Victories at Lynah - 20 years ago
The following factoid was posted on USCHO in a thread about the RPI-PC game which probably many Cornell fans didn't read. I figured that someone here would know if it is true or not. Nathan Marsters (RPI) is the only active ECAC goalie, indeed the only active college goalie, to have won a game at Lynah. Obviously, unless there are a lot of ties this year, this will soon change, but is it currentlby ursusminor - Hockey

If anyone does buy this package, be sure to root for RPI on 2/13.by ursusminor - Hockey

Someone once posted this link for Cornell College: . It seemed humorous at the time.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: OT: US News College Rankings - 20 years ago
You folks are concerned about nothing. RPI seems thrilled about being #29: . I don't know if this is the same list.by ursusminor - Hockey

A thread on the BCHL board about O'Byrne. It starts with an article that was already posted here and then a couple of people comment on his decision to attend Cornell.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Clarkson saga over? (and SLU/RPI) - 20 years ago
Greg, I was thinking myself as to how many signatures it would take to have an effect. I don't think that it would take 300,000+, but I do think that it would have to be in six figures which this petition is unlikely to reach. Better would be if the Admins of the eight affected schools started doing a lot of arm twisting.by ursusminor - Hockey

I doubt that they would go to D-I -- perhaps D-II. Please show your support: Post Edited (08-11-03 06:45)by ursusminor - Hockey

Cornell has indeed signed McKee:by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Leneveu signs with Phoenix? - 20 years ago
McKee has signed (or whatever the proper verb is) with the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL for next year. That will put him a bit more than 15 miles from you. Greg, David McKee is a goalie from Texas who was being recruited by Cornell according to a few sources. One is the link that I posted above. Another is a message that NCAA Watcher posted on USCHO. That article was just one person's opinion. If he is released, however, he will probably be able to sign with an ECHL team.by ursusminor - Hockey

So that was it, Threadgold was on the Cornell payroll. IMHO,Threadgold was by the far the worst ref of his era. He was definitely persona non grata in Troy.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Lethal Weapon - 21 years ago
BRA, This is the same Vernon Morning Star that described the 1200 SAT score of an RPI recruit a year ago as "sparkling", so I wouldn't try to dig too deeply into the meaning of "on scholarship". These local newpapers in small towns in Canada (or the US, for that matter) are good for getting information on recruits, but have to be taken with a grain of salt. Greg, It's "by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Midget - 21 years ago
According to various newpaper articles which I have read, Juneau originally lived in the Troy area with a French-Canadian expatriate family in order to learn English. Despite that, he started off poorly academically at RPI due to not being able to understand lectures. This was apparently quickly remedied.by ursusminor - Hockey
Re: Midget - 21 years ago
Yes, Juneau did complete his degree in three years and did grad work as a Senior. However, he also had some advanced placement credit due to the Quebec school system having a 13th grade (or something like that).Rich Hovorka '96 wrote: The most impressive thing about Juneau to me was that he completed an aeronautical engineering degree at RPI in 3 years. Re: Blaeser/Moy - Perfection or Monkeys got lucky? - 21 years ago
Josh, It could be the RPI education. Jayson and I had an email exchange some time ago in which he insisted that Stuyvesant has always been a better rated school than BHSS. Stuyvesant certainly appears to take more awards these days than BHSS, but this wasn't the case in the 1960's. BHSS suffered from the fact that the Bronx, its main source of students, became a war zone. I was one of 44 sby ursusminor - Hockey

Re: 2003-4 Schedule - 21 years ago
CowbellGuy, It could be correct as stands, but history shows that very rarely are both pairs of games in the same order. Furthermore, although the games with RPI are on the same weekends on the RPI schedule which I received in confidence about a month ago, both RPI-Cornell games are listed there on Saturday, not Friday, because that schedule also lists the pairs in alphabetical order, and Corneby ursusminor - Hockey
