Puck Avalanche.  Notorious SLU booster.

I'm so tired of hearing how the Devils and NJ suck suck suck. No one who has never lived in NJ can say it sucks. It's really not that bad. Nor are the Devils. They have been in the Stanley Cup finals the last two years, winning twice in the last 6 years.  Congrats to Joe, and to the Devils, and best of luck to both. I'm personally a huge Devils fan and am sad to see Arnott go, but hey, at least they both wear the same number. (I think...)

RichS

Nothing wrong with being a "notorious Slu booster".

He's infamous for being  Clarkson basher and Morris slanderer.  Oh, lets add BC and Jerry York and to a lesser degree, the rest of HE as objects of his "affection". :-D

RichS

I should clarify.  When I said "nasty" I mean in the hockey sense.  I think of Joe N. more as a skilled, finesse player.  Not to say he shies away from the physical aspect, but relatively speaking, Arnott is more of a banger and a stronger physical player.  He's very tough to move in front and on the boards.

I have seen him get downright "nasty"...engaging in some stickwork...in a few heated Rangers/Devils games the past few years.

Can't speak for everyone here, Rich, but that's exactly the way I took your earlier comment.

Joe's been known to do some pretty heavy damage "in front"--with damage meaning scoring, not carving.  His box lacrosse background gives him excellent stick skills for tipping/deflecting pucks.

"Geeks are generally the most interesting people"

Yup, read that one too...

Gotta love the use of the word "savvy"...seems the younger guys never are decribed that way. :-D

I remember Dave Taylor being called that as well.  These two had a lot in common regarding style of play and work ethic, etc.

Work is no longer an excuse to live near an ECACHL team... :(

Nothing to do with the trade, but, in researching Amsterdam for a May visit, I discovered the pedestrian-only shopping street is called Nieuwendijk.
