Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Thanksgiving weekend tickets idea - 21 years ago
In a sense, the ticket office addressed this by making more standing room tickets available for the BU games.by jason - Hockey
Re: Links to free audio broadcasts by Cornell's opponents - 21 years ago
I will update the links page as I become aware of changes/problems. (E.g., Yale's link last night had routine music programming --I suspect that they may only broadcast Yale home games (it's student run radio, I believe).) You can email me with any problems you discover and I will update accordingly.by jason - Hockey
Re: FREE?? - 21 years ago
People, please, for the sake of those who enjoy this board and its sense of community, could we please do without the personal attacks. This is one of the few online forums that I'm aware of were civility is generally the rule, not the exception.by jason - Hockey

Re: Link to free broadcast of Yale game - 21 years ago
The link I have on my compilation page works (it's different I believe from what you have posted); I used it to listen to the aftermatch of the Yale-ND fight.by jason - Hockey
Re: Links to free audio broadcasts by Cornell's opponents - 21 years ago
Well, I don't want to be the only one not to say something about the CornellPass situation… I am disappointed that Cornell hockey will not be available for free, not so much that I’ll have to fork out some money, but rather because it means that basically casual Cornell fans and diehard college hockey fans whose allegiances lie with other schools will miss out on listening to Cornell games. Re: See Ya Higgins - 21 years ago
Well, I'm pretty sure that Higgins is one of the (at least) two Yale players guilty of throwing punches, does anyone know who would be the other?by jason - Hockey

Re: See Ya Higgins - 21 years ago
USCHO boxscores don't show penalties so it won't be any help, but the recap is up at USCHO and says fighting majors with DQs. If the imputus were indeed fighting majors, then it has to be DQs --there's no referee discretion in such case.by jason - Hockey
Harvard vs Brown 11/2/02 - 21 years ago
Moderate upset: Brown defeated Harvard 4-0. Maybe the worse thing about the game: according to the announcers, the Brown fans were given thunder sticks (those plastic tubes that fans at the World Series had). Two things: (a) I'm pretty sure they violate NCAA rules and (b) it's a sad substitute for geniune fan involvement. If CU athletics were to hand them out in Lynah, I'd probably walk out anby jason - Hockey
Re: See Ya Higgins - 21 years ago
Yikes! Now its 5-1, I think the three 3rd period goals for N. Dak were all in the span of minute or so. 4 DQ? I may have misheard (I thought the announcer said 3) since I'm watching some college football on tv with the Yale game in the background.by jason - Hockey
Re: See Ya Higgins - 21 years ago
I'm listening to the game online and although it took them some time, the Yale announcers have "confirmed" that Higgins and two others (missed the names, but one was described as their "top defender" will be out for the next game. Apparently Higgins dropped the gloves --the granddaddy of no-no's in college hockey. N. Dak has exploded in the 3rd, getting two goals in about thby jason - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Ohio State, November 1 - 21 years ago
For those who don't visit the USCHO bulletin board, here are some interesting excerpts from posts by Ohio State fans: "Congrats to the Big Red on their win, and it was great to see all the Cornell fans who made the trek. I would bet there were nearly as many of them as there were Buckeye fans." "For last nights game. OSU played pretty good but they were put physically to theby jason - Hockey
Re: Everblades Tourney - 21 years ago
That begs the question: How come there are these 3 permanent teams and one wild card? Did these 3 agree to a multiyear commitment or have they simply been asked each year and have said yes each time?by jason - Hockey

Everblades Tourney - 21 years ago
My understanding is that this tournament is principally the result of a Cornell alum who has some affiliation with the arena or monip pro team that plays there (something like that, I probably have that all wrong). So, in a sense this is Cornell's tourney --they should seemingly have more pull with the organizers than the other schools. So how come Cornell ends up with the toughest matchup in theby jason - Hockey
Links to free audio broadcasts by Cornell's opponents - 21 years ago
Ok, hopefully the info contained in the above is correct, but I can't make any promises. Amazingly, all but 2 (or 3, depending on how the Everblades Tourney unfolds) games could be available free. Feel free to let me know of any errors you discover. Re: WOSU link - 21 years ago
It'll be interesting to see just how many games will be available from opponents' feeds. But, I assume it won't be possible to catch every Cornell game in a given month this way, so I'm just going to concede defeat and pay the price (although I may reduce my future donations as a sign of my displeasure). Are other's really not going to bite the bullet and pay for the Pass? Additionally, I don't tby jason - Hockey
donation to Cornell athletics vs Cornell Hockey Assoc. membership - 21 years ago
This is actually a question prompted by the conversation in the "What do you want more of from eLynah" thread, but since it has drifted from that topic, I thought it better to ask in a new thread. I've been making it a habit the last few years to contribute $50-$100 to the athletics dept. with the money designated for men's ice hockey (each of the last few years I've gotten a call frby jason - Hockey

Re: Stampede Result Switched to Tie - 21 years ago
Very interesting. This got me thinking. My recollection was that Cornell had been through a similar episode at the Syracuse Invitational some years back (yes, I attended not one, but two Syr Inv tourneys --what a depressing event) because I recalled explaining (erroneously) to some one why they had used a 5 min 1st OT before going to 20 min OT periods. Turns out it was a 1996 game against Provideby jason - Hockey

Re: tix for BU - 21 years ago
I bought a few tickets through the Cornell ticket office, but they are general admission --the ticket office decided that there would be some opens seats due to students being away for break. I'm not jazzed about not having assigned seats, but at least I'll be able to get in the door. Maybe they still have general admission tickets available. EDIT: Just noticed on USCHO.com that BU lost to Merby jason - Hockey
Re: The Red and White Game - 21 years ago
D'oh! Reading your message again I can see that you weren't saying that in complete seriousness. That's what I get for reading and posting at 1am after a few nights of limited sleep (due to our newborn baby girl). Also, my statement about Cornell only using the traditional numbers is based on my own (limited) recollection. Does anyone recall a player wearing a number outside of the typical 1-31by jason - Hockey
Re: The Red and White Game - 21 years ago
I believe the team has historically tolerated only the "traditional" spectrum of jersey (or sweater, if you like) numbers (i.e., 1-31, no 13), of which 1, 30 and 31 are the acknowledged goalie numbers . With 3 goalies taking the ice, someone had to take Undy's number, (the 1, 30 and 31 jerseys are often the only ones in a size suitable for goalie equipment).by jason - Hockey
Re: #7 in Hockey According to SI - 21 years ago
Very annoying, I've checked SIs on the NY and NJ newsstands and none have this college hockey preview, was it only in copies mailed to subsribers?by jason - Hockey
