Since there isn't one, and I figured there ought to be...here it is.

Plug for something I wrote about the line combinations this weekend. Feel free to ignore or to criticize.

I agree with keeping the second line together (Campbell, White, Karpenko). I don't think we'll see cook at center. I think she's more likely to play defense if Paulson is not yet ready to play. I would probably try to get Fulton and Saulnier on the same line.

It looks like Cornell will be down 6 players for the early January series against RPI and Union. Not sure if they'll be available for the January 2 game against St. Lawrence.

The Athletics website says the tournament is January 3-8, so I can't imagine they'd play against St. Lawrence.

Jenner had an assist in Canada's 5-0 Four Nations Cup win over Finland today.

It'll be interesting to see if we drop in the rankings after this weekend. I was very impressed by the way the team performed, in difficult circumstances against two quality opponents.

Meanwhile, in Sweden, five Cornellians (Laura Fortino, Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnston, Lauriane Rougeau and assistant coach Doug Derraugh) earned silver medals with Canada in the Four Nations. Canada swept the round-robin against Finland, the USA and Sweden, but lost to the USA in a shootout after the gold-medal game ended in a 3-3 tie. None of the Cornellians figured much in the scoring; Johnston and Jenner each had an assist in Canada's 5-0 win over Finland last Wednesday, and Fortino had an assist and a hooking minor in their 3-1 win over Sweden on Saturday.

Anyone know what to expect from Princeton/Quinn on the women's side now that the four Sweden girls are back? Should it be back to 9-0 blowouts?

I hope so. With that said, Princeton and Quinnipiac should both be better than most of the competition we faced to date with the exceptions of Dartmouth and Harvard. However, I think it's quite possible that Cornell would have scored 9 goals against both Harvard and Dartmouth with the full team on the ice. The biggest issue against Dartmouth was a fair amount of confusion in Cornell's defensive end, which is understandable given who was missing.

3-1 final over Princeton with a last-minute ENG. Shots 39-18 Cornell, but goals were hard to come by.

They had 4 PP chances including a 5x3 right at the start. The PK was perfect, but we can't give up that many penalties against better teams like BU.

Wisconsin beat RPI 8-2, BU beat UConn 4-2, and Mercyhurst (who we visit for two games the weekend after next) got another big win over Yale, winning 6-2.

We're dressing four full lines I think for the first time this season, but they're a bit different.

First line: Fulton-White-Karpenko

Second line: Campbell-Jenner-Leck

Third line: Johnston-Barley-Maloney-Saulnier

Fourth line: Hompe-Ogilvie-Cook

Six minutes in and we look pretty good so far. Shots 6-1 CU.

1-0 Red end of the first, shots 13-5 in favor of CU. Looking good, although BU improved a bit briefly after going a goal down. Several good chances, some good saves from Sperry, but we could be ahead by more. Mazz looks solid -- she had one acrobatic glove save at 0-0.

After 2 periods, cornell leads 2-1. The big story right now is the physicality and bad refereeing. A secondary story is cornell not capitalizing on its chances, and they've had plenty of good ones. Having watched almost all of their games this year so far, this is their most passionate effort. In the first period, BU was able to match our speed for the most part, but it's evident that many of their players have slowed down at this stage. Advantage: Cornell, but it's too close for comfort.

3-1 Final. Big win after some dubious refereeing. Wakefield, BU's captain, spent 8 minutes in the box. Very good performance in spite of some shakiness on the PP.

I may miss out on tomorrow's game due to the Cornell Club of London's Thanksgiving posh-ness. Hopefully not.

I watched the replay this morning. They were very impressive (as they almost always are). Between this weekend's games and next weekend's visit to Erie for two against Mercyhurst, we should have a much better idea of how good the team is relative to the rest of the country...except the WCHA. I've said it before, but we need to get games against Wisconsin, Minnesota, or North Dakota in our non-conference schedule in the next few years.

Mercyhurst is good, but IMHO BU has a deeper roster and more overall talent. If Cornell comes out strong, Cornell should win both games by a couple goals or more.

Dartmouth will face Providence at Fenway on January 10. I'd like to see what kind of attendance they get for this game.

About the same as the Harvard/Union men's game on Jan. 13 @ Fenway I'd guess.

