I've started to get annoyed by the "dragged down by" silliness  It is as if they think they are playing no-contact flag hockey.

Ummm....Travis, I think I'm going to have to have you come in on Saturday....

See if there's an option to increase your buffer size.  I'm listening on Linux with mplayer, and mplayer has some huge (like 2 minute) buffer, so there's no chance of it periodically dropping out.
