Does anyone know if film/footage of that 1962 win over Harvard even exists?by ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey

Happy Randy Wilson Day everybody! Would have loved to be there for that. Here's a new article from the Big Red Sports Network about that great day 36 years ago:by ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Old Cornell Hockey Videos/Photos - 9 years ago
I mentioned a while back that the Big Red Sports Network is producing a Cornell Hockey Documentary this year. In terms of archival footage, and in-game footage, we have gathered almost everything we need except for a few big ones: - 1962 Game vs. Harvard (when Kennedy made 48 saves) - 1967 National Championship Game and Semifinal - 1970 National Championship Game and Semifinal - Any NCAA gby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey

I've had trouble in the past with Union's online streaming. Before I spend the money on the stream, are there any other links to videos of the game?by ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Cornell Hockey Documentary - 9 years ago
This year the Big Red Sports Network, Cornell's student-run sports coverage team, will be producing a Cornell Hockey Documentary. This documentary will cover everything from the history of the program, to the Lynah Faithful and the hockey culture at Cornell. We've already looked at many old game films and newspaper stories from the library archives, and we've been given access to all the informatby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey

Re: Frozen Four - 10 years ago
One of the most impressive team performances I have ever seen in any sport. Union looked like the Soviet team from the 1970s and 80s with how well they played with each other. Regardless of what this means for Cornell and the ECAC, let's just take a moment to congratulate Union on a truly impressive runby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 10 years ago
I've watched Union play and I think their goalie is vastly overrated. He's obviously better than the average college goalie, but he has such a low GAA because Union controls the puck and the play of the game probably better than any team in the country. If Minnesota can get the same amount of scoring chances they'll have a great chance of coming backby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 10 years ago
Union doesn't worry me too much recruiting wise because their campus is hideous, Schenectady is shittier than New Haven, and many high schools have nicer rinks than them (and academically they are definitely improving, but not at Cornell's level, although this can be a double-edged sword). Because of Lynah, the history, and our location, we'll definitely always do pretty well recruiting wise. I'mby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: 2014 ECAC Early Departures - 10 years ago
I hate to see Ferlin go, as he scored at least three game winning goals this year (At Yale, at Qpac, and of course Clarkson). But while that does suck, if our offense was so terrible this year, maybe changing it up will help? He was a puck hog, but he was getting better at passing. Even though he is far from being NHL ready, I don't think he's going to get any better staying here (especially w/ Sby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey

Re: Should He Stay or Should He Go 2014 - 10 years ago
I've been wondering this question all season. Even if they lost that Game 3 to Clarkson he I'd say he should stay, but he needs to make some changes. I think the issue is now the ECAC is WAY more competitive now than it has ever been. This team is about as good as the one 2 years ago (and they made the regional finals in the NC$$), but the only difference is that year the only team worth a damn iby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Lake Placid Attendance - 10 years ago
There's a fair amount of students here who want to go to the game, and are more than willing to buy tickets, but either have no means of transportation to get there, or no place to stay. If the University offered some sort of transportation or something, I'm sure a bunch of students would do it. Or you could just be in the pep band and get to go for free! I'm aware that Lake Placid being even morby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: ECACs Lake Placid roll call 2014 - 10 years ago
Is there no consolation game this year? I haven't seen any information about one? And if there isn't one, why'd they get rid of it?by ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Game 1: Cornell 2, Clarkson 1 - 10 years ago
We generally played pretty well, but had a few very lucky bounces in front of a net, and were completely gifted a penalty call with 1:48 to go that put us on a power play, and essentially clinched the game. Andy should've had that penalty shot, but generally played pretty well, especially after a Clarkson player knocked him in the head while he was out of the box (he was eventually ejected). Will Clarkson bring their band for this series? Normally they do, but their women's team has an NCAA quarterfinal game AT Cheel Rink on Saturday, plus I believe it's spring break for Clarkson now tooby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Favorite Harvard Game Memory - 10 years ago
I know the official "hockey line" was a multi day thing, but the 1962 game was the first time students lined up for a long time to see a hockey game, which is why I thought it was acting as a predecessor to the future hockey lineby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Favorite Harvard Game Memory - 10 years ago
First off: That was the greatest game of any sport I have ever attended! For what Trotsky said (needed to at least tie to get a playoff birth, senior night for Andy Iles, 2 goal comeback, GW w/ 30 seconds left, and the loudest Lynah has been in quite some time). If I ever write another one of these articles, I am sure as hell talking about this game! And speaking of the article, I changed the misby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey

Favorite Harvard Game Memory - 10 years ago
For the big game this weekend (my fifth Harvard game, third at Lynah) I am going to write an article for the Big Red Sports Network detailing the history of the rivalry, and what has made it so special to generations of Cornell students. I'm going to try to go back as far as the 1890s, and try to get as much information about the early days of the Cornell hockey program. I know for sure I'm goingby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: WTF, is Lynah empty?! - 10 years ago
Section A and B have been as strong as ever this year, but yeah they had to give section D and E tickets to townies. I spoke with a person in the ticket office and they said this year they had a record number of sophomores who had tickets their freshman year not renew. They do need to lower the prices though, especially if we miss the NCAA tournament again. A strong run though (and after what Yalby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 - Niagara 2 - 10 years ago
I was going to take a bus home for Thanksgiving tonight, but then decided to stick around for the game. So glad I did! The crowd, especially section B had an excellent turnout, considering more than half the campus had left, and there was a blizzard, and people went absolutely beserk on that last goalby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Article on the History of the Lynah Faithful - 10 years ago
Here is the third part of my series on the Lynah Faithful. A lot of the events I talked about happened in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, so if any of you were around for those times, please give me your input (and of course feel free to give input regardless of age). I tried to make this as accurate as possible, as I talked to some very old alums, and did extensive research, but please let me knowby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: 11/2 Quinnipiac - 10 years ago
Qunnipiac beat us at our game simple as that. Great penalty killing and timely PP goals. I would've liked to see us play more of an "open ice" style, as I think we have the players to do that. Because Qpac is similar to us in terms of playing style, I think that would've caught them off guard. What worried me the most was our complete inability to win any battles in the corners, especiaby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Top 10 Lynah Faithful cheers - 10 years ago
In this article for the Big Red Sports Network, I cover the top 10 cheers. This article was supposed to more of a fun way to let freshman know about all the cheers we have, so this more of an informational piece than an actual rankings list, but being that many of you were around when these cheers were first introduced, I'd love to get your input.by ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: MSG - 10 years ago
Yale has supported its team pretty well the few years (they are reigning champs) but having been to Lynah East, I'm pretty sure 3/4 of Harvard's students don't even realize their school has a hockey team! Of course there's a lot of alums in the NYC area for both schools, but if this game sells more than 10,000 tickets I'll be shockedby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
Re: Women 2013-14 - 10 years ago
Was at the whole game with the band. Besides a bit of sloppy play late in the second period and early in the third, you really cannot ask for a better game against a team of Clarkson's caliber, especially with the number of players we lost last year. That own goal to start the game was the funniest thing I have ever witnessed though. If that ever happened in a men's game the fans would never letby ScrewBUHarvardtoo - Hockey