Per @CornellSports, same line combinations as last week. Slebodnick in goal, Mazz backing up.

Looks like the starting lineup is: Saulnier, White, Johnston, Fortino, Rougeau.

Even though I didn't see it (no video feed available), I'm sure that was a heck of a game last night. 1-0 down inside a minute, 2-0 down inside seven...they/we came back and won 5-4. Goals from White, Johnston, Karps (2), and Fortino. Tonight's game is the team's last until the scrimmage against St. Lawrence in Akwesasne on January 2.

Elsewhere, Q took over top spot in the ECAC by beating Brown 3-0 (we have two games in hand on them), Clarkson put up ten against RPI, #1 Wisconsin won (big surprise), and #2 Minnesota knocked off #5 UND 7-2.

What a great win for this team last night. They're never down so it was great to see them come from behind.

CBR story at the end says the game is going to be audio today on redcast, so that should be interesting. still sucks to have to pay for Mercyhurst video, but we'll see if this Big Red audio is any good. Any idea who is on the call?

I was looking for Mercyhurst video and couldn't find any. They only stream basketball from what I could find.

America One carries Mercyhurst women's hockey. It took me awhile to find it yesterday but I watched the game.

I just tried to find a link to the game tonight and could not do it even though I know that it is being broadcast. If anyone can solve this riddle, please share

I had to download their special video player. It's working for me now.

1-0, Karpenko PPG from White and Cudmore at 16:09 in the first.

I came in late, but our faceoffs this series were terrible. That had to be a major hindrance.

You won't win many when you give up four unanswered.

Long break to think about this game before they hit the ice again. 10-2 isn't too bad.

Makes sense. Didn't expect anything different. Team probably happy with almost a full month off right now. Some time to rest before the rest of the season's not-so-challenging schedule. At the halfway point, only Mercyhurst coming to Ithaca is a tough game the rest of the way.

I'd say visiting Dartmouth and Sucks will be challenging as well.

Agreed. And while Harvard and Dartmouth are good teams, they are not great teams. I don't think we'll go far into the NCAA touranment, if we judge how well we need to play based on those games.

Dartmouth and Harvard -- based on the results in Lynah -- should be easier games this time around with the foursome of Rougeau, Fortino, Johnston and Jenner back. Can't see either of those games as a loss right now even if they are on the road. Quinnipiac, remember, was also considered a top team in the league and we killed them 7-1 in Camden Hamden.

Interesting discussion about the NCAA women's teams at "mid-season". They start by talking about the worst teams in the NCAA.

Anyone else get to see the domination at Union today? Minus six players and after a monthlong layoff, this team looks pretty good. Players like Hompe, Ogilvie and Barley-Maloney got in on the action. Union's not great by any stretch, but still pretty encouraging. RPI should be tougher tomorrow.

It's a good way to re-start after the long layoff, but Union was the worst team in the ECAC last year.

A couple of notes:
-Last night was Coach Derraugh's 100th win behind the Cornell bench
-Kaitlyn Pippy got on the ice for the last ten minutes, made three saves and allowed no goals in her first collegiate appearance
-Barley-Maloney scored her first goal for the Red
-Dartmouth knocked off Q 3-2 and Princeton beat Harvard 3-0 -- good for us in the ECAC, mixed news for the Pairwise (Harvard and Dartmouth were both TUCs coming into this week)
-Wisconsin and Minnesota tied 3-3 after OT, BC beat Clarkson 3-2, and Mercyhurst won 8-4 at Syracuse

In Troy up 3-0 going into the third. They locked down RPI in the second. Only 6 + goalie on the bench for .Cornell

I met Jim Knowlton, the RPI AD, during the third period in Troy. He was impressed that the women were so strong with the short bench. He is a classy guy.

I was impressed as well. We sat right behind the bench and you could see the ladies coming off the ice were gassed in the 3rd period. I knew they were missing players but did not expect that short of a bench. Great job this weekend!

Starting vs. Colgate:

Saulnier, White, Johnston, Fortino, Rougeau, Slebodnick

2nd line: Campbell, Jenner, Karpenko

3rd: Fulton, Ogilvie, B-M

4th: Cook, Hompe, Leck

Young is listed with Gagliardi in the d-pairings.

Coach Derraugh just keeps mixing things up.
