Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Cornell at Niagara Fri 10/30 - 8 years ago
Lines and defense pairings for tonight. Very balanced lines, kind of like last weekend. A bit uncharacteristic for Schafer led teams.by Larry72 - Hockey
Re: 10/25 (2pm) Cornell 6 Laurentian 1 - 8 years ago
I hate to say this, but it felt like a Fl game. Where was everybody?? Laurentian was truly terrible. Still, six goals all scored by freshman seems like s pretty good start. Next week, Real games! Can't waitby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: ECAC QF - 9 years ago
I know CU didn't play well at all, but I think Union is now firing on all cylinders and knows how to win. I think Union has a good shot at making it to the championship game.by Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the pros -- December 2014 - 9 years ago
Andy Iles is back in Florida. He signed with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) early in the month and played in his first game on December 19th winning 5-3 with a 23 save performance. Everblades win 7th straight.by Larry72 - Hockey

Re: cornell - quin sat night - 9 years ago
The scoring play should have been reviewed. Why have the equipment and not use it? I was at the two UVM-Maine games last weekend. There were five reviews in the two games. One was a goal review where there might have been goalie interference (there wasn't). Three were on plays where there were scrambles around the net and the refs wanted to make sure puck never crossed the line and one wasby Larry72 - Hockey

Re: Red/White Game - 9 years ago
This is the 2nd year or so for this format. Women and men each on for about 2.5 minutes, then a team change on a whistle. So no mixed gender lines ever. The succeeding faceoff was wherever the puck was when the whistle blew. So each team, red and white had about four lines, 4 pairs of defense, and at least 2 goalies. In each 2.5 minute shift, both sets of lines got to play. The coaches setuby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four Finest - 9 years ago
Uh no we didn't! In 1969-70 Cornell hockey went 29-0-0. There is other team in college hockey to ever come close to that record.by Larry72 - Hockey

It was fun to get back to LP this past March. Only had been there once since the ECACs moved to Albany. Restaurants are good and diverse (from very affordable to more expensive). Seems like plenty of places to stay. There's a brewpub (with brewery) right in the middle of downtown. Not a lot to do unless you are a skier (Whiteface was very busy) or a back country hiker. We went to the Olympiby Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 10 years ago
Yep -- working part-time for the IJ as a photographer although few of my finals pictures made the paper. It's surprisingly by today's standards, but that game wasn't considered all that big a deal then. The next time I came back to Lake Placid was when the "new" Olympic Arena was built in the late 1970s. Spent a few winters in LP doing pre-Olympic photography and then through the 19by Larry72 - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 10 years ago
Dan Lodboa came to mind while I was watching last night. That was the last time I recall a defenseman taking control of an NCAA championship game. Cornell was NOT going to lose that night in 1970 against Clarkson. A lot like Union wasn't going to lose against Minnesota last night. Both games were total team efforts, but both featured a defenseman who was playing on a different planet. I mayby Larry72 - Hockey
