Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: East Regional Roll Call - 14 years ago
KeithK Beeeej Basketball. There's a separate roll call on the Hockey forum. How could it be about hockey? Hockey never gets to play in the East Regional! (Oh wait...) You could have said that about Basketball in the last 40 years.by sockralex - Other Sports
Re: 2010 NCAA hockey regional ticket situation - 14 years ago
Jacob '06 RichH cumak If I purchase tickets from the box office Friday afternoon, after the first game is over, will they still make me pay $45 for the two-game session? Or, will they be selling single-game tickets at that point? I called the box office and was told that they will only sell the two-game session, but I'm wondering if she was just saying that or if it is really true. Does anyoneby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Albany Roll Call II: Electric Boogaloo (NCAA Regionals) - 14 years ago
I will be there with my now fiancé (as of Saturday) and my best friend from high school who is an RIT alum. Hoping for another great Cornell sports weekend!by sockralex - Hockey
Re: 2010 NCAA hockey regional ticket situation - 14 years ago
215 or 125? I've been pulling up section 125 seats all day online. Called and almost got 116 but was on hold too long and had to run to a meeting...by sockralex - Hockey
Re: 2010 NCAA Tournament selections - 14 years ago
I think Barry Melrose has a kid applying to Cornell. Ben Scrivens winning Hobey, Cornell in the final... I don't mind it. If the only game I saw this year was UNH v Cornell I would think like him too.by sockralex - Hockey
Re: 2010 NCAA Tournament selections - 14 years ago
Should be a great atmosphere with RIT, UNH, and Cornell within driving distance. After 7 years of staying home or traveling out west we finally got our wish. Let's make it count! I am looking forward to seeing Denver play since I was one of few people who voted for them in the poll above. Too soon to ask about tickets? LGR!by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 Union 0 ECAC championship 2010 photo recap - 14 years ago
Thank you for the pictures! Here's a couple of pictures from my point and shoot: The Lynah Faithful let it known that despite the greater distance traveled, the Times Union Center is our house. Cornell Captains receive the trophy... ...and celebrate with the rest of the team. The team then takes turns showing off its new hardware to the fans. A differby sockralex - Hockey
Re: USCHO Picks Union - 14 years ago
Rita Josh '99 JasonN95 Beeeej Brian Sullivan picks Union over Cornell in the title game. I loved his explanation for his pick of Cornell over Brown in the semis: I really, really like Brown. The Bears play with heart, they play all-out hockey, and I really hope that they're teaching opponents a thing or two about desire along the way. That said, in the interests of picking with my mind and nby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Basketball Selection Show - 14 years ago
Josh '99 Jordan 04 YankeeLobo Cornell takes it. Obama agrees: You know who else picked the team with all the white guys? Hitler. Think about it. Hmmm...Cornell...from Ithaca....likes to be called the Big Red... has a big “C” logo that looks like a sickle. Communist!!!by sockralex - Other Sports
Re: You Are the Committee - 14 years ago
I wouldn't be happy if I saw one of our guys get rattled next to the glass like that. People were saying similar things about an RPI hit on one of the Cornell player's @ RPI last year. There was a couple of seconds left in the game and our player was skating with the puck heading towards the back of the net when the RPI player checked him and sent him into the boards. It looked dirty to me.by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Albany Roll Call - 14 years ago
I'll be there with my girlfriend. We'll be at either Bayou or Jillian's for Basketball - depends on if Jillian's learned from last year and makes a veggie option avaialble beyond french fries.by sockralex - Hockey

I am hoping that he makes adultery as popular as he made golf - then I wouldn't have to wait as long to play a round of golf if everyone is with their mistress. The man's got a record to beat at the Masters and needs to win his sponsors back so it's not very surprising to see this. Tough to say how competitive he'll be since he hasn't played in a while. My gut feeling is he'll either be amaziby sockralex - Other Sports
Re: You Are the Committee - 14 years ago
This isn't going to help North Dakota's chances... "The WCHA suspended North Dakota’s Matt Frattin late Monday for the forward’s hit on Minnesota’s Kevin Wehrs on Sunday."by sockralex - Hockey
Re: You Are the Committee - 14 years ago
Looks hopeful to me. Bimidji losing didn't help, but the way the USCHO blog post scenarios play out it says "if every game is an upset, then Cornell is out."by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Pre-Harvard Info - 14 years ago
Rita Hey, I think we now have to shell out money to B2tv in order to see the games on the internet. Do at least still get Redcast audio?** I can't remember if that audio was available last year. At least the women's SF game against Hahvahd (SUCKS!) will be streamed for free. ** According the Redcast site Redcast subscribers to get audio. You will need to fork over $8/game for pictures.by sockralex - Hockey

