great reporting over the season, ugarte! Seconded. Ugarte, thanks for all you post and write. I follow Cornell wrestling largely by what you and others put on this forum. Agreed. Thank you for your relentless and detailed updates all season long.by Chris '03 - Other Sports

Scersk '97 LGR14 The a capella stopped when the band scuttled Gonna Fly Now at the start of the third and started with Glitter instead. And it stopped at the same time no matter where Cornell played - Lynah, MSG, etc. Gonna Fly Now was also one of the best moments of the game as a fan and really set the tone for an epic third period. Really a shame that it's gone. Don't get me started. Itby Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: 2023 ECAC Post Season - 1 year ago
The off day seems overwhelmingly likely to diminish attendance. Especially when the games on a Thursday start at 2pm for whatever reason. I understand the motivation behind the off day. Teams playing long overtimes and then again on short rest probably diminish the quality of the product. But if we're moving to off days, can we go back to two regionals? Run them Thursday through Sunday with 8by Chris '03 - Hockey

Dafatone Al DeFlorio upprdeck QUin/Colgat kicks this off Friday.. I think it becomes a bit clearer before we even go on the ice. So I have to root for Q? Argh! Gotta root for Q, then if the unthinkable happens, gotta root for Sucks. I hate it. Not interested in seeing Harvard pull even with 12 titles and four since Cornell's most recent title thank you very much. Would rather see the Quiby Chris '03 - Hockey

CU77 RichHInteresting that there is no Ithaca-based radio today. Will there be any at all this season? The schedule has no radio listed for any game ... If that's the case, I will miss Barry and Tom and Howie! Maybe since it's still basketball season, there's no coverage?by Chris '03 - Other Sports

Re: Union @ Cornell - 1 year ago
Iceberg Yale is charging $25 a head (!!!) for their Senior Night game at the end of this month when Cornell visits, which was a bit of a shock for me. Actually, many tickets for that game have already been sold Yale traditionally draws well and games with Cornell very often sell out. Harvard charged $35 for the cheapest seat for the Cornell game so suddenly $25 sounds cheap.by Chris '03 - Hockey

Give My Regards RichH I don’t pay close attention to little regional tournaments like this. Was this also a 5-min 3x3 OT w/ shootout format? Or do they play real hockey in Bostontown? 20-minute OT (Harvard scored at 19:59) No. It was 3x3 for five minutes. Apparently due to an NCAA requirement. Harvard scored at 4:58.5.by Chris '03 - Hockey

RichH I’m going to broach this subject in the begging mode: PLEASE PLEASE stop putting the final score in the thread title. I was going to try to watch in the morning. I can come to this forum in my usual Pavlovian manner without clicking on the game thread, but when you update the thread title with the score, it RUINS THINGS. No need for that. Cosign. I frequently watch games on delay too.by Chris '03 - Hockey

Iceberg I think a RPI player just got ejected for grabbing the face mask of a Princeton guy during a post-whistle scrum that was only noticed upon a Princeton challenge. And shortly afterwards Princeton scores within 20 seconds of the major power play to make it 5-2. I can't think of last time I've seen that kind of penalty called I recall facemasking being called against Cornell fiveish yearsby Chris '03 - Hockey

Scersk '97 George64 Scersk '97 I'm a cranky oldish alum, too. Cranky, perhaps, but class of ‘97, oldish? Just wait! I am middle-cranked. Re: Harvard @ Cornell, 12/2/2022 - 1 year ago
abmarks RichH Dafatone I don't have the numbers, but "Harvard had a lot of draft picks in the past" and "they had more than in " aren't claims that dispute whether Harvard, in 2022-23, has the most draft picks of any team. I don’t think draft picks are everything, and if they are a significant measure of talent, then we can all point and laugh at Harvard for underachievingby Chris '03 - Hockey

nshapiro Selection show today at 1pm. Just wondering if anyone can explain the SOS column - on this page - it says Virginia is #1 and Cornell is #46 in SOS... but if I go to the Syracuse page,(who played both), it shows a SOS of .6563 for Virginia and .7813 for Cornell Cornell in as 14 seed.
