Good question.  I'm tempted to say..."not often" because at times he shows a poor knowledge of the game itself...but maybe he doen't need that in this job! :-D

Random good thoughts: (anything is better than studying toxicology)

1) Joe on Jersey does make it easier to have my home jersey signed by another alum in the pros (already have Dryden's, but being in carribean limits my live hockey exposure)

2) Since i do have to study, i leave this in the more than capable hands of the eLF, is Doug Stienstra still in the Jersey farm system? If so, two alums on same team at same time possibility arises.

3) Cornell hockey alums in the news right before NCAA's = good omen. just a feeling.

4) on another thread for NCAA tix there is talk of UNH fans SELLING the FF tix on ebay and uscho NOW, its yet another good omen

5) I will be back in the states for next season (well half of it)

LET"S GO RED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doug Stienstra is playing in England with the Bracknell Bees.  He'd been Ryan Moynihan's teammate for part of the year, before Moynihan's contract was sold to another team, so if you don't just mean NHL, there already were two alums on the same team.  A quick glance at names shows PC Drouin to be playing in the same league.

In these days of rapidly changing rosters, it's hard to have any loyalty to organIzations.  Plus, I've always admired Lou Lamorello (sp?) and the job he's done with the Devils - like I never understood why other teams didn't draft Brian Gionta before the Devils got a steal in the 3rd round.   So Good Luck Joe and Let's Go Devils.  There's an article on the trade at:

Wow Josh, nice research
I meant NHL, I knew that Burgoyne was playing with Knopp and maybe Oates down in the ECHL for a while.

Let me rephrase that. I like the caps because it's the only hockey I get with any consistency on TV here.

Two things:

1. As a Sharks fan, having Neiwendyk not play for the hated Stars is a good thing.

2. Brad Chartrand plays for the LA Kings nowdays.  I just realized this as I was watching the Kings/Sharks game last night.

Al DeFlorio

While this is a personal disruption for Joe and family, my sense is the Stars are headed into a ditch like a porky SUV on a slippery road.  I find the following quote from the AP article in today's Ithaca Journal to be curious:

"He [Arnott] was the key for us,'' Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said.  "He brings us some size, some strength and a different attitude at center ice.'

Any insights into the "attitude" comment?  Complete article at URL below.

No clear idea other than this.  Arnott is a more physical player than Joe N...at times he's downright nasty so maybe they were looking for his physical presence.

He also had a rather contentius contract squabble with Lamoriello a year or two ago resulting in his holding out.

Joe N will no doubt adjust easily to his new teammates, consumate pro that he is.

Al DeFlorio

Thanks, Rich, for the quick response.

Well, nasty certainly isn't Joe, so, if nasty is what they wanted, I guess it was the right thing for Dallas to trade him. ::uhoh::

I love this time of year.  ECAC fans band together behind their representatives on the USCHO forum, and good god...Al and RichS just had a civil exchange.

Nice that Joe and Lou Reycroft are back with the same organization.

hey rich, it's been going on for a couple of days. I'm wondering if hell froze over while we were all up at LP, although it sure doesn't feel like it.

If Puck A., RichS., and Al all get together in the same room at Worcester without beating the crap out of each other, I'll believe it.
