So after last night it appears that only Brown--other than the Big Red--can still match the great '69-'70 team's remarkable record.  Grillo's guys can even go one better:  unbeaten, untied, and unscored-upon.;-)

Looks like you jinxed them, Al.  After giving up two goals to Dartmouth, Danis's GAA has shot up to an astronomical 0.67.

If it were Clarkson Morris would bench him.  Or slug him...

Uhoh. ::uhoh::

[Edit:  The little "uhoh" face no longer appears in this post, and it did until just now.  Is it just me...?  Has "uhoh" been banished?]

Dude, that's a post-game bar joke, not a forum joke. :-P

I think poking fun at Morris is fair game for a little while.  Why don't we just refer to Morris as Coach Knight? The double-meaning works for me.

I have a question about our 29-0-0 season. How close were we to tying Brown in the regular season game on Dec. 6, 1969? That is, what time was the GWG scored? (We won it 5-4 in OT)

Also, what was the closest we were to losing that year? Was there a game in which we had to score an EAG or have a big third period comeback or something?

Just curious :-P

Just curious?  Or insecure about all of the Buckeyes' close calls on the gridiron the last two years on the eve of the Michigan game? ::scared::

Well, there was that one game vs. Clarkson we played in Lake Placid.  Dan Lodboa had to score a natural hat-trick in the 3rd to win 6-4.  It was the last win of the season.

This probably doesn't help answer your question precisely, but it's a good read:

haha....that too :-) ....

Well, to answer my own question, I found the box score on TBRW to that game against Brown.  Down 4-3 in the third, we tied it at 7:55 and then Lodboa scored the game winner only 34 seconds into overtime.

I thought that the game the John Hughes had to score the same goal twice (after it was called back for offsides the first time) was very close to a loss.

Am I correct?
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Ed Ambis tied that game in the second period.  The Hughes goal, scored in the last minute of the third period, was the game-winner.  But, I suppose, any game that gets into the last minute tied can be taken as "close to a loss."

certainly "close to a blemish" anyway...

It was the ECAC championship game, so it was gonna be either a win or a loss...eventually.:-)
