Excellent all- around effort minus a few seconds when McKee was left out to dry and lost the shutout.  Colgate 0-5 on the PP.  Good passing and fore-checking by the Red.  Smothering defense for most of the game, and all w/out O'Byrne and Pokoluk.  Great patience and pass from Scott on Sawada's 2nd goal.  Let's hope Pokoluk's injury isn't serious.  Didn't skate after being injured in the 2nd and didn't return to the ice for the 3rd.  Anyone at the game see what happened?  It looked from the web feed like he just lost an edge in the corner and then was very slow getting up.

Big time game tomorrow!  LGR!!!!!

Did anyone else notice how much Burton played for 'gate? He was out pretty much every other shift, I wouldn't be surprised if his minutes were approaching 30. However, he produced almost nothing while he was out there. The only good thing I saw him do was have a nice feed to the guy in front on 'gate's pp in the end of the third. We did a great job of shutting him down. Cornell played great, the only really bad thing coming out of this game was Pokulok going down and the fact that we lost the shutout late. The Cornell goal that was waved off was pretty bs. The puck was in the air the entire time so I see no reason that the ref would have blown the whistle. I guess it didn't make a difference in the end.

Sasha lost an edge in the corner and slid in feet first. Unfortunately, one of his legs got caught behind him and bent awkwardly. He did get up and skate around and didn't go straight to the bench, but was absent for the whole third period.

Great game tonight otherwise, easily the best second period the guys have played all year. I all honesty, 'Gate had only a handful of real scoring chances all night. Cornell did a great job at keeping that offense in check.

Our intensity definitely met the challenge of a good (but overrated...) Colgate team. I felt that our guys were chasing every lose puck, and having some bounces go our way didn't hurt. Amazing 5 on 3 kill at the end 1st/start 2nd.  Let's bring the same tommorrow to Starr, but I expect Colgate will make some adjustments and also have their home advantage.  Too bad it's sold out or I'd be there.  LGR!!!

Finally, I can safely say that we dominated that game.

That wasn't just a win, it was a convincing win.

The 1st period, we seemed to be pretty even on most fronts and I thought that the first goal scored would be the only goal. Then we just came out super aggressive in the second period and dominated from there on out.

The only downside, beside Pokulok's injury, was the penalty minutes. Seminoff had 2 or 3 this game -- and that 5 on 3 almost gave me a heart attack.

But, all in all, great game. That's how I expect us to play every night...and McKee finally returned to his form of last year.

Sawada has been very, very impressive the past few weeks. Scoring a lot of clutch goals and hitting everything in sight. He has really shown why the Dallas Stars chose him in the second round of the 2004 NHL draft.

Hey, and props to Salmela.

Watching the replay in the booth, that was a gorgeous goal.

What happened to the video in the beginning of the game?  Did you read the thread?  You were very helpful in discussing your camera work recently.  I hope you can pass on the word about the video problems with the hockey game while right next door, the basketball was apparently flawless.

You know what it was...or some of it, at least. The booth was a bit crowded and someone hit the cable.

Sorry I didn't notice until the 2nd period. I replugged it back in, and it should have been fine from there.

As far as any other problem, it must have be CSTV. Maybe their bandwidth was crowded with so many games?  I really don't know...

Thanks for the info.  I am sure that I am not the only one who appreciates knowing what is going on.  The problems are still frustrating, but it is a lot better to know than just getting pissed-off from speculating.

Colgate dresses seven D-men and eleven forwards.  I read somewhere that Burton double-shifts, playing on two different lines.

In the beginning of the game?!

The entire game was on-and-off choppy.  It would be fine for a minute or two at a time, and virtually unwatchable for a minute or two at a time.

If it were free, I'd be willing to give them a pass and bitch to AD... but we're paying CSTV, so we expect the basics of quality (stream watchability, in particular) to be addressed no matter whether it's CSTV's fault or Cornell's fault.  I honestly don't care: just fix it!

Anyway Trustnduzt, I know this isn't your fault, but if you could pass the dissatisfaction with the quality issues along to CSTV and to whoever maintains the hardware on Cornell's end, that would be great.  I would check the obvious things first: make sure there aren't rogue processes on the encoder consuming too much CPU or network bandwidth, and make sure the ethernet connection from the server to the rest of the campus network isn't flawed.

Cheers,
Kyle

I hear ya. I'd be pissed as well. I don't really understand that problems over at CSTV and can't really think of what else it could be.

However, I hope the video looked better tonight after all your suggestions -- they were duely noted!

They use Akamai to serve their streams, so it's safe to say that bandwidth on CSTV's part wasn't the issue.  I can almost guarantee the problem was at the source.

I did mention the problems from last week to one of the Cornell guys -- hopefully it'll get passed on.

It may also be the new system that they installed for the web cast as well...though that really shouldn't be messing it up.
