For those who were not listening in tonight, Kevin McLeod is back with the team and local product Matt Hedge has also been called up from the club team.  Both will be playing defense.  Someone else has also suppossedly been called up but I don't know who it is.  Certainly an interesting development but I think it means that no forwards will be moving back.  This gives the team nine defensemen although one is out for a couple months with an injury.

Who is out with an injury?  The third call-up?  Or someone else?

Our plan to eventually take over the whole team is progressing nicely.  Now all we need is a Schafer lookalike.

Just curious.  Has Schafer called up club team members before in his tenure?

USCHO lists McLeod as being a sophomore in 2004-05.  Does that mean he's a senior on the team now?  (In other words, did he spend last year in school here at Cornell?)
Is next year here yet?

Yeah, he was here last year.  He's a senior.

I'm sure he has, but my time is short to really dig and find anything.  There used to be a more formal JV team.  Sam Paolini made the team as a non-recruited "walk-on."

Then of course, Schafer has also been known to bring in a player from the soccer team in an emergency.  :-D

FWIW...It was McLeod (and Fontas) who brought the away jerseys up to Hamilton last year.

Does Nate Hicks count?
There used to be a more formal JV team.
As a brief benchwarming goalie for the Cornell JV, I can tell you that the JV team was disbanded over Xmas break my senior year (Xmas '94), the season before Schafer became coach. I've never heard that it was revived since then, so I'd say there never was a JV from which Schafer could have plucked players.  As for JV players getting the "call up" during my time, It didn't happen as far as I recall (although the starting JV goalie would sometimes practice with the varsity). P.C. Druin did skate with us on occasion while he was nursing an injury(?). That guy had a rocket shot from the blue line.
