Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Opponents and Others 2023-24 - 1 year ago
Trotsky You may have heard about an Ohio State player who speared a Minnesota player on the bench last night. Here is the same piece of shit in a USHL game 2 years ago with a friend of ours. Also a fine example of derp announcing. Here's video of last night's spearing: Terrible quality but here pic.twitter.com/grvCNZJoaZ— Ri〽️ Brock Faber Defender (@brodshockey) January 21, 2024 ?t=Wby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Quinnipiac, 1/20 - 1 year ago
Iceberg ugarte the pp that got cut short by the Fegaras interference penalty was a blitzkrieg. more of that, please. That was one of the scummiest attempts to draw a penalty I've seen. The Q player clearly backed into him and them embellished so well that he could've gotten an Oscar nomination. Thankfully it didn't result in anything And came off the ice openly laughing about it!by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: CU-BU 2023 - 1 year ago
BearLover I meant televised on actual TV. The games on ESPN+ tend to have one commercial timeout per period. Games on actual TV tend to have three commercial timeouts per period (at least pro games and college games in the NCAA tournament). Tonight’s game had three per period. Speaking about the ads, why were there no Cornell ads? In the past, the school ads were split evenly between both schooby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Jack O’Leary mic’d up at morning skate - 1 year ago
billhoward I'd like to hear the Lynah audience mic'd up next time Jack O'Leary is in the penalty box and the crowd chants "Free O'Leary." This doesn't bother you? I mean there have been some stupid chants over the years, but cheering for the opposing team to score is pretty high on the stupid list for me.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Fish N Fowl 11/11/23 - 1 year ago
abmarks ER A bunch of people still do the throwing of the newspaper before game play and they didn’t seem to mind that. Correct. But the fish are way harder to clean up and dangerous etc. Clearing newspapers has been mastered for speed and efficacy; guts n eyeballs not so much. I think though the administration can't say it, they're actually fine with the fish too. Fish when Harvard firstby andyw2100 - Hockey

ugarte Says Military Appreciation night. Are we getting camo jerseys tonight or just a salute to a guy who served in Korea and has voted against every winning Ithaca mayoral candidate in the last 25 elections? Season ticket holders were encouraged to "return" tickets that we would not be using and Cornell would then distribute these tickets to campus veterans.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey Jerseys? - 1 year ago
underskill jtwcornell91 RichH ugarte Trotsky The replica jerseys aren't great unfortunately.no need to be so harsh this looks pretty sharp for a youth jersey Maybe better than the real thing these days, as this replica has the lower stripe historically correct. The roads the team has been wearing are now just Red Wing blanks with the white going all the way to the bottom hem. It's just wrong.by andyw2100 - Hockey

marty andyw2100 andyw2100 And the two service dogs. Don't forget the service dogs. Was anyone else worried for the dogs' welfare, being so close to the band? I googled it, and anything above 85 decibels can damage a dog's hearing. In Section M the band was regularly at 87- 89 decibels pregame, according to an app on my phone. I have to think in Section A they would be significantly louder.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: ECAC 2024 Discussion Thread - 1 year ago
ugarte Trotsky The Harvard-Dartmouth shootout was hilarious. did they confiscate their sticks? 18 guys shot for each team. They each had at most 19 non-goalies dressed. What happens if all the non-goalies had shot? Do they start over...take the pads off a goalie? Seriously...what's the rule?by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
Dunc Trotsky There are wonderful things from the 80s and 90s I miss, just as there are from the 60s and 70s the dirty hippies among us miss. This may be better for a different thread, but here is probably fine too Not necessarily for revival purposes, but more for my own curiosity, what are some of peoples fav traditions from 60s-90s that died off over time A couple that I enjoyed thatby andyw2100 - Hockey

arugula In 1986 my apartment mate and I watched Letterman then hopped in his Honda and drove all night to Newark and hopped on a Peoples Express flight to Dallas. Barely made our connection to Denver. Went to the the chapter of his fraternity (can’t recall which one) at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden. So when did cutting up hockey nets after a championship become a thing? I was pretty surprised when Colgate took scissors to the net they defended twice and started hacking away.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: "When The Red Come Skating In" - 1 year ago
marty David Harding It's certainly true that the band is not allowed to play while the puck is in action, but there is no restriction on vocalizing within limits of decency. But if the band was told to make sure they finish early enough that there is no acapela singing, that just sucks. If the band was told this it was what...three or four years ago, at least, right? Re: 2023 ECAC Post Season - 1 year ago
BearLover So I get criticized for rooting against our conference rivals in the NCAA tournament, yet there are people on here actively rooting for outcomes that would cost us a bid in the NCAA tournament. Damn… If it came down to us being out if Colgate wins, that would almost certainly have me rooting differently. But that's not the situation. Plus we have a 99.7% chance of getting in, so wby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2023 ECAC Post Season - 1 year ago
djk26 Ugh--so this weekend is the double torture of losing to Harvard--and then having to root for them in the next game. Root for them to tie us in number of ECAC titles? Sorry-can't do it. I'll be there rooting for Colgate and hoping that BU or Saint Cloud get it done.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2023 ECAC Post Season - 1 year ago
kingpin248 andyw2100When was the last time the ECAC had four teams in the tourney? Four years ago; Cornell and Quinnipiac lost in the second round, Harvard and Clarkson in the first. Thanks!by andyw2100 - Hockey

HeafDog jfeath17 FYI from Cornell ticket site: “Cornell fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in Section 3 - which can be accessed by visiting the Lake Placid Olympic Center ticketing site, clicking the lock icon on the top of the screen and entering the access code ‘CORNELL23’” You also save $10 using the code. nshapiro BearLover upprdeck If colgate were to win and the other bid stealers fall short the ECAC could get 4.. But why play with fire; First goal is get Cornell in. Let’s go Q! I'll roll the dice and bet some other bid stealers fail. I'm rooting for an upstate NY ECAC final. This! sah67 shafer Scersk '97 ... Give me a big brick any day. Like that Scrivens kid. For me Scrivens is the best Cornell goalie in the past 20 years. He certainly knew how to have some fun in goal too. How did I know, before clicking on the link, that that's what it would be?by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Union @ Cornell - 2 years ago
Trotsky dag14 I am pretty sure there was a 9-0 first period v. Yale I think, under Bertrand in the Brock Tredway era. I remember because he pulled the goalie with a faceoff in the defensive zone, claiming he wanted the players to practice that play. Take a look at who was in goal for Yale...by andyw2100 - Hockey

BearLover andyw2100 BearLover Did anyone who attended the game observe how Mitchell looked as he left the ice? Did he participate in the salute? He took a puck off the lower arm while blocking a shot with under a minute to go and appeared shaken up. Mitchell went through the handshake line with his right hand gloved and at his side, using his left hand to "shake", fist-bump, etc. Defiby andyw2100 - Hockey
