ECAC Playoff Changes - 1 year ago
First round for men to be single game starting this year. Quarters still best of three. Women to expand to 12 teams starting next year.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Princeton - 1 year ago
Iceberg Trotsky Hey, Princeton. You're an embarrassment to Sweet Caroline. And Sweet Caroline sucks. The canned music after every stoppage really took away from the atmosphere of the rink. I don't remember it being nearly that bad in previous years. Someone did ask me why the band wasn't there. I guess financial reasons? I couldn't think of any other good answer. As for the game, it wasby Chris '03 - Hockey

We'll have a packed house in January when we host the Big Red. Our home game against Cornell this season is officially SOLD OUT! #GoCrimson ➡️: pic.twitter.com/7IkCkseUgl— Harvard Men's Hockey (@HarvardMHockey) October 25, 2022 ?s=46&t=cboml5IZ5ipJnSpJVjpzHQby Chris '03 - Hockey

Scersk '97 BearLover In particular, Seger has put up strong numbers on some bad Union teams. Based on his size (6’4), he could be more of a power forward. 3rd in scoring last year; 2nd in scoring his freshman year. Perhaps more importantly, he's clearly not the defensive problem on those bad Union teams. Big kid that can score and play defense, and who will likely be around for two years? Re: Cornell football 2022 - 1 year ago
David Harding RichH Swampy …we went on to win NC's in all 3 sports. Would anyone seriously criticize AN or MP for their poor handling of athletics? *cough* Yes, absolutely. Sorry, but a couple high-profile teams winning isn’t the only metric of a job like A.D. Unless the team is football????? No number of football wins could redeem the AD. Re: 2022-23 Men's Schedule - 1 year ago
billhoward Yes, "fill the arena " is the game plan. That means schools with a lot of alumni living in metro NYC along with students who by Saturday have had enough of being back at home and want to get out. So good schools to play Cornell at MSG would include Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, BU, BC, UMass. And UConn. Preferably not an ECAC school. UConn will get gooby Chris '03 - Hockey

billhoward And/or replacing low, small buildings: the ADW White House and Big Red Barn could be donor sites. .... The Klarman Hall add-on to Goldwin Smith on the arts quad is fine.... Hard disagree on both points.by Chris '03 - Other Sports
Re: 2022-23 Men's Schedule - 1 year ago
Weder Dafatone Trotsky arugula Not sure that UConn is a draw. Penn state generally is a draw, but penn state hockey?UConn basketball, yes. UConn hockey? UConn has hockey? I think it's new. I could see them being like ASU where they get competitive-ish pretty quick. UConn has been back in D1 for 20+ years and still hasn't made the NCAAs, and they just won a Hockey East postseason game for thby Chris '03 - Hockey

Iceberg wake So it now appears that the Cornell vs AIC games are a home and home series. First game 12/29 in Ithaca and second in Springfield. Ma on New years Eve. Curious as to the times of each game Turns out they're both at Lynah so I would expect a trip to Springfield in a future season Schafer doesn’t have the strongest record on reciprocal arrangements with AHA schools so I wouldn’t gby Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Andy Noel announces his retirement! - 1 year ago
billhoward Knowing that many here regard Andy Noel as the blind squirrel who finds some nuts ... does he get credit for Connor Buczek and the lacrosse team's incredible run from "unlikely to make a deep run" to the closest anybody came to beating Maryland? No.by Chris '03 - Other Sports
Re: 2022 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Thread of DESTINY - SEMIFINALS - 1 year ago
dbilmes Do we assume Cornell will be in the same sections of the stadium on Monday? If so, what were they? I'm planning on buying tickets at the stadium to save on the exorbitant fees. The hybrid undergrad/alumni band (spanning the classes of '75-'25) will be in 129 if that helps. I don't get the sense there was much attention being paid to where people were sitting Saturday vs what the ticketsby Chris '03 - Other Sports

RichH Chris '03 blackwidow I will always cherish my time at Cornell and am forever grateful for the friendships and memories made over the last four years. It was an honour to play in front of the Lynah Faithful and represent the Big Red. That being said I’m excited to be grad transferring to @MSU_Hockey. pic.twitter.com/o6BO8mOLYV— Nate McDonald (@natemcd1) April 12, 2022 ?t=fKG5fuJcLNEOoby Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: 2022 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament Thread of DESTINY - 1 year ago
dag14 The reasons for Ben's departure were not that simple. Andy Noel did not blame it on his handling of the hazing/partying incident. There was something else at issue that has never been publicly disclosed although there has been a tremendous amount of speculation over the years. We may never know what actually prompted his termination since the parties have no reason to share the details wby Chris '03 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio CU77 Two starting D, Doria & Jacobs, not playing ... Gonna need a lotta goals to win. First five minutes had the feel of a game that would be a race to 20.by Chris '03 - Other Sports

Ken711 billhoward TimV No better place to put this, but Ricky Rahne getting a lot of nice comments as offensive coordinator of Penn State from Fiesta Bowl Announcers. Story about him here. Indeed, a lot of shoutouts and shots of him up in the press box. It gets you thinking, What about the head job at Cornell? Odds are it would be step downward financially. Trotsky It will be a few years and anything can happen, but he may be our highest-rated incoming F since Riley Nash. I just hope he gets here in time for Grady and Jason to have to say variations on "Pirtle from Ertel." Sounds like something from Dr. Seuss.by Chris '03 - Hockey

Scersk '97 PravdaAndy Noel, whose leadership has guided Cornell to unprecedented athletics' success in the 21st century, has announced plans to retire as the Meakem*Smith Director of Athletics and Physical Education. … Noel's legacy of student-centered leadership, as well as his laser-focused commitment and loyalty to his coaches and staff, has been the foundation upon which he built an athby Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Yale game postponed - 2 years ago
ugarte when the hell are we going to fit in the brown game? if it's going to be a midweek game i hope it's before union/rpi i guess? It’s a mess. And each week it seems more games are getting postponed and squeezed into weeknights. I wonder if the ecac has a contingency for using the first playoff weekend for makeup games (possibly only those needed to determine seeds) and converting the firstby Chris '03 - Hockey

Jim Hyla Trotsky Q winning. Harvard looks like shit. Agree. The most interesting comment that I heard from the announcers was at the end of the game. With about a minute to play, Harvard took a penalty. Q was up 3-0 so the Q announcers said something to the effect "Up 3-0 with a minute to go. We might see the second PP unit come out for this one. Re: Arizona State January 2nd game thread - 2 years ago
CU2007 What streaming options do we have this weekend? Best I can tell is it’s nchc.tv. One month ND pass is like 25 bucks with automatic renewal. Or 17 for one day. Something like that. Can pay more for full league access.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: Opponents and Others, 2021-22 - 2 years ago
ursusminor Both RPI and DC have postponed their games for the upcoming weekend. Thus, the Harvard-Union game is the only one of the 4 games in the RPI and Union vs. Dartmouth and Harvard set currently scheduled. Union @ Dartmouth now Wednesday January 26th. Dartmouth visits Lynah two days later.by Chris '03 - Hockey
Re: cornell covid testing - 2 years ago
Trotsky Chris '03 Harvard will be remote to open spring term. Would be reasonable to expect other schools to follow suit. IIRC we followed them in 2020. Gonna be something when they cancel their sports. Seems like lots of schools trying to find a balance. Yale and cornell now mandating boosters but still plan to open on time. Yale banning spectators from sports through at least 1/1. Unionby Chris '03 - John Spencer Is Dead
