Don't ask me why I remember this. Monty Hall is a Jew from Winnipeg.[/q]

Well, this got me looking around...and amazingly, there is a 1973 short film called The Jews of Winnipeg. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0233978/ Anyone ever seen it? Heard of it?

I suppose if the movie is called The Jews Of Winnipeg, there must be more than one. However, the list, as far as I know, is only two names long.

Definitely Jewish, and publicly so; a product of Montreal's large English-speaking Jewish community. I doubt he's observant (gotta rumble on Shabbat), but I've read about his active participation in Jewish cultural events while he was a Blackhawk.

The Asper family, who own CanWest, who own the National Post are also from Winnipeg

Better not be.  Schafer can't stand shellfish players.

As an aside, I wonder how many people on this board are members of "The Chosen Faithful"

It looks like at least 80% of this thread!  ::rolleyes::

I like that, "The Chosen Faithful" :-}

No real reason.  It just struck me that a disproportionate number of people on e-Lynah are MOTs.

Age and Al Deflorio being two exceptions that jump to mind  :-P

And me.  But I'm a wannabe, so I'm not sure if count.

This girl's an old school Episcopalian. Although I'd say I'm one of the "chosen" Faithful. Har har.

When it comes to hockey, I pray in the house of worship on East Hill and read from the Book of Lynah... (I still love that "Rockets RED glare" opening hymn T-shirt.)

Compared to what?  Entire US population?  Yes.  Cornell undergraduate population?  Probably about the same.

Although the list isn't comprehensive, there's a story on NHL.com that talks about the Israeli Hockey Federation.

In their list of notable players, they mention everyone's favorite goalie: Sieve-Sieve. :-P
