Boston College will be without Goalie Corey Schneider for the Everblades tournament since he was selected to play for the US National Junior Team for the World Junior Hockey Championships.

So far they've been strictly alternating Katiainen and Schneider.  Had this rotation continued, since they've got one game left before the Everblades, we would have gotten Schneider, but Kaltianinen is an extremely solid goalie also.  I'm sure he, and the rest of the BC squad, will be wanting to prove something after having been beaten by us in the NCAA's in '03.

I think we did ok without Lenny a couple of years ago.

Todd Marr was definitely not the reason we lost to Maine in the first round, I agree.

Good for Schneider, but I had really wanted to see him play (but lose to Cornell, of course) since he's a Vancouver prospect... not that the NHL really matters now anyway, I guess.

Maine was also without their #1 goalie, Jimmy Howard, who was also as the WJC two years ago when they played.

Marr should've been all-tournament goalie that year.

That's right. I'd forgotten that. Marr still played very well.

An extremely solid goalie?  The finnish five hole?  I'd have to disagree.  He's an average goaltender...at best.  In his three years at BC the highest SV% he's had to end a season is .907 last year.  He's got good size...but he always seems to let in the big goal and doesn't play well in big games.

So far this year, all of BC's losses have come with Kaltianen in net (he is 3-3-0 on the year, Schneider is 3-0-3).  Not that that necessarily means anything..just an interesting statistic.

That said, BC has a solid team and we all know that there are some nights when Cornell can make the most average goaltender look like Ken Dryden.

Should be a good tourney.

I was about to make a point about how they're probably playing Kaltiainen against the more difficult teams, but then I realized his three losses were to Harvard, BU, and Notre Dame.  ::nut::

Kaltiainen played just fine against us in the NCAAs two years back. This is going to be tough game regardless of who is in net for BC.

We just have to aim short-side, top-shelf. :-D

Ahhh, the memories...

And to commemorate it (and because I'd sort of forgotten and this is as good a time as any), the SportsCenter play of the week clip of the goal is back online.
