How about "Got Fish" . . .I dunno just an idea.

I've got a smaller one hanging in my room from LP last year that simply says; ANYTHING but Crimson. Can take that.  Like the idea of making a smaller poster board sized sieve sign that we might be able to hang above Cruthers (sp? - too lazy to look up) or Grumet-Morris during the 1st and 3rd periods (like at BU) since there are no seats behind this location. As long as it is hung at the top of the glass it would be blocking no one's view. Just anouther idea. Ben, keep us informed about what coach says. Hopefully he is all for it. He should be since beating Harvard is one of his goals for the year.

Sun is filled with HARVARD is coming hockey articles today for anyone who might want to check them out (my early morning reading).  Is there anyone else out there (I'm assuming that there are many) who gets up at the crack of dawn to go to work so that on Fridays they can take off really early and make it to games before face-off (or in this case, warm-ups)?  Ahhh....what it takes to be Faithful!

"One of the greatest..."?   Certainly from a Cornell fan's perspective, but my experience from having been on the other side is that the Harvard students don't rank our "rivalry" anywhere near that with Yale or BU or BC.  Sure, when Cornell is good (or great) they love to beat us (just like anyone would love to beat a powerhouse), but back when they were dominating the series (mid-80s to mid-90s), there was little (or no) rivalry fever among the students.  Obviously, I haven't conducted a poll of the current student body, but I do know about a dozen current students who confirm.

As for the players, I can't speak to the current group, but I spoke to many of the Crimson stars from the mid-80s to mid-90s and any special feelings they had about the games with Cornell related to the fact that they loved to "stick it" to the Faithful.  They thought that although the Big Red fans were among the "best" as far as loyalty goes (and some felt that "Davy" was the best fight song in the league), they also thought the Faithful were particularly obnoxious.  But as far as "getting up" for games, they were much higher for the Yale games and the Boston-area contests.

Finally, among the coaching staff only Bill Cleary had a special place for the "rivalry", but that was mostly historical.  By the end of his career, he mostly thumbed his nose at Cornell (and nearly every other school).

Great News!!! Coach is all for hanging the "BIG RED Country" sign on the west wall of the rink under the scoreboards. Now our only problem is gettin it up there. . .so I may need some help.  Melissa or Age or anyone else who would like to lend a hand is more than welcome to do so, just let me know.  CUlater - I hope your boys like fish!!!

Great! =]

I'll probably be pretty busy getting the webcam ready though, so I might not be very helpful.

Am driving from Albany but hope to get there early enough to help. When were you wanting to put it up??? Are there holes in it for stringing it up? Sorry I can't remember. Am toying with the idea of taking 1/2 day off on fri. If I do that I can definietely be there to help! Will a ladder be needed or something? Can anyone else be there? I might get stuck in snow or traffic (silly old people driving 30 on a one lane road). Great job Ben!

Everything I have heard out of Harvard the last few years has been that we have supplanted their other rivals.  Certianly, we were not as big a deal to them when they were murdering us every year.

It hardly matters -- this year, at least, this is The Game of the R.S.  If the Crimson aren't up for it, so much the better.

With all the hype about Hahvad, I hope the boys on the ice don't pull punches on Brown, who seems to have sights set for any nationally ranked teams...

I can make it to Lynah anytime on Friday to help put the sheet up, if you need it.

The talk about signs and such made me remember that for The Game in '97, the Lunatic put out a fake issue of the game program that matched the actual program page for page and sold it outside of Lynah.  Besides it being one of the funniest thing I've ever seen the Lunatic do, it contained a clip-out sign as a joke.  It says in big, black, boring letters: "Hey Harvard!  We would appreciate it if you would lose."  So I just dug it up and scanned it in...if anyone has access to a laser printer and wants to print it out for display on the glass, you can find it at: http://home.stny.rr.com/rhovorka

There are 2 versions.  The jpeg is the original greyscale scan.  I tried taking out the inksmudges by converting it to a b&w gif.  Both should be ready to print to 8.5 x 11 paper.  But a warning: it takes a lot of ink.

And I don't know if I violated some copyright rules, but if anyone at the Lunatic cares, feel free to yell at me.

THis article is a MUST READ for teh Lynah Failthful featuring a few of our very own. It is damn funny at parts. Good to see some healthy egos (and well endowed men?) among the Faithful. LGR!

"Menu tonite: fish chowda...courtesy of section A, B..."

Here's the deal with hanging the "BIG RED Country" sign. . .There are wire conduits that will suffice to hang the sign on the wall ~ problem ~ we need a ladder to get to them. It  was made extremely clear to me this morning that no rink staff will help us put it up (funny b/c I never asked for their help :-). Anyhow, help is needed, anyone who is interested in doing so (Rich, Age, Melissa) just let me know. The plan is to get it up sometime Friday afternoon (anytime we can get enough people there). Oh yeah, we HAVE to find a ladder that is approx. 10-12 feet high - can anyone help out?

Age owns a ~8ft ladder that was acquired several years ago in the quest for DirecTV.  I seriously doubt he'd be be willing to put it on his car and risk scratching the paint. However, I do suspect that if you asked him nicely that he'd let you borrow it were you willing to come over and pick it up.

I'd offer to help with the sign myself except that I might still be in transit from New Haven depending on when you want to put it up. If you want to wait as late as 6pm, I'll be happy to assist.  I even know how to tie lots of cool knots and stuff...

(John then gets the inspiration that the Boy Scouts could become much more hip and edgy by adding a BDSM merit badge. Gives a whole new dimension to the idea of co-ed Explorer Scouting. :)

Anyway, I digress...
