Re: Cornell @ Harvard 1/17/14 - 10 years ago
Bahnstorm dbilmes Harvard pep band replaced by a middle school band which featured 10 percussionists. Unlike the Harvard band, they were all there well before the game began. They also sounded nearly as good as Harvard band usually sounds. I think Cornell should reach out to do this same thing when the college students are on break. Josh '99 RichH The $1 hot dogs and $2 beer deal is valid through the end of the 1st intermission. One can drink a lot of beer by the end of the first intermission if one puts one's mind to it. Not that I would ever do such a thing, of course. Hopefully it is a half decent beer for $2. I've had mixed results in the past. It's also a 2 beer limit so bring your DD to buy you a few to hold on toby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Season Review - 12 years ago
A great season for a relatively young team. The upperclassmen were strong, but I cannot recall a team with so much potential. The results of the season really reflect the youth and when put in perspective, underscore how successful this team was. A resounding win at Yale at the start of the season straddled by two disappointing losses embodied the rollercoaster that was to come. A heartbreaby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Red Cast Really Sucks - 12 years ago
When North Dakota played at Cornell in 2010 they took the feed from a network. It was the best quality video they've ever had. The next night it was back to dissapointment. Unfotunately all I do is complain.... write in campaign to change providers? If we can organize for a t-shirt we certainly can organize something to get our voices heard. Occupy Lynah? Something!! Re: Jersey Mockups - 12 years ago
At the risk of bringing this thread back on topic... 1. Though I don't love a few of the designs in this particularly jersey, it would be nice to do something like this and then auction off the jersey for charity - similar to the breast cancer pink jerseys. I think something a bit more "cartoonish" like this jersey would have some appeal and could raise cash for a good cause. Hopefuby sockralex - Hockey
Re: The Answer's 3rd Straight Shutout (Niagara Postgame) - 12 years ago
css228 semsox Ben Al DeFlorio Harvard nips UHN 7-6 and AIC(!) shuts out Brown 3-0. After being 4-0 down, as well. Yale lost at Sacred Heart 7-6, despite only facing 19 shots. As amusing as it is seeing these kinds of results, it is not a good thing for the league. Yale losing to a winless Sacred Heart team is embarrassing. At the very least, Hahvahd beating UNH should mitigate some of the PWRby sockralex - Hockey

Re: Football stadium hockey: Shark-jumping 101 - 13 years ago
I was just there for US Soccer on Tuesday, which leaves me with a couple of observations. 1. WHY!? They can't fill the Civic Center for a typical Wolfpack game. 2. Who is going to come out to watch UCONN men and/or women play in a 25k capacity stadium? 3. At least no one will be spending 2.5 hours to get out of the parking lot. 4. Why?!! Best bet is to get the Bruins there somehow... Betby sockralex - Hockey

scoop85 Well, with hoops (sadly) finished for the season, it's time to fully shift attention to hockey. Looking forward to joining my fellow Faithful in Albany tomorrow night. I'm expecting a large and raucous Cornell crowd; let's make the selection committee look brilliant for keeping us East by having killer attendance! On TV it looked like Cornell support for basketball was fantastic. Letby sockralex - Hockey
Re: The Sweet Sixteen - 14 years ago
UK had much better defense than expected. As anticipated, UK ran the transition amazingly well, but I didn't think they could have shut down the 3 as well as they did. They left Cornell with some difficult, hand-in-your face shots that didn't fall. The open ones didn't fall either for the most part. Got them down to a few points in the closing minutes but just could not sustain. Great seasby sockralex - Other Sports
Re: The (Kentucky) Empire Strikes Back - 14 years ago
I don't think schools, NC$$, and especially (most) fans of big school teams would want anything to do with that, let alone care how the graduation data is interpreted. They do not care who graduates, who flunks out, and who goes pro - they just care about wins today. From a reply to article on 35. Re: Cornell "Suicide School" NPR Story - 14 years ago
Between the off-court media attention and the fences, this will not look good for pre-frosh week. I remember walking over the suspension bridge when I visited as a pre-frosh and thinking how awesome the view was and loving it. The bounce of the bridge with each step was like nothing else. The experience certainly wasn't the decisive factor, but I hope that all students get to see the view.by sockralex - John Spencer Is Dead

Greenberg '97 They even looked at replays for two or three minutes. We did not get replays in the arena, but I think ESPN was certain they were going to overturn the call. Apparently, it was conclusive to everyone but the ref. In the postgame, Schafer was asked about that play, and he said something like, "What, you mean the goal?" I guess it's a good thing I can't find that clby sockralex - Hockey
Re: UNH Pregame Thread (RIT and Denver too) - 14 years ago
mnagowski Um, why does everybody misspell UNH? Yeah, it's a long story that involves their own fans' inability to put their U-H-N signs in correct order. The story ends with them sucking and not deserving respect when being discussed in pregame discussion.by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Volpatti - 14 years ago
nr53 ebilmes IJ: Brown's Aaron Volpatti set the school record for single-season penalty minutes in the ECACH consolation game Saturday. Volpatti said he mentioned that he was near the record to referee Chip McDonald before the game, and when he took a slashing call late in the third period he asked McDonald if it was worth a 10-minute penalty. McDonald asked if Volpatti wanted a 10-minute penaby sockralex - Hockey
Re: UNH Pregame Thread (RIT and Denver too) - 14 years ago
ugarte Trotsky KeithK It's supposed to be clear through tomorrow so worst case tey'd probably fly out a day late and lose their practice day. (Which won't bring any complaints from me!) Dumb question but... wouldn't they just practice at home? Not if they're twiddling their thumbs in the airport, hoping for the all-clear. I think this could be an impact.
