Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: WTF??? - 21 years ago
It's nice to see as this thread moves along that once most of us got the frustration out, we look at what needs to be done against MSU-Mankato to WIN. MSU_Mankato seems to be dominated by a run and gun offense, defenseman who don't know what to do in the defensive zone, and only OK goalies that are left hung out to dry a lot of the time. Some other facts: - Their top scorer is 5-9 170lbs - Intby Larry72 - Hockey
David LeNeveu - Hobey Baker Finalist! - 21 years ago
From the Hobey Baker Web Site Dave LeNeveu – Cornell Univ. – Sophomore goaltender – Fernie, British Columbia Two years running now, LeNeveu has had the best goals against record in the nation and his current mark of 1.14 not only leads all goalies in the land by a goal per game, but would be the lowest ever in college hockey history. He has 8 shutouts on the season tieing the ECAC record and hby Larry72 - Hockey

Art, it looks like most of the eLynah faithful are in the Boston area and didn't take their computers with them! LGR Larry '72by Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Fans Rock - 21 years ago
A friend of mine was up this past weekend as well. He's a Clarkson grad who lived in Ithaca for about 10 years and is now lives in St Louis and is a pretty dedicated Blues fan. He said that most of the Blues games are very quiet and nothing like the college game and from his view there's definitely no place like Lynah. From his perspective, the only time NHL rinks approach the kind of fan invby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Nieuwy 500 Countdown: 1!!!!! - 21 years ago
Looking at the list, being just the 32nd player to score 500 or more goals puts Joe in pretty rare company. It's something very special and something to cherish. Congratulations!! And who knows, the legs may have enough to get him into the high 20s or better on the list. Larryby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: OT: Cornell to name new prez today - 21 years ago
I was invited to the lunch today where Jeffrey Lehman '77 was officially announced as the 11th President of Cornell. (One of the perks of being Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce.) At the end of the lunch, current President Rawlings remarked that in addition to all the academic and research greatness of Cornell that was talked about by Jeff in his remarks, Cornell is currently ranked #4 in Nby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: anyone been to estero? - 21 years ago
We recently decided to attend the Everblades Tournament. I checked with Sue Detzer about tickets. She told me that the unsold tickets from Cornell's allotment have been sent back. Cornell will be seated in and around Section 108. The Ticket Office number is: 941-948-7825, ext. 1500. There are a number of hotels north of the arena. The team will be staying in Bonita Springs which is right nby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: First Line - 21 years ago
You can't forget Larry Fullan, John Hughes, & Kevin Petit in '70. And with Dan Lodboa and Steve Giuliani on the points, they WERE unbeatable!! Larry '72by Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Saturday BU updates - 21 years ago
Both calls were really bad!! From where I sat, Lenny did NOT have a chance to get up. And the Non-Goal was a deflection off the skate...no kicking motion. As for the rest of the game, CU played really well. They played just about a perfect third period allowing BU very few scoring chances. A repeat performance on Sunday would be great. The Thanksgiving crowd was pretty good by the numbersby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: donation to Cornell athletics vs Cornell Hockey Assoc. membership - 21 years ago
I do receive a gift receipt from Cornell and do count it as a tax deduction. I believe Cornell counts it as a directed gift to athletics. Larryby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: "What do you want more of from eLynah" poll discussion - 21 years ago
Another way to contribute directly to the hockey program is to join the Cornell Hockey Association. All the dollars help...however in the two top tiers, Coaches Club and Coaches Circle ($500 and $1,000) respectively, there's significant money going directly to the team. Some of the "extras" that are funded by these two programs are: - Friday night and Saturday morning team meals forby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Alert--Season ticket renewal - 21 years ago
The parking pass allows you to park at the top of the Kite Hill lot, right across from Lynah. Makes for a nice short walk to the rink...very nice on a cold/snowy night. Larryby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: We were hockey players once, and young - 21 years ago
Giles Theadgold...I thought that name was erased from my memory. A referee like no other. He made Bill Cleary look invisible. He and Harkness would get into it nearly every game. It was like another game was going on between the two of them. Who could bait the other. Thanks to Arthur and Al for jogging our thoughts. Wonderful times! Larry '72by Larry72 - Hockey
Lake Placid Logistics - 22 years ago
Is there anyone out there interested in driving my Jeep back to Ithaca from Lake Placid with my younger son (age 17, but no drivers license) on Sunday after the ECAC tournament? He's going up with my older son Brian, from Ithaca to LP on Thursday for the RPI-Dartmouth game. Brian's heading back to RPI after the tournament (he's a good kid otherwise) and I need to get my car and other son back tby Larry72 - Hockey
