First goal Wilcox on a 4-on-4.
Niagara is playing well. We almost score on a PP starting the second.
Crowd quiet, from what I can hear off the feed.
Edit: FERLIN!!! Beautiful pp goal. We set up, cycled nicely for 30 sec and have him a great look.
And Niagara ties on a bs diving call against cole bardreau
P McCarron! First career goal, beautiful shot on a 4-on-3 PP.
Aaaaaand a goalie goal, ENG. Pretty good first game by Gillam!

Anyone know if a college hockey goalie has ever scored a goal in his first career start?

Wikipedia has a very small entry on this.
NCAA
Damian Rhodes was credited with a goal while playing with Michigan Technological University
Chad Alban, Michigan State University goalie, scored an empty-net goal against Ferris State on February 28, 1998. Alban is credited as the only goalie in NCAA history to shoot the puck themselves and score a goal.
Shanley Peters was credited with a goal while playing for University of Superior Wisconsin in a game on November 15 2013 vs Eau Claire Blugolds. [25]

Is the AHA that bad?

That was a woeful performance by an recent NCAA participant, and CU played down to their competition most of the night. Ugly, ugly game.

According to John Buccigross, Gillam is only the third NCAA goalie to score a goal, ever. Video on sportscenter.

I don't know a lot about Gillam, but I can tell you one thing for sure. He's miles beyond Iles in stickhandling.

I was going to take a bus home for Thanksgiving tonight, but then decided to stick around for the game. So glad I did! The crowd, especially section B had an excellent turnout, considering more than half the campus had left, and there was a blizzard, and people went absolutely beserk on that last goal

The fourth goalie in the Wikipedia section, Shanley Miller, plays for the UW-Superior women's team, so that clears up the ambiguity between the entry and Buccigross's stat.Chris '03

I'd be willing to bet he's the first NCAA player ever to lead his team in both goals against average and goals scored per game at the same time.

Is there a reason for the increase in diving calls? I had never seen multiple diving calls in a game until last weekend, and now we had another tonight. They practically encourage it professionally, and it's usually pretty hard to call.

College Hockey, Inc. says he's the 8th college goalie to be credited with a goal. 3rd to shoot it into an empty net.

Let's face it being the last to touch the puck isn't really scoring a goal, its just how they credit an own goal. That's why when everyone thinks first NHL goalie goal they think Ron Hextall and not Billy Smith, even though the latter is the technically correct answer.MattS
