Jerseys?

Well, Age makes a good point.  If you buy last year's #9 and slap a "Svoboda" on the back and then walk around telling everyone you've got Dan's jersey (!), is it fair to the person who actually owns the jersey that Svoboda actually played in?  Dude, that's Paul Varteressian's jersey.

are most of you all planning on wearing the jerseys?  Dont all start throwing rocks at me at once, but I plan on getting the team to sign the front of it and then having it framed, or just hung up in my room.  I probably wont get the name plate for Chabot, since i'd rather have the front displayed showing Cornell instead of the back with the # and name.

Since I've already given my opinion (read: spoken out of my ass) on several issues today, I figure, why stop now?

Personally?  Boo.  I think you should wear it, and as much as possible.  It's too valuable a commodity to hang on a wall all year, and as I indicated above it's a nice bit for consciousness-raising.  Even if it's signed, you can still wear it: several people in fact do this.

You can always put it back on the wall (aside: I prefer to hang it in a window, but then again, I don't have a homeowner's association in my neighborhood) when you get home after wearing it, but you'd probably need to display it in something more accessible than a frame to make this practical.

Certainly, once you buy it, you are entitled to do whatever you'd like with it, whether that's wearing it, framing it, or using it as a diaper; but I think the greatest utility to the Cornell hockey community comes by virtue of the first option.

The only caveat I'd add is that when you do wear it, you should, if at all possible, avoid acting like a jackass.  I'm not accusing you or anyone else here (moi?) of that, but we want to project a positive view of the program, right? :)  This is why I have mixed feelings about wearing it while playing hockey (given my skill/lack thereof, sort of the sanitary equivalent of using it as a diaper), but I just can't bring myself to stop.

Cheers,
Kyle

(Two years ago?). I have Travis Bell's jersey, though I bought it because it was Dan Ratushny's number. I feel like it would be a slap in the face to Bell to put Ratushny's name on the back, so I'm not getting a nameplate at all.

What does it matter what "most of you" are doing?  You paid for it, right?  If you want to frame it and display it, by all means, do it.  Kyle wears his gamer to play hockey in.  A lot of people wear them in the stands.  Some have them signed by one or more players.  Hell, you can cut yours up into little swatches, if you want.

But I swear, if anyone seriously asks "how do I wash all these stick and puck marks off?" like they did last year, I'm going to shove that person in a crate and ship them to Koronis's headquarters.

is this really an issue for which we need to establish fairness rules?  i guess if you sold the jersey and lied about its details (such as who donned it) then you're being unfair to the purchaser.  otherwise, who cares?  others who view you in the jersey will take it as homage to a particular player (or team).  and the wearer might cherish it beyond that, perhaps as an artifact, but he or she will know its authenticity.

I'm leaving the name off of mine so I can honor numerous players.  Underhill is the obvious recent owner, and I really respect Chabot for sticking with the program and playing well, even though he is almost never called upon.  From TBRW I found that Darren Eliot, JM Pelletier, and Paris Duffus (my time), all have worn this number as well.  Best of all, there is a picture of Dryden in which I can see #1 on his back.  :-)

My Koronis has puck marks from playing in it.  Now that I am getting a game worn, can I get the puck marks out of the Koronis?   ::laugh::

When did this year's team start wearing the swoosh sweaters?  I know that the team wore the Nike jerseys at Harvard.  Did the players wear them or last year's CCM sweaters at Yale and Brown?
