"Section O Sucks!"

Way overused.  The whole idea of this jeer was it was reserved for the rare (once or twice a year) cases in which there were visiting fans who were, well, nearly as abusive and aggressive as Traveling Faithful.  The Archtype was the RPI road crowd of the mid-80's, who could hold the unique distinction of out-cheering the Lynah crowd (the electric guitars helped) in a sort of "Houston West."  *They* deserved it.

Chanting it at a half a row of elderly MSU fans cheering right after their team scored just made Section A look dumb (insert joke here).

Agreed.  I'd much rather hear an loud, extended "Let's Go Red" chant drown out the visitors when they raise their voices.  That would make the Faithful sound much less frustrated.

I really agree here.  The section O sucks chant was used practically the whole game, and it just sounded frustrated by the end.  I'd rather be supporting our team, or even taunting the other team, not their fans.

But, as always, this sort of misplaced cheer is generally started by the sort of person who doesn't read this forum.  Somebody will suggest telling the people around you how it ought to be done, then another will dismiss that as rude/ineffective.

It's become pretty standard to chant it when the other team's fans cheer, i.e., after Cornell gives up a goal, so it seems like sour grapes.  It's almost replaced the post-goal-against "Let's Go Red" chant.

The same can also be said for "Safety School".

I agree that it seemed "Section O sucks" was overused for the MSU games.

That being said, "You will die soon" was frakkin' brilliant.
Is next year here yet?
