Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Quarterfinal rooting interests - 11 years ago
Been following Cornell hockey since 1966! Only saw Cornell lose one game at Lynah during my four undergrad years. Was at Lake Placid in 1970. Was at the US-USSR game in Lake Placid 1980. Was at the CU-Providence 6-5OT game in 1979. Also have seen all-too-many melt-downs and missed opportunities. We'll be at Q because Cornell is playing and has a shot! LGR!!!by Larry72 - Hockey

From Watching the game on TV at Lynah East, it did feel like a home game even with the Hvd announcers. Three point climb this weekend out of the pit. Two weekends to go. Let's Go RED!by Larry72 - Hockey

Re: General Women's Thread CU 4 Princeton 1 - 11 years ago
A goal for this game (other than winning) is to fill Lynah Rink for the first time for a women's hockey game. Students and CU Staff get in free. I believe that tickets are just $6 each for the rest of us.by Larry72 - Hockey

I'm definitely showing my age - Lear also invented the eight track tape cartridge (the iPod/Mp3 player of the 1960s) and the radio direction finder.by Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Sorry for the downtime - 11 years ago
The extra milliseconds between a server in Dallas and one in the DC area do add up, especially when there's heavy traffic on the server or to the server farm. Since most of the load here comes from the northeast, it makes sense to have the server closer to the bulk of the users. That's one of the reasons that the big-guys have multiple servers located across the globe to maintain consistent speby Larry72 - Hockey

Not exactly an alumni, however Dustin Brown, from Ithaca is having an incredible playoff run for the LA Kings including a goal last night and two shorties against Vancouver on Friday.by Larry72 - Hockey
Re: National Collegiate Hockey Conference - 12 years ago
Oh boy - you are bringing back memories of places long gone to someone who has essentially never left Ithaca: - Movie Theaters. All the "old" downtown movie theaters are gone: Near Near (Strand) was torn down. Far near (Temple) is a bank drive-thru. Near Far (State Theater) still exists but rarely shows movies. It has been greatly rehabbed and does many stage, music, and other prby Larry72 - Hockey

French Rage TrotskySee you next year in the Alumni Senility Waiting Room. When I was a student, the campus was all orange groves. I believe you're referring to a certain university on the left coast!! Either that, or I have forgotten the orange groves on the hill in my youth! Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky ugarte Might also want to add "are in the same bracket as Michigan, recently lost to Harvard and RPI" to the Why They Won't section.I'm pretty sure those scores don't carry over. Unfortunately, the inconsistent play may.We were damn consistent in the Harvard game. And in the Colgate game!!by Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game - attendance - 12 years ago
Several of us were discussing the venue issue while in AC this past weekend. The closest the ECAC has ever come to having a real "event" location was the old Boston Garden. It was a wonderful venue that was filled for nearly every ECAC championship I ever attended as a CU fan. Also, Boston is a great hockey town, a nice city to visit, not too expensive for current students and yoby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Happy Randy Wilson Day! - 12 years ago
It's amazing what a wonderful small world hockey is. Every time I hear the radio clip, it brings back wonderful memories of being there and photographing that game. Great to hear that Randy enjoyed a professional career and got to play for his Dad and Uncle. Three generations of hockey players...wonderful to hear. Thanks for sharing.by Larry72 - Hockey
