Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: ECAC First Round - 4 months ago
stereax If they make us sit through all that, am I legally allowed to spend the night in the pews of the rink? Plenty of us here have done that more than once. (To be able to buy the most desirable season tickets.)by andyw2100 - Hockey

Jim Hyla pjd8 Cornell was robbed of at title in 2020, and sat out 2021. Thanks for bringing us back to 2020. At the end of the year we were projected as a FF team. I wonder how all of this negative discussion would have been if we'd won the ECACs and got to the FF? It wasn't guaranteed, but was reasonable. I think you may actually be understating this a hair, Jim. Unless my memoryby andyw2100 - Hockey

Give My Regards andyw2100 Is it only regulation wins that count in the tiebreaker? I'm guessing it must be because you say that Cornell, currently with 9, would catch Union, currently with 11, even though Union would be picking up the shootout win. Regulation and overtime wins. Shootout results are not considered in the tiebreaker. andyw2100 Also I'm wondering about the 9 regulation wins foby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Cornell could finish... - 4 months ago
That screenshot from USCHO shows a record of 9-7-4 for 22 points, so that's 2 points for a win and one point for a tie, which as we know is not how the ECAC is computing standings these days.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Also I'm wondering about the 9 regulation wins for Cornell. CHN shows 8, and the points totals support that. Cornell 8-7-4-1, for 33. Union 11-7-2-0 for 37. What amby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: ECAC 2025 - 4 months ago
BearLover Dartmouth is on the road this weekend against Yale and Brown. My understanding is that if Dartmouth gets 4+ points, they win the Ivy outright. If they get 3 points, Cornell and Dartmouth tie for the Ivy. If they get 2 or fewer points, Cornell wins the Ivy outright. I'd be perfectly happy with two Cornell wins, an RPI over Colgate win or a Colgate over Union win, and Dartmouth gettingby andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: To The Band - 5 months ago
VIEWfromK andyw2100 I --WAS-- surprised that the band did not play the theme from "Love Story" at the Harvard game this year. I swear that I heard it once at a random time during that game Hmmmm...I guess I could have missed it. Better if I missed it than having the band have missed playing it.by andyw2100 - Hockey

CUlater 89 I love seeing/hearing the Pep Band at away games and donate to help them get there. One way the band might contribute beyond just music would be to tap its alumni (or archives/database, if they have one) and learn more about the history of songs and cheers at Lynah, to renew some of the traditions that have slipped away or changed for the worse. There was a time when the band startby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2025-02-01 at Clarkson - 5 months ago
stereax BearLover Trotsky 2 point weekend. I'll take it. Not a good result for getting the bye particularly because Clarkson also got a point. Bud, at this point I think we're all kinda in the understanding that we're probably not getting a bye and it is what it is. If we do, swell, but it's not terribly likely. I wouldn't say that. (I am an optimist.) The teams tied for third ahead of us aby andyw2100 - Hockey

Iceberg The record mentioned was 400-89-56. I think it was all time, too, and not just under Schafer Was going to say the same about 400-89-56. But they did say that was during Schafer's tenure.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. St. Lawrence 1/31 - 5 months ago
andyw2100 I thought there was a rule preventing players from carrying two sticks. The St. Lawrence player was definitely carrying two sticks when he retrieved the goalie's stick from behind the net. Found the rule: 10.6 Additional sticks - A player or goalkeeper shall not participate in play while in possession of more than one stick, except that a penalty shall not be assessed to a player wby andyw2100 - Hockey

stereax But that's nine players of ours out. Jesus. Did all of them get suspended??? Sounds like the only player suspension we didn't know about before game time was DeSantis, which many expected based on video. Others are injuries.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Dafatone and we scored a goal just after a power play once. Twice. DeSantis both times. Five seconds and three seconds after the penalties expired, respectively.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Harvard Big Red Boulevard - 5 months ago
upprdeck they needed about double the space to make it enjoyable for what little there was to do there. They definitely did need more space. And also more time, which would have helped the space issue. If they do this again, they really should open at 5:30 or even at 5:00.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Lake Placid was great again this year, and I am glad it is our tournament home. Anne and I have seen us win 7 ECAC titles now. LGR! I've seen 7 wins, too. I missed 1986, but saw 1980. Seven for me too. (Same seven as Greg.) But can any of you say you've seen Cornell win the title with three different wives? On the road to Lake Placid with Kim. Wondering how others feel about rooting interest in the SLU vs. Quinnipiac game. Personally I'm rooting for SLU, because I think Cornell has a greater chance of beating them should we beat Dartmouth and make the finals. (And because Quinnipiac is high on my list of teams to dislike.) But I expect some here will be rooting for Quinnipiac, with the logic being tby andyw2100 - Hockey

fastforward andyw2100 Jim Hyla CORNELL SECTION TICKETS HERE. I just tried the password CORNELL24 and it worked, the section opened. Happy searching. Any one have any idea what may be going on in rows G, H, I in Section 11? Those seats are blocked. They aren't blocked for the band, supposedly, because the band is supposed to be in Section 12. pmbblblaw will we be able to get tix online? If so, at what website? Cornell ticket office or Brooks Arena? will the entire section be available? is it general admission or assigned seating? thanks. Last year as soon as the game ended a code was available (possibly on the scoreboard, but definitely, at a minimum, at the ticket office) that allowed us to purchase online, in the Cornell section,by andyw2100 - Hockey

Trotsky Beeeej Incidentally, this particular combination of four teams has never before been in the ECAC semis, Lake Placid or not.