Re: big weekend for basketball @Harvard/@Dartmouth - 14 years ago
Thank you. CU is up 2-0 after 2. Two great goals off of passing plays after 5 minutes of sustained pressure.by sockralex - Other Sports
Re: big weekend for basketball @Harvard/@Dartmouth - 14 years ago
Score of hockey is 0-0 after 1 period. Could someone please post BB score at halftime? Thanks.by sockralex - Other Sports
Re: HAAAAAVARD! - Pregame - 14 years ago
Should be an interesting game as always. We haven't won in Cambridge since 2005 and Harvard's been up and down the entire season. Just when you think they've reached their low point, they go a bit lower, and then get a surprise win. They've solved Union twice this season and although we had a convincing win early in the season against them, they still put 3 in against us and 3 against Yale inby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Student attendance off all sports, all colleges? - 14 years ago
Josh '99 Tangent: In Quinnipiac's new sports venue, there are separate arenas for hockey and basketball, but they share a common entrance lobby. I wonder how much of a headache that must be when they've got both going on at the same time. Their biggest problem would be the traffic jam caused by all of them leaving at halftime and after the second period.by sockralex - Other Sports
Re: Letter from MetaEzra - 14 years ago
Chris '03 Can the team skate out of a giant inflatable bear head too? HAHA. Kill me now. If we resort to that or thunderstix then I will cry myself to sleep after every game.by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Letter from MetaEzra - 14 years ago
imafrshmn mnagowski 5) changing undergraduate demographics I'm interested in this effect, if it is indeed real. Are you asserting that there are less white students (in absolute numbers) now than there was some years ago and those minority factions are not as interested in school sports ? I think the more important type of demographic shift here would be in student subculture membership. Bluby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Letter from MetaEzra - 14 years ago
I hate to be one of those 'back in my day' people, but I finally made a trip back to Ithaca this weekend and took in the games from the "Townie" section for the first time in 4 years. Although I was back for a game two years ago as well, here is what stood out to me since I left in 2006: -Sections F and part of G were student sections. I remember seeing arguments in section G whenby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Beanpot Tournament - 14 years ago
RichH Very strange...I just noticed that there's a Bully Hill Vineyards ad on the boards near the red line. Yeah, that's standard at the TD Garden. I think there's one at Nassau, or wherever the Islanders play, as well. Not sure if the Sabres have one, for some reason I think they do. Definitely an interesting way to advertise the winery, but not as creative as writing it on a goat.by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac photos & comments - 14 years ago
Nice pictures and summary. Great fan picture. I feel famous!by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Quinnipiac 0, post game - 14 years ago
ebilmes Highlight of the game was when D'Agostino was whistled for tripping. He calmly skated to the bench, and Chris Moulson (who may not have been on the ice at the time) goes over to the penalty box. Hilarious. p I am fairly certain it was Scrivens that got that penalty. He put his stick out to his right side to attempt a poke check as the Q player skated by and got the guy's skates insteaby sockralex - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros - February 2010 - 14 years ago
Watching Bruins v Canadiens, announcer made a comment about "two Cornell kids" fighting for the puck in the corner when O'Byrne and Bitz spent some time battling for position against the boards.by sockralex - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac roll call - 14 years ago
I will be there. Looking forward to another Andy Bernard heckling from the drunk, incentivized Q fans. You'd think a multi-million dollar palace would get them to go to the games, but they still need to cajole them to take the trek up to that hill.by sockralex - Hockey
Re: North Dakota Postgame 1/22 - 14 years ago
Who was out last night for Cornell? It was tough to see on the video feed and because of the wrestling feed mishap I missed the line ups. Was Scali in? Another question: Do you guys think J Devin will play tonight? That was a really silly penalty he took - offensive zone boarding. I realize that it was a Game Misconduct, not Game Disqualification, but Schafer might want to show the teby sockralex - Hockey
Re: North Dakota Postgame 1/22 - 14 years ago
I think they were reviewing a big scramble that occurred about 3 minutes earlier in front of Scrivens. They saw that his right pad went into the goal and thought that the puck was in as well. Video replay was showing that someones stick blade was in the goal - not the puck.by sockralex - Hockey
